Jahoma ![]() Basic Information Race: Human Birthday & Age : 467 AV, 45 Gender: Female Languages Common: Fluent Physical Description Jahoma is a rather plump woman with fair skin. She has grey hair and a thin drawn out face. She regularly wears simple black cotton clothes when out of her Speaker uniform. She has lived a hard life, and it shows on her face. Despite that, it is hard to see her without a smile. She's easy to anger, but in truth she rather enjoys being angry. She usually doesn't bother styling her hair, and leaves it mid-length. Character Concept Jahoma is not bitter. She's disagreeable. She does not bother learning other peoples names, instead giving them nicknames based on her first impression. She has no friends, and honestly never wanted any. She is set in her ways, and does not listen to anyone who tries to change them. She dislikes almost everyone, but has been known to take a fancy to the odd or defiant. She is a Speaker for the Womiyu, and finds her greatest joy in humiliating others. In truth she cares little for Ionu. Instead she joined solely to cause misery to others. She is most definitely sadistic, but is lawful too. She upholds laws and regulations, and gives others begrudging respect if they do the same. If they don't, she won't hesitate to do her job. She speaks her mind regularly and enjoys insulting others. She even enjoys being insulted, to some degree. She finds strife, and all suffering hilarious, and as such does not hold grudges to those who might do her harm. Whether others hold grudges against her is another story. Character History Jahoma was born to two drunkards, who barely even stayed sober enough to realize they had a daughter. As such she rarely, if ever, had any supervision of any kind. She had no friends as a child, and often vented by tearing the legs of small reptiles and mammals. She delighted in the release, and it made her feel much better about her situation as she saw the animals suffer. As she grew older, this grew to people. She would often set up rather vicious pranks on others, laughing at their misery. She once pranked the wrong person, however, and accidentally crossed paths with a Speaker. The Speaker, however, was kind and had pity on her. He took her on as an apprentice, and channeled her destructive energy into her work. He also attempted to show her the glory of Ionu, though he never really succeeded. Training Reimancy: 30 Teaching: 20 Brawling: 15 Stealth: 15 Observation: 20 |

Plant Name: The Hissing Lily Location: Temple of Ionu Season most Prominent: Spring General Description: The Hissing Lily is a plant with two flowers to a stalk. One produces a popular non-addictive hallucinogenic fruit. The fruit hangs below the lower flower, both of which come in rich shades of blue and purple. Over these, however, is a single large white flower with a hissing face. It is from these larger flowers that the plant gets its name. The larger flower attempts to bite all who get close. It warns those who stand too near with its hissing. If the warning should not be heeded, the white flower can bite the offender. The bite is painful, but non life-threatening. However, it is usually best avoided for reasons connected to the fruit of its lower flower. Usages: The fruit found underneath the petals of the Hissing Lily are a very popular hallucinogen. The fruit itself is rather bland, neither sweet nor bitter. Its popularity comes from several random effects and general feelings of euphoria. After the fruit is ingested, it takes only a few seconds for the subject to lose motor function and experience some of the following. Let it be noted that not all subjects react in the same way.
In addition to these effects, there is a general feeling of detachment, as if your body is not yours, but simply something you watch everything else from. The fruit is often used by priests and worshipers of Ionu in Religious rituals. Though during these times, some unlucky acolytes are required to oversee the process, and are not allowed to partake in them. This is so they can oversee the proceedings and make sure no one injures themselves. Preparation: While the fruit, for the most part, is harmless, it is very difficult to obtain. Not only that, but those who ingest the fruit must be watched by a third party or they risk putting themselves into very dangerous situations. It is not uncommon for an unwatched person to injure themselves. To obtain the fruit, one must brave the fangs of the Hissing Lily. The reflexes of the Hissing Lily are incredible, and it is extremely unlikely anyone could pluck the fruit fast enough to avoid being bitten. The Hissing Lily’s fangs hold no poison, per-say. But they provide a sort of antidote, negating the hallucinogen of its own fruit. Those bitten will not experience the euphoria or other common reasons why the fruit is harvested. After all, the fruit is rather tasteless and offers no nutritional value. This 'antidote' lasts for upwards of a week. The Hissing Lily’s fruit is commonly plucked by Ionu’s priests, who can use their marks to bypass the fangs with well placed illusions. It is much simpler to purchase these from the priests, than to pluck them from the plants. |

Reaper Beetles ![]() Type of Creature: Omnivorous, passive hunters, insects. Frequency: Common in the wilds that surround Alvadas. Major Features: Travel in large swarms and work as a collective, uses a form of illusionism, and creates a paralytic toxin. Abilities: Magic using insects that have developed the ability to create the illusion of thick fog. These swarms hunt in large clouds and follow prey around trapping them in a seemingly endless thick fog. Generally these creatures disorient animal and human sight and wait until they either fall or perish from the toxins they can produce. Most Common In: Shaded, forested, areas of Kalea. Summary/Abstract: We were lost in the forest for several long hours. A thick fog in the air along with a strange scent. We had walked these forests for several years and never had encountered this thick of a fog for so many hours. The smell it irritated my nose after a few hours. It burned my eyes after several hours. Trent, my dog had whimpered and convulsed near the top of the last hour. I stayed to see if I could do something to help him, but it’s body grew stiff. I could still feel it’s heart thumping but it didn’t take in any breath. The thump reached a crescendo before it grew still and I knew then my dog had passed. I finally decided to light a fire in the fog and noticed the fog had parted as if the heat created a barrier from the fog. The fog began to recede away from my dog’s corpse and as clarity greeted my eyes it revealed a swarm of winged insects. It had barely been a half hour, the fog had rolled back over my sweet pup’s body. The insects, invisible to my eyesight continued to eat and I watched in mild intrigue and disgust as the dog’s body was slowly dissolved to just bone in the fog. My breathing had instantly grown better, whatever that smell was it didn’t seem to linger near the flames. I used a torch to find my way back to the trail and out of that devilish trap. What fascinating insects. History: These insects as they are today were a result of the most recent Djed storm. Most likely the flying insects only were able to create an air born paralytic to kill small mammals such as mice and rats. They would lay in wait, sensing the heat signatures of their prey. They’d gas them, it only took a good whiff of their poisonous cloud to be effective, and wait for the animal to die before feasting on them. Their toxins are created due to their diet of a certain plant of which is also poisonous to other creatures. The ability to create the fog came as some of the insects began to behave as one unit after the Djed storm. Swarming, it became a natural ability to trick the senses into believing there is an actual thick fog. Their heat seeking abilities to spot mammals became heightened but they are essentially blind. This way to hunt food was beneficial to them due to being able to blanket larger areas in toxins as well as disorient animals to plunge to their deaths. Larger animals meant more food than what they could normally get singularly. Appearance: Beetle like, they grow to about the size quarter of a miza. Domed shells protect their wings while not in flight. Large mandibles at their front help tear meat and cut plant matter. They come in colors of all sorts but the most common colors in males are yellow, orange, and reds. Females generally come in darker colors such as brown, green, grey. |
