Varric Ulex The Thief of Virtue Race: Symenestra Birthday and Age: Born 5th of winter, 491. 20 years old. Appearance Few ever have the chance to, but those who have seen him would say Varric is fairly small man, no taller than 5.5 feet and weighing only 130 lbs. He has short black hair, although it is rarely seen as he always wears a cloak to conceal his face. He has bright amethyst eyes with a scar beneath his left one. His skin is slightly darker than most of his kin, although still remarkably pale. Personality Varric is part dashing rogue, and part awkward outsider. The symenestra way of life has always appaled Varric, he refuses to believe his blood will decide the course of his life. He is a thief, not due to greed or any "evil" intentions, but because he has an adventurous spirit. He refuses to steal from the poor, only taking from those who can do without. He takes great pride in being a thief, and hates being referred to as a "common" criminal. Killing is something he avoids unless it is absolutely necessary, and never kills on a job. He tends to hide the fact he is a symenestra, and will often tell strangers he is a human. He has a hard time talking to people, and comes across as awkward. He is generally friendly, but has a tendency to be extremely callous to those who annoy him. History Ever since he was a child, Varric had a knack for getting into place he shouldn't be. The thrill of the hunt was what inspired him to leave his web in Kalimor and see the world, and fill his pocket along the way. He changed his name to Varric Ulex, a name he had read in a book, to further distance himself from his symenestra heritage.
