[flashback] Projection and you(solo)

10th winter 505

Coren quickly made his way back towards his room, a bunch of random items in his arms, or at least he saw it as rubbish, trying to make sure he didn't drop any of it. As he arrived at his door, he quickly looked down the hallway before pushing open the door to his room with his shoulder and walked inside, dropping the heap of items on his desk and taking a hold of his chair, dragging it towards his his door and propping it as good and bad as he could up against the handle. Blocking the door. After giving the door a good pull to check if the setup would work he walked over towards his desk, pulling of his heavy winter bane cloak and throwing it on his bed before he began looking on his desk for his ink.

After having found the ink he sat down on his bed, rolled up his right sleeve from his tunic, screwed the lid of the vial of ink and carefully dipped his finger in the vial, keeping it secure by clenching it in between his legs and carefully began drawing one of his focus glyph's on the back of his hand, cursing under his breath as drawing with a finger was still just as hard as a few day's ago. But since he still hadn't had a new quill he was just going to have to bear with it.
As he finished drawing the glyph on the back of his hand he carefully inspected it on faults. The circle looked serviceable enough, and the octagon and lines inside of it also looked as if they could work. Dipping his finger once again in the ink he moved towards the inside of his elbow and took his time reproducing the same glyph there, and ended up with a reasonable version. He screwed the lid back on the vial with his left hand, keeping his right arm stretched out to make sure he didn't smudge the glyph on the inside of his elbow.

“Right, lets do this.” Coren muttered to himself before taking a deep breath and focusing his djed slowly beginning to push out his astral body from his elbow to his fingertips, a small smile coming on his face as he he felt both of the glyphs do their work this time, letting his astral body easily slip out of his lower arm. The coresponding limb falling limp besides him.

[flashback] Projection and you(solo)

As he had pushed out his astral body he flexed his hand once, cautiously checking if everything was working as it had to before diving into his practice session with projection, before carefully picking up the vial of ink he had clenched in between his legs, makign sure he had a good grip on it, he didn't want to waste any of the ink, it was fairly expensive and he didn't want to clean up the trouble it would leave on the ground if it fell. He kept seated on the side of his bed as he slowly reached out with his projected limb towards the desk a meter or three away and carefully put it down far away from the edge. Feeling a bit of glee at the ease of the task, he could remember a time it took quite a bit out of him just to do what he did right now without even breaking a sweat.

He quickly calmed down though, remembering that he wasn't supposed to play around if he was still using magic and focused back on the task at hand, reaching out even more towards the pile of random items he dropped on his desk only a few moments ago, his ghostly hand hovering over the pile for a few moments, coren straining his neck to see the pile clearly without moving from his bed, before grabbing a random piece from it, winching a bit at the significant, but still fairly manageable strain from the weight. He pulled it towards him slow and easy, trying to override the feeling that he should get it over to him right now before he strained himself to much. His master said training your projection was more or less like training your normal muscles, he needed to put some strain on his projected limbs. When his limb was close enough he slowly raised it the object to eye-height and held it there for a few moments before slowly struggling to raise it up above his head and heigher.

Coren slowly lifted the object a foot or so above his, head gritting his teeth in once again to keep him from rushing the job, constantly repeating in his head that the longer it took the more benefit he would get out of it. Rushing it would yield him not everything. As soon as it was around a foot above his he stopped it and slowly counted to twenty. When he finished his count he slowly lowered his projected limb till he could let the half carved wooden statue rest into his lap. Letting out a few breaths before repeating the same exercise once again. After he lowered the item once again in his lap though he got a bit of doubts in the 'exercise'. Sure it would build up the strenght of his projected limb. But wasn't dexterity of it just as important? He unceremoniously dropped the piece of half finished art on to the floor and shifted a bit to the side so he had a better vieuw fo the pile of items and reached over with his projected limb sifting through the pile.

After a few moments of searching he pulled out a small little ball and held it up for a few moments as he looked it over. Before a small smile came on his masked face, this would do just fine for an exercise. He floated his etherial hand a bit closer towards one of the walls and took aim for a few seconds before throwing the ball and letting it bounce twice, first again the wall and then on the floor before catching it again and he began to repeatably bounce the ball against the wall and floor. After a few chimes of constant repetition of throwing, letting it bounce and catch, Coren's teenage mind slowly began to wander away from the task at hand. Catching and throwing the ball without thinking.

[flashback] Projection and you(solo)

Coren's mind just aimlessly began to wander aimlessly, replaying the events of the day while keeping only a small bit of attention on what the was doing with the ball, unfortunally that wasn't such a good idea for two big reasons, the first one would have been obvious for any mage, the fact that magic was dangerous and that if you didn't keep your full attention on it one would run the risk of draining ones djed to dangerous levels and run risk of overgiving. The second risk was a lot more mundane, missing the grab and letting the bouncy ball fly off towards the room. Which is what happened to coren. As his projected limb slowly began to respond a little bit less and less to his orders he began slip with the accuracy at first, but when the limb finally overshot its target by a few inches and the ball bounced on the floor and as misfortune would have it it hit the startled young mage right in his face. It didn't hurt as much as nearly let his heart stop in shock as he was suddenly hit in the face with a rubber ball.

Coren stupidly blinked once or twice as he was rudely pulled back to the real world and was left to wonder what the heck exactly happened in the time his mind wasn't really on the task. Before he shrugged and tried to pick the ball back up with his projected arm. Only to widen his eyes in fear as the arm only sluggishly reacted to his commands. The lesson his teacher drilled into him coming back to the fore of his mind. The more sluggish your projected limbs became, the closer you where to overgiving.
A quick bout of panic shot through coren's mind as he quickly tried to pull the projected limb back into his body, the body part slowly and sluggishly obeyed his commands and shrunk back to its original size, all the while coren could feel his heart begin to hammer in his chest as he began to think of the horror story's his master told him about the concequences of overgiving. But strangly enough, even through the shroud of fear and the fact he was completely focused on trying to shove his projected limb back into his body. He heard a faint whispering sound buzzing into his ears, whispering something that seemed like something of importance and almost pulled coren out of his trance and into refocusing everything into figuring out what that strange voice whas whispering. But he quickly shook his head and brucksly shoved the last part of his astral body back into his right arm and quickly shook it and moved it in any way he could, trying to check if he hadn't screwed up his arm beyond repair. He let out a small sigh of relief as he found that aside from a slight numbness everything was still in working order.

He slowly picked up the ball and threw it back in the pile of junk on his desk before laying back down on his bed lifting his right arm up and giving it a small lookover. Hoping that the numb feeling would leave soon.
