Race: Konti
Birthday (Age): Season of Winter, Day 3, 480 AV. (31)
Gender: Female
Physical Description:
Sho is a very delicate Konti, her violet eyes which once carried a pleasant luster were now dull and cold. Eye liner intended to draw out her features circled around her lids; perhaps at one point looking neat and enhancing were now and smudged runny, staining the Konti’s pale skin.
She licked her lips often which lead to causing them to grow dry and chapped and in the rare times that a smile became present, her bottom lip would often split just a touch but a rag was always nearby to dab at the cut.
She might have been almost super-naturally beautiful, but with her glossy gaze and exhausted appearance, “pitiful” would have been a more describable term--her clothing was no exception. Just by the look of her garments; what she wore must have been all that which she possessed. The black hand-me-down dress draped on her slender frame, torn in some places, holes along the sleeves; and was worn and dusty from travel and age.
Once she was fashionable, gorgeous, even sexy, and now nearly oblivious to the state of her physical appearance that had tarnished over time, not beyond repair but Sho herself seemed generally unconcerned or quite possibly unknowing of her physical appearance.
Because of her worn and dirty appearance, her age was quite difficult to discern.
Starting Character Concept:
(subject to change as the character progresses)
Nothing else describes Sho in any better way than ‘insane’.
The world, as she perceives it, is a device to remind her of all she has lost; the purpose of anything pleasurable is to taunt her with things she does not deserve, and self pity causes her to lash out in cruelty against beautiful things in hopes of achieving a twisted sense of ‘fairness’.
She is quick to seek retribution in instances where she feels she has been wronged, be it real or imagined. Often she dwells on the past to the point of obsession: If there is an object that reminds her of a happier past experience she will stop at nothing to acquire it; and if the ‘object’ so happens to be a living creature or person, the behavior is very much the same.
She day dreams often and prefers to be alone, therefore she is quite socially inept. It is particularly hard for her to bond or empathize with others, so more often than not, attempts to be friendly and playful typically come across as unsettling and creepy.
When it comes to confrontation, she will prefer to do anything she can to end it or please the other person, unless or until the proverbial cards are stacked in her favor and she is comfortable with the idea that she has total control over the situation.
History:
Sho originally was born into slavery and brought up in the dangerous war-like Myrian culture. Sho’s mother was a captured prisoner, forced into servitude for her usefulness and wit. Initially Sho’s birth was the only thing beautiful in a world of suffering for the enslaved young mother. Her view of lovely Sho began to change upon realizing Sho’s ‘gift’, and observing nearly sociopathic behavior from the young child being an empathetic seer born into a world of hurt.
Eventually she fell into the belief that her own purpose in life was to suffer; regretting, resenting, and even fearing young Sho’s existence. In a failed bout of depression, she did the only thing she felt she could to “escape” that life and committed suicide. The act left Sho feeling betrayed or “left behind”, and her views on the world became skewed in her lonely ambition to emulate the mentality and lifestyle of her captors.
Despite Sho’s best efforts to fit into the role of servitude in the Myrian culture, and the reputation of the Konti people, she was still treated with mistrust and contempt and all too often the victim of bullying and paranoid accusations that lead to various types of physical abuse.
It was a very hard life and Sho was able to carry on because she hadn’t experienced anything different, at least until her luck began to change when she was traded as a commodity from one Myrian family to another. The head of the family, a Watchmistress, delighted in the idea of a constant servant to cater to the mundane needs of the large household in order for members to focus on the objects of war, undisturbed by simple tasks. Even though highly scrutinized, it was the oldest Son, Riario, in the household who sought to gain the benefits of Sho’s Konti talents, specifically to use them against their enemies and potentially improve his standing within a matriarchal culture by displaying initiative and resourcefulness.
So with that in mind, he began to treat Sho differently than how the others treated her. He was not gentle nor did he baby her, but he related with her more often, and conversed with her while improving her sense of self worth by conveying how useful her and her gift really was. Because of this being the only positive interaction for quite some time, the sense of feelings she carried for this master became adoration. Time would go by and she found her heart beating faster at the end of daily chores in order to spend time with him, meanwhile he would bring extra food or more comfortable clothes with compliments to ensure her cooperation in using her Konti gifts.
Eventually her time spent with Riario became physical, and occasionally the two would share the same bed. Riario viewed the act as little more than a master enjoying his slave, but to the Konti slave, her admiration became love…and when in her best efforts it was never returned, it developed into obsession.
She began working harder at her tasks and going beyond her duties as a servant to impress him. Denial prevented her from admitting that he acted positively toward her only in the interest of personal gain.
Time passed and she became more desperate to have her love returned, but glimmers of reality would show through her personal fantasy when she could see the way he looked toward free Myrian women. After constant battling between shifting perceptions of self worth, and her mind constantly racing to convince herself he loved her in return despite constant rejection, something within Sho had cracked...
She slew Riario in a fit of rage, in an act of revenge and a twisted way to gain his attention, only afterward to come to clarity about what she had done. With great remorse and for her own survival, she hid his body in hopes of buying herself time to flee to freedom that she feels she never actually wanted.
Presently she wanders alone with some of his remains in hopes of finding his spirit, or locating his reincarnation sometime before she dies. It is her hope that one day he will see how she lives and suffers for him that he will somehow finally return her affection in his own way.
Konti Gift:
By skin to skin contact, Sho is able to sense deep seeded and long term fears about an individual; strongest fears or phobias are easily detected to Sho, and viewed in the form of short images of them. If the individual encountered has no phobia, then weaker fears are detected in the form of anxieties and worries.
