In the Western Quarter in close proximity the Nykshela Quarry lies a simple entrance to a rambling stone building that houses The Blinding Light Studio. A sign made of translucent crystal and silver denotes a shining gemstone hung over the professionally wrought silver lettering that gleams in any light giving a touch of elegance to the otherwise humble entrance. The Blinding Light Studio is the reserved abode of the Xannos Jewelcrafter Acolyte Lynkin who has a passion for turning raw gemstones and metals into truly beautiful works of art both for his Alvina and for the denizens of Nyka. Unlike traditional jewelry stores, The Blinding Light has no elaborate showroom and does not bother to display his work outright. Lynk lets his reputation speak for itself. Of particular note is the location of The Blinding Light. The Studio itself is so close the Xannos Headquarters that at dusk, the shadow of its towers would fall over the Studio, like Xannos's embrace. At Dawn, the studio's shadow seems to be bowing to the Headquarters itself, as if its even the architecture itself was designed to pay homage to Xannos. A visitor to The Blinding Light will be greeted by an entrance that welcomes people into a large gardened inner courtyard that clearly denotes the three main sections of the studio. First and foremost is a small but lavish entrance to a Commission’s Room where clients can walk in, request to see specific pieces of already crafted jewelry or commission unique pieces to be created for them. This room has elegant marbled floors and a large mahogany table with enough space to lay out multiple trays of stones, finished pieces, or house a monk and his sketch pad to help work out just what the client needs if they want to commission something unique done. All handling of all funds is carried out in this room. Large airy windows allow light to filter in and large oil lamps keep the room well lit even in the dark of winter so pieces of work can be properly appreciated. Off the Commissions Room to the west there is a series of small offices for monks that work within The Blinding Light Studio. To the east there is a large vault entrance that has a stairway leading downwards to where all the Blinding Light’s finished pieces are stored. Down a long hallway directly north of the large mahogany table is a long L shaped workshop that houses the jewelry forges and where most of Blinding Light’s main labor takes place. The studio itself is bathed in light from floor to ceiling windows that illuminate the workshop and provide the Monks with the best lighting possible. These windows are all carefully crafted to be able to be swung wide in the heat of Nyka's summers to allow breezes to cool the forge area. The studio itself curves around the inner courtyard providing lots of room and equipment for the monks to complete their work. All raw materials and uncut stones are stored in the vault in a separate section from the finished pieces. This vault is completely underground and carved from the marble that spills over underground from the Nykshela Quarry. This material makes up the bulk of what The Blinding Light Studio is built on and from, giving the entire place a quiet elegance. Opposite, a stairway going upwards leads to an expansive second floor which houses a series of living quarters, a small kitchen, and a common room used by the Monks at The Blinding Light Studio itself. In a small section off the courtyard opposite of the Commissions Room is a simple stables that provides shelter for mounts used by the denizens and visitors alike. ![]() NPCs
Name: Lynkin aka "Lynk" Race: Human DoB: 453 AV (58 YO) PoB: Nyka Title: Xannos Acolyte – Jewelcrafter Skills: Jewelcrafting 82, Engraving 77, Hammer 54, Singing 51, Politics 48, Drawing 35, Business Management 25, Riding 25 Gnosis: 2 Semele, 1 Eyris Lynk comes from a long line of Xannos Monks. He is in charge of The Blinding Light Studio and has been since the studio opened. Lynk is a very dedicated monk and a jewelcrafter of significant renown. He always takes several apprentices and often keeps them until the dangerous life monks lead in Nyka affects their lifespan or ability to cut and set gemstones or work precious metal. Lynk is approachable with a very subtle sense of humor. He finds great joy in what he does, but feels he is too old to be out on the streets defending the city when there are younger more vivacious monks to do that work. So instead he practices politics in the Xannos Headquarters, maintains rivalries among other craftsman monks in the system, and serves Xannos and Nyka’s people as best he can. Lynk is also a choirmaster of a Xannos Monk Choir that meets ever third day in the Tempered Anvil Headquarters. As such, Lynk can often be heard singing throughout his studio as he works. He has a lovely tenor voice. Price List

Apprenticeships
Lynklin likes to surround himself with apprentices who are in Xannos' Order. At any given time he might have anywhere from one to five living under his roof. In addition to apprentices in Jewelcrafting, he takes on those interested in engraving or business management. Lynk runs a choir that sings in Xannos' honor at the Tempered Anvil Headquarters events. Choir practice is once every three-day in which Lynklin drives his choir pupils mercilessly. Creation credits to Shade |
