Physical Description

Kassan has the rich, ebony skin of the desert dwelling Benshira. Though his face holds the arrogant, serious tone of a Nykan monk, his features are softer than most. His eyes are striking when viewed closely, seemingly peering deep inside you rather than just judging at face value. They have the cool, blue shade of the Benshira race.

His body is intensely toned and muscular, his chest slabs of muscle testament to the upper body strength required to wield the glaive with skill. Many underestimate his strength, since they do not see his muscular form beneath his robes.

Pre-Creation History

Born on the 64th day of Autumn in 483, Kassan grew up as a street urchin in Yaheba, He was captured by slavers and carted across Mizahar to be sold in Sylira. As time passed, Kassan began to use his days of travel and boredom for meditation and exercise - using it to sustain his sanity. During the travels he suffered terrible abuse, but for the time being, he has pushed those memories aside...

Somewhere near Nyka, the caravan was suddenly attacked. Kassan awoke in the night, and prepared himself to fight - but he was surprised to be freed from the slavers and the caravan by a masked figure. As they tried to escape, a surviving slaver tried to kill Kassan. The masked figure defended him, and took the blow. In his dying breaths, the masked figure gave Kassan his glaive, and told him to run to the city.Image

Rushing through the landscape blindly, he ended up collapsing on the coastline, and when he awoke, he found himself in a modest, fisherman's hut. Paraphanelia to the demigod Uphis surrounded him. The fisherman was kind, and allowed Kassan to stay with him. As the months passed, the pair began to see each other as father and son. Kassan learnt a lot about Uphis from him too.

Having watched the monks every day, Kassan's respect for them grew. He devoured as many texts about Uphis as he could, and continued to tone his body and train with the glaive. As time passed, he began to feel like he couldn't impose upon the fisherman any more. Thanking him, and giving him half of the money he had made from selling the local fish, he left to become a monk of Uphis.

Kassan came out of his initiation injured, but alive. Memories of his slavery had resurfaced in the Aperture. Finally joining the monks in the North Quarter of Nyka, he began to devote his entire life to the demigod of blades. He is still curious as to who saved him from a life of slavery though. He hopes that one day he'll be strong enough to do the same for someone else...

History in the Making

Kassan's devotion to Uphis has not faltered, and he seems to have inspired others to join the Sharp Blade ranks. Among the Winter festivities, he came face to face with his masked saviour once again. And now, as Nyka recovers from the aftermath of the djed storm, he fights to keep the streets safe.
