Known as the Celestial Seat, Nyka is a religious city in Northern Sylira. Ruled by four demigods and traversed by a large crevice, the monk-city is both mystical and dangerous. [Lore]

The Halls of the Robes

ImageDespite the many controversies and disagreements between the monks and their factions, there is a place of neutrality and truth standing within the Celestial Square. Equidistant between the four bridges that lead from each quarter, it holds all of the resources required by the Nykan priesthood, as a whole.

Its main purpose is to house the tools and tailors that spin, weave, dye, and stitch the robes for monks of all four quarters. The wool is delivered from across the wall and rest is completed at the workshop here. Each robe is made to the same standards by the same hands; none is lesser or greater than the other, except sometimes in the width of the waist. The defining insignia is embroidered last, and only once the robe is designated for an individual monk.

More often than not, the same citizens who man the looms are assigned shifts at the Halls’ extensive library, organizing the books and even transcribing the older ones. The long lines of shelves house are unique to the city and its people, including information on its history, mythology, politics, architecture, and more. The bulk of the tomes concern the chronology and dogma of Nykan religion, especially details concerning the monks, their organization, and even a few details on their respective skills. Any research done concerning the Aperture is also kept here, as well as records of trade and agriculture dating back to the first mortal Nykans.

There is a relatively small dining hall in the back, designed to feed the workers and the handful of monks and scholars who have spent the day there. The cooks will spice your apple or cook your slice of meat, but if you would rather let them keep your scrap (or are otherwise kind to them), you may receive a taste of the public stew that comes from a giant pot of virtually random ingredients. No bowl is the same, but each makes for a full belly and a warm heart.
