Loves anime.
I'm also into anime. I have actually cosplayed once, a vampire named Maria Kurenai. I even had the opportunity to actually play the character impromptu when another cosplayer came up to me and dissed me, him cosplaying Zero. We exchanged lines, in our own world, I was Shizuka Hio.
My fandom does not end there. I also draw anime. In fact, aside from a good friend in highschool who taught me how to draw gundams and asuka langley shoryu, I mainly learned how to draw by reading manga. My drawing skills improved, but not so much. I remember drawing Trunks and Son Gokou of DragonballZ on my pad paper, over and over again. Being influenced by Japanese art is evident in how I draw, and later I found this to be my block as well. I can never draw characters past the age of 13. Loli characters, as some call them.
One time my best friend and I decided to work together. He can write, I can draw. So he challenged me to draw a zombie. Taken the above statement into consideration... it didn't turn out too well. We ended up planning for a dating sim game, nothing too fancy, but as it turns out writing a visual novel is barely half the work. I tried my best, and produced these three lovely ladies:
Anya, Therese, and Melissa.
(I'm actually surprised their poses could be put aside one another and they'd look like they were meant to pose together like that.) These were drawn before I had a tablet. I used a mouse. Bragbragbrag. I drew them a second, even third pose, and they are all neatly kept in a folder. They are ready, or so I thought. My flaw: they are supposed to be in highschool. They looked 16 to me when I drew them, but when I finished I realized that Anya could pass for a grade 3 student. Therese looks mature, but still not quite. Melissa is a pre-teen with big boobs.
The summer after that I had to go through an operation and the project was shelved. The year after I was on my last year in college, the business and thesis and all, and the project was left untouched. Now that my life has been rearranged, priorities straightened, I decided to pick the novel up. My best friend, still here for me, seems to be a little hesitant to try and finish, but I think he just needs a little persuasion.
I'm now trying to redraw them, and change the way they have been colored. The vector-like shading does not sit right with me.
For those of you interested what a visual novel is, I highly recommend Narcissu and Ever 17. There aren't a lot of english-sub Visual Novels, but if you are curious and need a past time, please visit
