born Spring 10 408AV
physical
At 28cm in length, Jag the bird is covered in glossy brown feathers; he has a black hooded head and the bare yellow patch behind both eyes. His bill and legs are bright yellow. There is a white patch on his outer primaries; his wing lining on the underside is white.
Tall, pale and dark of hair, Jag easily plays the archetype of a born-and-raised Nykan. He stands at 172cm and is lean muscle wrapped in an alabaster skin, prone to sunburns even in the mild and short summers of Sylira. Jag’s face is an entertainer’s; able to twist itself in exaggerated emotion, he’s often wearing a well-tilted smirk. His eyes are pale golden brown and he sports a mound of wiry chestnut hair that never seems to do what is asked of it.

“What do they call you?”
“What about Jag, do you like that name?”
“No.”
historical
Jag was born in the depths of the Sylira wildlands to a pair of squirrels; or rather, to a pair of Kelvics that happened to also be squirrels. This short and decidedly insignificant part of his life has all but been forgotten; he fledged a month after his birth and left them behind. Jag spent the following years of his life flocking with other birds, spending so little time in his rapidly growing human form that it was noticeably older each time he shifted. Chance, curiosity, and (perhaps most of all) hunger brought him to the city of Nyka where he currently resides, roosting in eaves and earning delicious scraps from the occasional passersby with his uncanny ability to mimic nearly any sound he hears.
He acquired his name from a short run-in with a child; he did not necessarily ask for a name, still does not recognize the importance of it, but has resigned to answering to Jag when he is called.
Jag is insolent. Being a starling, he is outspoken, aggressive, and has a loosely defined concept of personal space. What’s his is his, and what’s yours is his, if he can manage it. He also has little issue vocalizing his every thought, whether it is in the form of an ear-grating trill or some morsel of harsh dialogue he’s picked up and memorized.
He is also highly intelligent, for a bird.
racial traits
Mimicry — Myna birds have an ability to accurately copy sounds. This includes different voices. This does not carry over fully when Jag is in his human form, due to the restrictions of human vocal chords, but he does have a habit of repeating questions.
Keen eyes — Mynas are excellent sights; this carries over between his shifting.

Heirloom: Dog
Not really his dog, but Jag managed to lure a stray from an alley by mimicking a whistle and a few soothing words. The dog will pursue him for a while, before wandering off again as Jag offers no food and is not suitable (see: catchable) prey. Dog is more of a game than a companion.
