The Whetstone Due to the nature of the Sea of Grass, many Drykas have some kind of weapon skill, creating a healthy demand for metal materials and blacksmiths. Unfortunately, Endrykas' mobility does not lend to the equipment heavy requirements of smelting and forging metals. As such, blades of steel, arrow- and spearheads, and weapons exotic to Endrykas are purchased at various points during the Run. Weapon repairs and trading is primarily organized by the Whetstone family, who are outstanding masters of their crafts. In their pavilion they store weaponry in bulk; Folding tables arranged in rows flaunt an arsenal of swords(short long and great), maces, axes, daggers, bows, staves, and other weapons. In the back of the workshop several portable forges and anvils are arranged for efficient workmanship. Despite the difficulties of moving tonnes of inventory across Cyphrus, Ecere Rainsteel manage to put together a rhythm of trade as Endrykas nears the Syliran and Ekytolian borders. Loads of metal sheets and raw weapon material exchanged in ways that minimize the overall weight carried in between stops on the Run. Also offered at the Whetstone is embossing for leather armour, shields, and weaponry. Drykas are a proud people who take pleasure in displaying their clan designs, colours and motifs on their weapons, clothing, armour, bags and yvases. Her children and grand children continue the Rainsteel legacy, performing simple to moderately complex repairs, and the various aspects of the blacksmith and weaponsmith crafts. It is not unusual for apprenticing, extended or visiting family to represent the clan in an honourable way by working as messengers, running between pavilians to collect requests, coin, and deliver goods to buyers. The majority of their pavilion is focused on repair and production; however, the front “room” is dedicated to the sale of arms. Exotic items, including the ammunition, are less common, and are generally more expensive than their native counterparts. • Metal items are doubly-expensive, both to buy and to repair. Due to Endrykas’s nomadic nature, the smith cannot carry the necessary equipment to heat iron and steel to high temperatures. • Consult An Endrykas Moderator for any embossing done for your character. NPCs Ecere and her brother Kie perform majority of the repairs in the back, as well as the making of bows and spear hafts. Ecere’s two sons Caloke and Sullivan run the front of the shop and together they organize the imports and inventory, collect requests for repairs, and peform sales for the entire shop. Just newly introduced into the family and it's business is Eryne, Sullivan's wife. While she does not have the metalworking skills of her husband, her sweet voice makes getting through a rough day all the more enjoyable. Their unborn children will undoubtedly inherit the skills required to pass on the Rainsteel Legacy and honour their family name.
