Name: Hatot Race: Akalak Birthday & Age: 49th Day of Summer, 470 A.V. / 40 Years Old Gender: Male Physical Description Like many of his race, Hatot is a tall, standing at 7’8” tall, with a lean muscular build. He has medium length black hair with light green eyes. Unlike most other Akalaks, he does have facial hair, though such is well groomed. The only other distinguishing mark would be a long scar along the mid of his back that he acquired during his Rite of Trial . Character Concept Personality - Ever since his Rite of Trial, Hatot has always tried to keep himself calm, almost to the point of seeming emotionless. He spends almost as much time in meditation as he does in practice, preparing for his Rite of Manhood. Hatot‘s other self is one of pure rage. Uncompromising, unrelenting and violent. It was something in himself that he did not like upon discovering it at his Rite of Trial, and it’s now something he struggles to keep subdued. Ethics - While his outward demeanor seems calm to the point of being almost cold, those who know him well know that Hatot is a caring individual, often taking the time out of his own practices to teach the younger Akalaks as they prepare for their own Rite of Trial. He shows bravery in the face of adversity like many of his kin, and always acts upon the Akalak code of honor. Likes - Practice, meditation near the great waterfall of Bluevein River, teaching. Dislikes - Dishonorable acts, getting angry, being manipulated. Character History Pre-Creation - Hatot was born into a large Akalak family, and while the Elder of his family wasn’t on the Council of Ten, he was well established among the society. As such, certain expectations were laid upon Hatot’s shoulders. These were accepted without complaint, hesitation or regret. Hatot was proud to be part of the line he was born into, and he felt he would do anything to make that line proud of him. As such, Hatot trained his physical form and skills in fighting as much as his body would allow him, and less on the psychological aspect of his being. This, later in life, would prove to be an mistake. During Hatot’s Rite of Trial, his was slashed deep along his back by the talon of a large Glassbeak. The pain was intense, so intense that his rational self retreated, releasing the darker half within him. With ferocity in his eyes that matched the Glassbeak and the violence to match, Hatot began striking down the large bird with his bare hands. His fellow hunters cheered him on, not immediately recognizing what had happened, and when one approached too closely, Hatot’s rage turned to him. Mercilessly, Hatot slammed his fists into the young Akalak’s body. Hatot would have surely killed his fellow hunter, and nearly did, had six others not restrained him until the rage passed. With a great sense of shame, Hatot was now being observed by the Council of Elders, and it was likely that shame he felt that prompted them to allow Hatot’s passing of the Rite of Trial, and allow him to choose his profession. Hatot, however, did not make a final decision on such, simply stating that he would give teaching a try so that he could focus more on keeping his darker half under control. In the end, Hatot would make his final decision when the time was close for him to take the Rite of Manhood.
