A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Postby Antar on January 14th, 2012, 6:40 pm

Antar smiled a bit, his mind controlling the earthen facsimile of giant hand to give an approximation of a thumbs up sign in the middle of the air. He was interested how andresciel stretched his defenses to cover the distance between himself and the stone headed towards his familiar. Each stone had been hurtling in a different direction, yet the man acted without hesitation to protect the cloud. Was that instinctive? Or a sign of improvement? Clearing his throat Antar asked his next question as he readied himself to probe Andresciel's defenses all the more. So far he'd been playing around... like a child playing childish games. Soon though... he knew it would be getting serious. "Interesting... so does that mean if one's hurt the other gets hurt as well? Oh, and try to block this too... if you can."

The hand's thumb would tuck itself to the side, as Noth blitzed out a charge towards the mage knight. At about ten feet away he would skid to a halt, launching the earthen fist forward as the inner core was transmuted to solid rock. It would be up to Andresciel to determine whether or not his defenses could hold against such a thing... or if he would have to expend the valuable time and energy to wear it down somehow; perhaps with his wind fist? Though it would take time, effort, and energy to turn the blow if he couldn't destroy it outright.

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Andresciel set himself, calling all the force of the winds to him. One could hear the howling as he smirks, watching the male charge. Just as he thought, the fist was shot towards him, even as the wind began to spiral around his right arm, like a drill. "Yes, if Vel gets hurt I do too. But I will protect my partner with my life." With those words, Andre threw his right arm forward, slamming the fist into the stone, letting the Wind Drill Arm set to work, feeling the stone crack under his strike. "I am Wind. I am Air." Andre muttered, unleashing the Wind Fist, as he brought his knee up and shattered the stone fist with a drifting of his energy, causing him to pant.

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

oocAgreement for knockdown approved by andresciel via chat.

As Andresciel fell back to the earth unbalanced from his knee to the rock and panting from his exertion', Antar would capitalize on his moment of weakness to surge forward. Bridging the distance in the span of less then a breath in order to deliver a leaping strike to Andresciel's stomach with the base of his foot with his own momentum and weight behind it. The blow would keel Andresciel backwards to the ground with a brutal thud as Antar came down hard on top of him. Straddling the mage's waist Antar would mock a two gauntleted strike at Andresciels head, for a small moment triggering the spring blades of the stilletos within the gauntlets to prove his unspoken point that Andresciel's lack of awareness could have just costed his life. When one put their all into a single defense or attack when they were already tired then they left themselves open for their attacker's advantage.

He hoped Andresciel would take the lesson to heart. But if he could not figure it out from what had just occurred, Antar would not enlighten him verbally. He'd just have to learn the hard way throughout the rest of their sparring session.

Grunting, Antar would retract the spring blades and push his hand off the mage's shoulder. Helping him to roll off to the side before pushing back to his feet. He'd walk back ten feet towards the opposite edge of the grove before turning to face the man once more to begin summoning his Res again. "Concentrate on your winds Andresciel, Attempt to spin them about you in a series of blades, in order to evade these next assaults you will have to combine your defense with your attack to break free of your the resulting enclosure."

This time the Res was a smaller stream, yet more intense in its passage as the trickle from his pores dipped down towards the earth before hopping forwards like a leaping fish to the ground at Andresciel's feet. It would spread in a circle about the mage, twisting as furrows of it delved deep into the earth. He'd give Andresciel enough time to regain his footing and prepare himself. But soon enough the first strike would come, lancing from behind as a single blunted spike towards Andresciel's back as it attracted bits of earth. If Antar's mind had wanted it sharpened it could very well have skewered the mage where he stood.

Instead, if it hit then Andresciel would soon find the impact hard enough to rattle his armor and leave a stiff bruise.. . Of course, while he did not wish to kil a mage knight, that did not mean Andresciel would get off easily... there were three more singular spikes being prepared, and soon they would be triggered , one after the other.

oocTake a little time to counter things here, build your reimancy well, deal with the attacks and then counterattack. I don't care if you knock Antar down with some assisted speed. Your best use of a familiar at your level in combat is as a second pair of eyes XD. Use him :p. I think this will be the last "serious" attack and defense and attack with reimancy the characters could make so make it good :)

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Postby Andresciel on January 17th, 2012, 7:21 pm

The Mage Knight fell to the earth with Antar atop him, getting the fatal lesson even as he pushed himself back up. He watched the stream of res that fell into the earth as he called up his own res. He felt his familiar's tug in his mind, Behind you Andresciel...look at the pretty spikes. Velenor would speak, causing Andre to spin the wind around him like blades. He formed his Wind Blades, but this time, he set them spinning like a cyclone around him.

The strike from behind was sliced three times before it clattered harmlessly against the Knight's back, even as Andre let his agility take hold. He threw himself forward, his eyes sparking with intelligence, no fury in sight. He landed on the ball of his right foot, throwing his left up towards the chest of the Rogue before him. The earth reimancer's speed was slower then Andre's own, causing the plated boot of the Mage Knight to land solid in Antar's chest. The augmented speed and strength would send the young man onto his rear. "Never underestimate me. I was testing your strength, my friend." Andre dropped his foot, offering his hand to the rogue before him.

I hope that worked for you Antar :P

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Postby Antar on January 18th, 2012, 10:06 pm

At the last moment of Andresciel's approaching kick, Noth brought his gauntlets across his chest, being sure to angle the blades away from the man's boot as the kick came in... For just a moment, if Andresciel had seen Noth's face just before his attack connected, he would have noted a small smile as the rogue was jettisoned backwards.

Armor did wonderful things for one's combat survivability; though it wasn't at all perfect, having an heavy armored boot crash into someone's armor plated chest, and padded armor cushioned a lot of the damage, much like how large claymores were more battering weapons to use against knights in armor then actual graced for their edge. But... that didn't mean impacts didn't hurt. The man was learning though... learning was good.

Antar lay there smiling as Andresciel approached, or rather smirking as he struggled to catch his breath. Just waiting... waiting as the mage knight spoke and offered his hand. He couldn't resist the comeback though, "Shame... the truth could have been said the same about me; save for one small difference... I was testing your observation skills."

With that last word, the second colum of earth would erupt from beneath Andresciel's feet, sending him flying hard through the air to hit into the nearest tree trunk, where Andresciel's armored body would then promptly fall to the ground. Painfully, Antar would straighten himself up to his knees and then push himself to his feet as he considered he still had enough Res within his zone of control for two more attacks. Spitting to the side to clear his throat a little, the rogue would wait as Andresciel regained his feet. "You know Andresciel, I'm leaving myself open on purpose... how else would you acquire a target, but I do like your approach ; the sparring practice will end when you can shake my hand. Now... ready for another try to get that close again? Remember, observations!"

He would hold up two fingers, and waggle them at the man, a silent clue that there were two more attacks prepared, if he could deal with them and mark a final blow then Antar would gladly shake his hand and part ways... after a bit of meditation of course.

"Two more eh?" The Magic Knight stated as he pushed himself up and moved towards the rogue, his hand coming up as he chuckles. His fingers snapped as he called to his res, his fingers acting as matches as flames leapt forward towards Antar, just a wave of heat. He dashed to the side, to flank the man as he slammed his palm to the earth, breathing out as he began to focus. He hoped the heat wave distracted his foe long enough, as he let out his breath and the wind kicked up, rolling low to kick up sand. It was a sandstorm spell, a soft bit of wind, brought to a flurry, unleashing the power of the sand towards the male. "Nah, I like the range." He chuckles, standing up to walk forward behind the rolling sandstorm.

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Postby Antar on February 5th, 2012, 3:00 am

oocI apologize for the delay in the reply. Been busy :). But I will say thank god I now can have Antar *lose* gracefully with that last conceptualization of yours: A sandblasting dust devil was just the thing needed. :) Now ... >.> To the post!

'Oh... Shyke.'

Antar thought with a smile as he realized what the mage knight was doing. Though he could have potentially have stopped it in his tracks by a preemptive strike, but he was kind of glad. This would be a true test of both his and the other man's abilities. The two pools of his Res still in the field were switched from offense, to defense, flowing back towards him ahead of the oncoming winds which hurled the air about like a rag doll within the shaded cove as the heat came towards him.

'Strange how he had forsworn the use of fire within these walls and a mage knight himself was fondly using it. No matter, he was to use earth and only the element of earth as his legs forced him to duck aside and tumble as the winds began to turn towards him. He'd hunch to the ground, forming his defense, a two layered bit of hardened shale washing over him to cement itself to the ground to form a live giving seal. That was the inner layer, on the outside, the layer of Res he tasked it to bring any particle of earth towards it as the storm began to break over him.

Beyond the shield of stone and the attractant Res of the outer layer binding the bits of soil and sand within Andresciel's attack as the dust devil wore on, wearing and grinding his defense down in a fury of winds until his position was covered in dust until the winds passed completely. Coughing, he'd shove a hand up through the shield of shale he had made as it cracked, destroyed from the wear upon it by Andresciel's major attack.

Shaking his head as he sat up, Antar would spit out a mouthful of dirt shouting, "Yield! I yield."

Stopping a bit of bile from surging in his throat he'd turn and spit to the side, trying to get the grainy aftertaste off his tongue. 'God it was awful.'

No matter, as he waited for his surrender and offer of parley to get through to the mage, Antar would force his attentions back to absorbing the faint traces of res left from his construction as he felt the welcome return of djed to his body. He was tired, tired and irritable; the mage had asked for a session of practice, yet the rogue knew his limits and knew he had no more to give.

Not without risking the whispers... Turning to Andresciel, the rogue would smile and shrug, "Good one there Andresciel. You win, okay? Wanna shake hands now?" With that final word the white haired man would reach out with his right hand towards the mage , wondering if Andresciel would come close enough to help him up.

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Andresciel's form bowed as he placed hands to knees, shaking his head at the use of Fire reimancy. His dark eyes come up towards Antar as the man spoke, his movement slow, but still he rose. He spoke softly "Aye, Let's shake and be done with this fight. I think that was me last spell for a week." He laughed, moving to help the man out, still, he carried a small about of res around him, focused for wind reimancy in defense. His left hand reached out to Antar, closing about the males hand and pulled, trying to get the rogue up.

ooc :
Its cool dude. Love the losing. <.< And I should have tried lightning reimancy.

A meeting with a mage... knight(Andresciel)

Postby Antar on February 10th, 2012, 3:56 am

When Antar was pulled up to his feet with the mage's help, the rogue would roughly clap the other man on the shoulder. Normally, if the man had been snarky or so he might have belted him across the face. But since it seemed Andresciel lamented his own use of fire reimancy within these walls, Noth figured the other mage was quite close to his limits, so he didn't want to set him off. The last thing he needed was the blood of a mage knight who had to be put out of his overgiving misery on his hands.

He sighed a moment, considering his words as it was clear to any observer the match was over. "That was a good match Andresciel, you do credit to your order; I only hope to see you get better and better as you progress. As for me, I think its time to call it quits. Sure we could spar a little in hand to hand, but I honestly think we're both too spent for that. How about I offer you a deal? Next time I'm through Syliras, and you're noted for patrol outside the city; I'll help you out. Sound good?"

He'd extend a hand for a handshake then, wish the mage knight the best of luck, and then head to gather his things. He had a visit to the Temple after all to complete...

oocI think this is good to wrap up here after your last post :) PM me your requests and I'll put this in chevalier's office

The Knight could only nod, offering his hand to the male, taking the rogues hand in a handshake. He was quiet, the sweat visible on his face as he panted. "Sounds good. Would be nice to have a hand along that can add to my own reimancy powers." The Mage Knight spoke softly, blue eyes looking the male over as he began to move back to his normal spot in the trees. He sat down, returning to his normal activity, prayers to Yahal, and meditation on his fighting style.
