Sterling Brody Whitehoof was born to his Emerald Clan mother, Dawna Brody, and father, Restin Whitehoof, in the moving city of tents, Endrykas. His mother, a petite and seemingly fragile woman had been spotted near the edge of Endrykas, going head to head with a glassbeak. Restin was at first compelled to help the woman escape certain death, but he stood back, watching her weave her sword at the beast until she at last felled it. A small woman, fierce as could be. She tied the creature to the saddle of her steed and dragged it along her way, until Restin approached her, and commended her for her skill. He invited her into the city to rest after her battle, and offered her food and rest. She soon took up work, and became accepted by his clan. Dawna never left Endrykas, but instead accepted Restin's hand and became his first wife. Together, they bore a single child, Sterling.
At the age of twenty, Sterling was chosen by Kilo, his charcoal grey Strider, and received his first windmark. His mark is composed of large, thick barbs that twist and twine their way around his right shoulder. He spent the following two seasons, he spent time bonding with his Strider, until eventually an unsettling feeling stirred in him. Sterling felt the calling to leave endrykas. He wanted to traverse the Cyphrus region, at first, but that calling grew to something more. He confronted his parents about his desire to travel, which ultimately resulted in a tussle with his father. Being his only son, he had obligations, he had responsibilities in Endrykas. He argued with his father, and though it broke his beloved mother's heart to see him go, he took his leave. Being on bad terms with his father, he promised his mother he would return. Upon his leave, he assumed his mother's surname, and became simply Sterling Brody.
Though he was enjoying his journey across the land of Mizahar, years later he began to feel a same sort of calling - one to return home. Though he wasn't sure when he would oblige his urge to travel back to Endrykas, he knew it would be soon. And when he did, he would settle his dispute with his father, settle down with a wife, and start a family of his own. It would take some sort of miracle to fix things with Restin, he knew. He knew he would have to bring some sort of worthy accomplishment home with him when he returned, or face the possibility of being banished from his Pavilion.
