A girl and her stag go shopping (Yuros)

Alea's first priority was boots. She looked at Yuros's feet and frowned at their blue-ish color. She wanted to get them covered in good footwear as soon as possible... But they were so huge. Could she find anything big enough to be comfortable? She found the largest pair of low-boots she could find and brought them back to Yuros. "Here, try these on. Let's see if they fit comfortably." She had him sit down on a low stool near the shelves containing the boots, and gently lifted his feet into the boots. She frowned again. "These are way too big." She took the boots off again and returned them to the shelves, looking for a slightly smaller pair. She found a size that seemed reasonable, and brought them back to Yuros. She put them on his feet again, and they seemed to fit more snugly this time. "How does that feel? Stand up and walk around, see if they're comfortable to walk in."

Yuros looked down at the strange things on his feet. They were thick and covered in fur and they pinched his toes. He immediately did not like them. Standing slowly the Kelvic tapped his newly constricted toes on the ground.

They are warmer, he admitted to himself.

Looking up at Alea for direction, she nodded her head and made motions for him to walk, and he did so to the end of the store and back. When he stopped once more in front of Alea she asked, "Well? How are they?"

Thinking of no other response Yuros shrugged, "They trap my toes and make it difficult to feel the vibrations underfoot. If I could, I would go with out them."

Alea frowned. If they were pinching his toes, then the boots were too small. She pried them off his feet after having him sit down again, and returned to the shelves. She managed to somehow find a size between the current pair and the largest pair, so she brought the large fur-lined boots back to Yuros. "I hope these fit. Shoes are supposed to be comfortable for your toes. I'm sorry about the vibrations, but I...I'm afraid to let you walk without shoes when there is snow on the ground." She bit her lip. For some reason, the idea of Yuros experiencing pain or discomfort was distressing to Alea.

A girl and her stag go shopping (Yuros)

Once more Yuros found his feet being jammed inside another pair of boots, but this time he noted they were a bit more comfortable. The Kelvic was happy to find he could actually move his toes inside of this pair. Looking at them more closely he noticed they were actually made of stag fur...

Well... he thought to himself, If I must wear such things then at least let them be made of fur I am accustomed to...

Standing he took a couple of strides, finding the boots formed well to the soles of his feet. Yuros jumped up and down a few times on the balls of his feet, his lean muscles sending him higher in the air than one would expect. Then, nodding in satisfaction, he turned to Alea, "I believe these will do just fine."

Alea's heart flipped at the sight of the man leaping into the air. Why did such a sight fascinate her? When he turned and spoke, she stated a full second longer before clearing her throat. "Good!" she said quickly, and moved on to the next item.

She'd done a good job ignoring it so far, largely because of more urgent matters, but it had always there, in the back of her mind. She needed Yuros to wear pants. She pulled Yuros by the hand to a different part of the shop and told him to stay while she found something, pulling the cloak he was wearing tighter around him lest it come loose in the shop.

She sorted through the breeches and trousers, pulling out different pairs and holding them up to his waist, trying to guess his size. She wanted something that would maybe be slightly big on him, so that he wasn't too uncomfortable. Too skinny, too short, WAY too wide, aha! She found one that seemed to match his waist and the length of is...incredibly...long...legs... She caught herself staring again and snapped out of it.

"I want you to try these on," she told him, leading him to a changing area surrounded by a curtain. She decided to explain: "Now pay attention. These," she said, grabbing the legs of the breeches one at a time, "are called legs. They are called legs because your legs go inside them." She grabbed the top. "Once you put your legs into these legs, you pull this up to your waist. Do you understand?" When he just stared at her, she said, "Good. Now go behind the curtain and put them on." She thrust the breeches into his hands and attempted to shove him into the changing room before he noticed the increase in her facial blood-circulation.

Yuros simply stared at the trousers that were shoved in his hands. They were so foreign to him...

Tilting his head to one side the Kelvic held the pants up before his eyes, sniffing them before turning them over. With a shrug he began putting them on as he believed they were supposed to go, nearly falling as one leg got trapped in the pants, forcing him to balance on one foot. Finally, after a bit more struggling and falling, Yuros finally managed to pull the trousers up over his waist.

Stepping out from behind the curtain, Yuros presented himself to Alea, "How is this?"

The trousers fit nicely. They were the perfect length and settled right on his hip bones, showing off the cord like muscles of his thighs and his bulging calves. It all seemed a perfect fit, except he had put them on backwards.

Alea looked and had to smother her laugh with her hand. She decided not to worry about it, and just said, "Good enough. You can give me my cloak back now. We're going to find you one of your own." By now, Alea was feeling much more at ease. She found she could now look at his sculpted chest without her mind going blank, and she was almost getting used to the fluttering of her heart.

"I suppose it is a waste of time to try to convince you to wear a shirt," she said pensively (not realizing she'd constructed half the sentence in Denvali), pausing by that section before she lead him to where the cloaks were located. This was probably going to be the easiest part, since cloaks did not have to fit as precisely other articles of clothing. She was about to pick one that seemed long enough and hand it to him, when she had a better idea. "Find one that you like," she instructed the stag-man.

A girl and her stag go shopping (Yuros)

Down on the far end of the table there was a stack of cloaks of different sizes and fabrics. As Yuros made his way toward this stack he absently tugged at the trousers. Shaking his head he thought I shall never grow accustomed to the itch of clothing...

There seemed to be cloaks of every color and design one could possibly imagine, and while Yuros certainly did not understand the human's constant need to wear them, he could admit that they were fascinating. Picking up one after another the Kelvic sniffed the cloaks and pulled on the fabric, but none of them seemed to be what he wanted. Finally he held up a cloak that was a dark, forest green that was made of wool. It reminded him of the Spire in late summer, and the material felt strong and firm in his hands. Once more he sniffed the cloak, noticing it had an almost nutty smell.

In one sweeping motion he threw the cloak over his shoulders, this time being certain that it was not on sideways, and found that it seemed to fit his shoulders almost perfectly. There were several ties along the neck if he chose to secure the article, and there seemed to be extra ties for a hood as well. The cloak settled just above his ankles, leaving Yuros to move about without tripping on the trim. Turning so that the cloak swirled about him in a dramatic fashion, Yuros bent at the waste in an almost elegant bow, "How is this?"

OOCHis mother did teach him a few things before passing, one of which was a proper bow when one wished to show respect or to give off an air of mannerisms. However, that is about as far as it goes :P

Alea's eyes widened at the image Yuros presented. He no longer seemed like a wild animal pretending to be human. There was something almost regal about him. Her heart fluttered in a completely new way, if that was even possible. "You look amazing," she told him, taking him in all at once. The forest-green cloak covered most of his bare chest. The breeches fit him snuggly, and ended at his dashing fur-covered boots.

Just then, her stomach growled. She blushed, and realized that Yuros must be hungry as well. "Come on. Let's pay for these and hurry to Winterflame. Aiza has agreed to make dinner for us." She led him to the counter and as the shop worker began tallying the total cost of the new clothes, it occurred to Alea to wonder whether the stag had money. The very idea seemed ridiculous, so she pulled out her purse and began counting out the appropriate number and color of coins.

A girl and her stag go shopping (Yuros)

Postby Yuros on November 5th, 2011, 2:46 am

Yuros watched as Alea began taking out various peices of metal from a small pouch. He wondered what it was they were for? As he watched he noticed that she grouped them into several piles, using her fingers to count... something.

Then the Kelvic remembered something from his early years. It must be money... Yuros thought. He watched for several more moments before he came to realize what it was she was doing. Stepping forward he laid a hand over Alea's, stopping her in her counting, "Do not worry, I can pay for my own wares."

Tugging at the cord, Yuros lifted the pouch from around his neck and set it on the counter in front of her. The pouch clinked loudly with the sound of the gold mizas within, "Here, will this be enough?"
