66th Day of Autumn, in 511 AV
Saying a quick goodbye to Kavala and Leto, and giving Tairell a few minutes of fuss, Ronan took off alone to go and explore the city. He was so thankful for Kavala's hospitality
It was so new to his eyes - Endrykas, and endless grass, were all he had seen for so many years. He had been to Riverfall once before in his youth, but he seldom recalled anything of the visit. It was sad to think he had come here with his parents and brother the last time round. His father had had some business in the City, and that was all he could remember.
As he walked, he couldn't help but stare at the Akalak. They were large, and powerful looking. Despite his skill with the dagger, Ronan would rather not be confronted by one of these men. They were generally well built, muscles like slabs of stone, and their eyes were so mysterious. Windows to a world of honour and secret.
The city itself was lush and beautiful. He could see the Suvan in all it's glory, and the sound of Bluevein River smashing down into the Sea filled the air. There were a few seabirds, noisy in the sky, and perched on roofs.
When he began to allow his mind to focus, the faint strands of the Web began to become visible. He smiled. Sama'el and Leto had truly opened his eyes to a whole new world. The Web was magical... linking everything and everyone, bringing life full circle.
How had he been so blind to the Web for so long?
It was still taking a lot of time to allow his ethereal form to join the Web, but he knew it would become natural with practise. Practise makes perfect. It was the same with everything.
So he began to concentrate, struggling on that divide of mind and body. Soul and flesh. He found himself distracted more than once, as he tried to part the ways, but finally it happened.
Weight was sucked from his body, and he felt like a gentle breeze, floating free from his mortal constraints. And he quickly grabbed hold of the closest strand, a feeling akin to electricity running up his arms.
As he moved up the Web, he began to seek out Sama'el's traces again.
Practise makes perfect...
