Marius Valdemar

![]() Silenzioso :
Let's have a look at you.
Cocky Bastard.
Wipe that smile from your face.
What's your story, boy?
The first time he stole something was the very medicine she needed, however by the time he returned his mother had already expired, and Marius was thrust upon the world as an orphan. Most considered his little hut to be abandoned, and none decided it to be worth their time, and so Marius remained able to return to shelter each night. The boy could not work, but he had found a natural talent for thievery. What food he got from there out came from coin lifted with deft fingers or a coy deception. The city of Alvadas proved to be one of the more difficult places to make a sturdy career of pick pocketing, but Marius knew no other environment and the many illusions felt as natural to him as breathing or walking. Within the confusing twists of the streets he met a boy with a situation similar to his own, a boy named Marcus. Together the children formed a gang of sorts, finding other orphans that stole to live and took them under their wings. Their meeting place was Marius's shack, which the orphans all crammed themselves into. Marius was out one afternoon intent upon lifting more coin for the group, when the target he chose vanished from his view entirely. Confused, Marius ran forward to the place where he had lost sight of the man, but when he did he found himself in an iron grip. Struggling was useless. Marius could not break free as the man leaned his head down towards the boy and whispered hoarsely in his ear. The man ended up not wishing to punish or hurt the boy, but instead offered him employment. He had observed Marius's skills, and wished to make use of him. He called himself an 'iron philosopher', which Marius did not understand. He did understand that he had no other choice but to accept this strange man's offer. The man did not divulge his true name, but instead had Marius call him Crow. He directed the boy in how to observe, how to blend and fade within crowds and the illusions of their beloved city, and eventually, how to kill. Crow was an artist when it came to killing for coin, and began to pass his knowledge down to the boy. Marius's job was to follow Crow's target, take notes on his behavior's, and report the schedule to the assassin. Crow would use this advantage to show up where his target was wont to be, and quickly end their lives without much risk of exposure to himself. And, in return, he taught the boy how to fight and climb with a clawed gauntlet that Crow passed down to him. The deal was sweet for the both of them, but such things never last. A morning came where Crow did not find, contact, or otherwise reveal himself to Marius. This was not entirely strange, and so Marius was not concerned. A month passed and still Crow did not show up. The only choice Marius had was to return to the life of a common street rat, leader of his gang of orphans. ![]() |
