Loot, and equipment questions.

What loot can a character find in a thread, I understand the safest way is to PM the moderator in question and I shall indeed do so after I have some initial guidelines. However a few guidelines would be exceptionable helpful.

1, Can my Zith character loot a fallen man and find a sword for instance?
2, Can Kvar here pick up wood he chops from trees to build his boat?
3, Can a boat be built by hand when I have the right materials?
4, Can a beggar have occasional success in skinning for a fur, or taking coins from charitable donation?
5, Can you assume if you are haggling in the market you might draw a crowd to sell items?
6, Can a character take anything from a thread without pm'ing a moderator, or should all items be approved first. If so what can be taken?

These are tough questions to answer because a lot of it is going to depend on your local storyteller. I am more lenient on some things than others, but another storyteller might not be. Still, I will try to help. 1. You will probably need permission for this. If its a random dead body you found then its basically a free item and that would need permission. If you killed the man, then you should have asked permission to do that in the first place. In the end, though, unless its something you paid for with your own gold, get permission or wait until the thread is graded. Most syorytellers will tell you what your loot was. 2. Yes, but again it will generally be up to the storyteller to tell you just how much useable wood you got. 3. Yes, you can build anything if you have the right skills and materials. If you try to build something beyond your means, however, a storyteller may rule it a failure or flawed in some way. 4. Yes, however a storyteller will tell you exactly how much you get when the thread is graded. You can assume a gold here and there, but an ST might change it if your assumptions were too generous. Also, you could set up begging as your job and get a seasonal "wage" for begging. 5. This depends on your city and what your storyteller's restrictions are for such things. If you are set up with a merchant job then its probably fine, if you are just selling random items to random people you might need approval. If you just do the thread, final success will be determined in the xp reward. 6. Yes, you can take things without pming a ST, but it really depends on what it is. If you are trying to take the MC 100 Sword of Destiny, you probably need approval. If you are stealing an apple from a stall, I wouldn't bother an ST. When they grade the thread they might throw you in jail though, so just be careful. In the end you can really only use your best judgement. If its something trivial and you think it will be approved, I wouldn't bother an ST. If you have any doubts, just PM us. It's what we're here for. In the end, everything you do is subject to final approval by an ST when we grade the thread, so if you accidentally did something wrong have no fear, we will spot it and let you know.

Thanks, the common sense approach. I perhaps have sent in more helpdesk tickets than was necessary but I generally will till told otherwise, and this has helped in that regard.

It is very useful to know that the tolerances do vary a bit for different things across domains. What I will do, as I am new and know next to nothing about individuals, is send a plot breakdown to each and every DS/AS in the domains I am in with each character.

That way they can let me know pretty quick if something is off.

Just something to note, please try to limit your HD questions to those that only a Founder can give an answer to, since they are the only ones who can see the threads in that subforum, and swamping them with more threads to answer means they have less time for other tasks, such as modding, grading, etc. For matters pertaining to scenarios done in a particular domain, such as the questions you posted here, you may direct them to your local storyteller.
