84 of Winter 492 AV - 7.45 pm Snow fell silently outside the warm houses, covering the White Isle in a soft cold cover giving more truth than ever to its name. Almost everyone was inside somewhere warming up from the chill outside. The Nastra household stood almost empty though, only Sabe was home babysitting her niece as her mother and two sisters were away, the young Konti girl had recently turned five and was very fond of being stubborn, much like Sabe herself was. The young girl was almost like a copy of her mother at the same age but with other eyes, where Sai's had been a vibrant turquoise Toscaya had deep violet eyes that always sparkled with joy. She was an energetic child with much of her mother and aunt's personality but also a beginning of the natural calm grace of the Konti race. For Sabe it was a reminder every time she was with Toscaya of the sister she'd lost but it was far outweighed by the sheer happiness brought by the young Konti. "Now Toya," Sabe said using her favourite nickname on the girl. "It is time for you to go to bed. Granny will not be happy if I don't take care off you as she said." Sabe said smiling, normally she was awkward and nervous around children but around her niece it was different, Toya and Sabe shared a deep bond, more like sisters than aunt and niece. "But Shabe, I'm not tired,"the young Konti said sleepily, hiding a yawn but Sabe saw the tension off muscles and her clenched teeth. "Yes you are sweetie," Sabe smiled, green eyes watching the small girl with affection. "Tell a shtory Shabe," The young Konti begged, her eyes scrunching up and muscled tensed as she pressed back another yawn. "So if I tell you a story you will go to sleep?" Sabe asked, knowing the girl would fall asleep before the tale was over even. Toscaya nodded happily, the warm glow of a fire reflected of both Konti's scales, spreading an orange pearlescent shine over their skin. "Well Toya, in a land far away from here, a land only a few people knows about it. Only you and me and a few more. There lived a man named Captain Seabear in a hut on the beach, not far away in a tree house built in a banana tree live Captain Seabear's friend Monkey. One day the two was out walking to find an adventure for the day, there was that large treasure guarded by the evil squid Blobby but that was underwater." Sabe began, her voice lowered slightly and her fluid smooth tone darkened to a river's murmur. "This sunny day however a dark shadow had stopped to good mood in the forest, a thief was raiding the peaceful homes and today Monkey had woken up, missing all his bananas. So Captain Seabear and monkey was walking around on the beach nearby Monkey's house in search of foot prints. There were many foot prints but each was distinguishable and quite easily Captain Seabear and Monkey followed one pair into the forest, eventually reaching the home of a lemur named Mulle. Now Captain Seabear and Monkey thought they'd caught the thief as Mulle was on his way home with a bag over his shoulder, eagerly the two friends went forward to confront him." OOCThis is based on the stories my father used to invent when I was young, and a touch of inspiration from my favourite book as a kid, Fiffige Frasse och Nisse Nasse (Richard Scarry). And I'm not the best story teller for kids but hopefully Toya will enjoy it though. |
