Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Once again she listened to the information that she was gaining from this man. being a Pycon information was a very vital thing to her and she always wanted to know more. For pycons often told information to others and also used the information that they gained to spin tales or use their knowledge to help others if they were the helping type, which often the were. her mind did however wander a little as she thought about other things that were realted in some way to her train of thought that she had at that moment althoughher thoughts never stayed on one track for long and soon switched again. Without realizing it as she sat there her mind gthering the informaiton her form began to shift slightly. The changed weren't immediately noticible but as she stood once again it was noticable. The little skirt she wore was longer and she was wearing a long sleeved shirt now instead of the tank top. When she turnedaround to pace back and fourth across the cousion it was noticble that her hair was no longer in a pony tail but was now in a bun. These minute changes made her form apprear older although it had been no conscioius effort of her own.

When she turned again to face him when he spoke his last words and lowered his hand to her, she smiled. She may have bene made from clay but she could sleep and breath like any other living being. She walked up to his hand and took a deep breath then blew hard against his hand through her mouth. Which suprisingly had a pretty good strength although she didn't actually have lungs, or a diaphram. Then she looked up at him and smiled and decided she ought to tell him a litle bit about herself so he needn't ask so many questions. "Ogh I'm just like most other living creatures, I still need to eat and sleep, I can breath and smell and see and feel like any other being. The only difference is that I don't have any internal organs, no blood, and I'm alive because of a small nexus in my head that animates me. If that nexus were to be destroyed or if I die of old age then my body would turn to stone I would no longer be the soft clay that I am now. And you see, I can easily be damaged by even just a light hit, but I can also easily heal and repair myself even if I am squished to a paste. Someone stepping on me would mean that I would need to eat a lot of clay for a few days then I would be back to normal, but other than that I don't need to worry. Thats why I'm partnered with Banir, we Pycons often pair up with someone of the bigger races in a mutual friendship. The Pycon keeps the peace and weaves stories while the partner then protects the pycon and keeps them safe."

She looked up at the human in front of her and saw how he was beginning to tense and get a little edgy. She wondered if he didn't like to sit for very long, and was beginning to need to move somewhere else. She tilted her head to the side a little then smiled. "If you want you can put me back on your shoulder and we can go move somewhere else, you look kinda tense and you keep moving around and shifting positions."

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Oluse watched in wonder as he counted the alterations on Falix's petite form. He envied her ability to shift, but not her size. And, he gave a smile and a nod, "Very good," to her formidable exhale. It would be sufficient to learn the technique he wanted to teach her.

When she moved onto explaining her race he was captivated. He even gave a short laugh when she commented on being squished to paste, and just needing to eat more. He made a mental note to ask Seiled if the clinic held a redy supply of clay encase a Pycon needed medical attention. He had been wanting to ask her about Pycon, but didn't want to be rude to the kind girl. He continued to be impressed by her as she showed a great capacity for empathy, in asking him if he would like to move. That empathy and attention to others bodies would serve her very well as a physician. "Yes, I was just thinking I would like to go warm a mug of tea. Winters are so cold here, and I've still not warmed up from my walk here this morning." With a smile he deposited the tiny clay creature back onto his narrow shoulder and stood up, then head toward the source of the clinic's appetizing smells.

"You'll love the workers in the kitchen. Most of them are Winterflame, and phenomenal cooks! My favorite is when they make-." His sentence came to an abrupt halt as the sturdy doors exiting the foyer tot he outside opened, allowing a roaring gust of cold air to blow into the otherwise well heated room. He immediately stopped walking toward the kitchen, and looked back. A Vantha man who appeared to be in his late twenty's came tromping out of the snow, the door shutting slowly against the heavy winds behind him. The man had a bloodied white handkerchief pressed to his hand, which he was cradling before him and holding tightly. Oluse, without further thought, approached the man, and spoke in basic Vani, "Hello, my name is Oluse, mind explaining to me what happened? We can step into a side room if you'd like some privacy." He gave a slight gesture toward a doorway, that presumably lead to a more private area. Oluse's attention had completely left the Pycon on his shoulder, almost forgetting she was there. The young doctor was consumed by the need to attend to his duties.

The Vantha gave a bit of an embarrassed smile, and a nod to the Pycon. He seemed familiar enough with what a Pycon was, and had obviously seen one before, regarding the creature as any other person, at least in his current state. With a short snort he said in decent common to the outsider, "Nah, that's fine. It's just a little scrape really. I was fletching some arrows and my clumsy fingers got the best of me."

Oluse was relieved to see the man still held a sense of humour, by far his favorite part about treating Vantha. Even when injured they had time to make jokes, and often times tell their stories triumphantly, as if it were some epic tale. "Ok, well do you still have all of your clumsy fingers?" He asked with a friendly smile and a joking voice. "How about you let me take a look at it, if the bleeding has stopped." Oluse switched back to common, which he was much more comfortable, thankful for the man's hospitality. He remembered the Pycon's existence at this point as well, which gave all the more reason to commence the conversation in common tongue.

"Yes, I managed to keep all the fingers for another day. Quite the success. Though, a few more arrows would have been nice." He smiled then remembered the boy's request. "Oh, yes m'boy. The bleeding has stopped. I think." He paused a moment and looked to Oluse, and his Pycon attendant. "Say, aren't you a bit young to be working here?" Despite his comment he began peeling the cloth away from his hand as Oluse has requested.

Oluse gave a smile to the comment as he leaned forward over the hand, making Falix work a little harder not to spill off the edge of her perching spot. "Yes, well I'm fourteen years old. But, I can assure you I'm good at what I do. It's a family trade and I started young." His speech got a little slower as he looked over the wound. It wasn't deep, just as the man said, and ran evenly through the abductor pollicis brevis, and slightly into the flexor pollicis brevis. Though his mind and eyes worked away at the wound his words continued. "This here is a brand new apprentice to the healing arts, Falix. She will be accompanying us today. That is if you feel comfortable with that." Oluse then nodded at the wound and finally looked up to the man's eyes. "I can, of course, go summon another physician if you'd like. An older one. But, I can assure you I can help you just fine, if you're willing."

The man looked at the boy, and his bloodied wound, then the Pycon. "Oh, no I'm fine. And nice to meet you Falix. But, well how is it? Needs some stitches, right?" He looked a little concerned now at Oluse.

Oluse nodded, with a kind expression. "Yes, a few sutures will be necessary. But, I have to commend your fletching skills. You got the tip very sharp indeed. It's a clean cut, and should have minimal scaring, as well as heal quickly. In a few years you won't even be able to see it anymore. Now, go ahead and keep that covered for now and we'll get you set up in the room over here." At that point the conversation lulled, and Oluse lead the small group towards an empty room, just off to the left of the foyer.

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Postby Falix on January 22nd, 2012, 12:31 am

She had been enjoying their conversation and let her mind wander a little pondering about what she had learned so far when he froze and turned. she saw the Vantha standing there with the cloth to his hand nursing what seemed to be an injury. She tilted her head watching but merely remained a silent observer to what was happeneing especiall when they broke away from common at first and she couldn't tell what they were saying. She watched as Oluse examined the man's injured hand, she saw the look in his eyes and recognized that look. It was a look of devout concentration, and letting one's mind work through the knowledge that he possessed. She was impressed by his work and how quickly he was able to analyse the injury. She was more so impressed when she heard his age. She had not thought him to be that young, defiantely young, but certainly not that young. She sat back and spent about half of her concetration trying not to fall from the man's shoulder and the other half of her concentration on what was going on. As was said before when he had a patient she would just observe and record what she saw, but a thought occured to her as she sat silent. She saw the depth of the wound and how long it was, as well as how clean the cut was. She began to go more in depth with the thought that had occured to her all the while her expression in deep thought and her body relaxed as much as it could be.

As they went into the private room, she looked at the surrounds of the room. Seeing the various tools and jars containing mysterious items. She looked around seeing a table that had several jars along it and so she decided to jump from Oluse's shoulder and landed on the counter so that she wouldn't be in the way or a hinderence to his movements. She opened various jars and peered inside. The curiosity was too much for her to contain now as she had new things to explore. Once in a while she would pull something out of the jar, simple things that one would find commonly in a doctor's office, and examine them. Because that she was a Pycon she had never actually seen the inside of a doctors office, since she had no need for medical attention at any time nor would she need any in her life span. As she looked at the items curiously she could hear the two of them conversing about something, likely the type of treatment or maybe they were haggling price. At this point she wasn't really paying attention to them and was more interested in the things she saw. At one point she found a large jar and her curiosity once again got the better of her.

Without hesitation she climbed up the heavy jar then removed the lid to look inside. What was inside would be of no interest to most people, but she had never sene these items before and decided to try and get a closer look. However by accident her grip slipped on the edges of the jar as she had leaned into it to look inside and the lid fell over on her and she fell inside of the jar the lid closing over to the top once again and trapped her inside. She didn't even know if Oluse had been paying attention and knew or had heard her fall inside. Since last she had been paying attention herself they had been talking. A pycons curiosity was at best a curse and a blessing. It drove them to do very risky things at time that often got them in trouble. She knocked on what she thought was one of the walls of the container, trying to get his attention, but her clay hands didn't make hardly any sound against the walls of the container.

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 22nd, 2012, 12:50 am

The room was simple enough. A heavy table, strong enough for five grown men to stand on, two sturdy chairs, a desk, which Falix had found herself on. An open front cabinet with various vials of remedies and herbal components along one wall, and a large closed chest setting by another. Oluse lead the man to the table, and did in fact speak to him about treatment as he hoisted himself up. Oluse grabbed an empty basin from the far side of the desk, and a carafe of fresh snow melt water from the vial shelf. Their conversation was casual as Oluse carefully cleaned the wound. Oluse took a moment to explain to Falix about cleaning wounds while he worked. His careful attention to what sort of strokes and things to be careful of lost, as he didn't realize the small creature had become completely distracted.

When he finally turned around to ask Falix to help him with something his brow tilted curiously. "Falix? Where did you go. I wanted to show you the herbal calcinator. Where she she go?" He looked at the man, who shrugged. "Right, well. I'll just get that wash ready for you, then." He walked to the chest of many objects, and pulled out some complex looking glass and metal tools. Carrying them to the desk Falix was trapped upon he continued speaking. "We already have some made, if you'd prefer. But, the best infection fighting herbs are going to be getting a bit past their prime here in a few weeks. So it seems a good excuse to use them up, making you a fresh mix." He gave the man a smile over his shoulder, then looked back to the equipment, striking at a device meant to start a spark. It took a few tries but he got the flame lit, slid it under the calcinator and began filling it with a carefully measured quantity of water, then moved to crushing the other ingredients into a mortar. He stood close enough at that point to here Falix where she to call out. That is if his mind wasn't too distracted trying to figure out where she had gone.

She could here everything that was going on although she couldn't see it. So she had heard him talking about what needed to be done to treat the wound but hadn't been able to see it. Once she had fallen inside of the jar her concentration had gone back to the other two in the room focusing on what they were saying and listening for a lul so that she could hopefully be able to speak loudly enough to be heard. She had noticed that her banging on the walls was useless, and so then she tried shouting at the top of her lungs. She may have been small but she carried a loud voice, suprising for one her size. "Oluse! Oluse! get me out of here! I'm inside one of your jars." At this point she was getting frsutrated and scared, it showed in her voice. She didn't like being trapped inside of the small and dark area, it scared her and she wanted out. Pounding away at the walls had done nothing to help her situation of getting out other than maybe smashing her hands a little. She kicked the jar and threw herself against the wall getting more and more frightened soon becoming panicked. she kept screaming and calling out to either of the pair hoping that at least one of them would pay attention or hear her.

Without realizing it her form changed again, this time she had taken on the original form she had met him with, the courage that had made her change before was completely gone at the moment, although from all her banging aroud the clay that formed her was a bit flattened in some parts and slightly squished although she still maintained her general form, her mind was too frightened to try and repair herself. She hoped at least with the banging around that it would cause the jar to move around some and maybe he would hear her from inside of it and know that she was inside.

As Oluse mixed away at the herbs his ears picked up the calls for help. A bit surprised he stepped away from the screaming jar, turning his back to the Vantha man. "Falix?" He asked astonished at her predicament, and stepped back to the desk. He set the pestle and mortar down, and lifted the lid off the jar, peering inside. The jar was his disposal jar, where the doctors that used the room to threw all of their garbage into. Being early in the day the jar was luckily for the Pycon still pretty empty, only containing a few scraps of dried herbs. Scraps that stuck well to Falix's moist body. Oluse fought a laugh as he reached in. "Oh no, how did you get in there?"

Carefully he scooped her out, as the Vantha man chimed in with a less skillfully suppressed laugh. "That's what you get for not keeping an eye on a Pycon!" He exclaimed, evidently finding the whole situation hilarious, despite the pain in his hand.

Oluse offered the man a sarcastic smile, "Somebody was distracting me." He then directed his attention back to Falix. "Oh no, you're all dirty. Here let me go refill the basin for you."

Not being able to resist the retort the man chuckled again. "She is dirt, how can she be dirty?" He was really getting going now, and trying to catch his breath he said, "I'm sorry, Falix. I had to."

Oluse just shook his head, letting Falix speak for herself. He would usually mind somebody distracting him from his work, but Falix seemed to be making his patient laugh, and that's something he didn't get to hear as much as he would have liked to. Sometimes the clinic just didn't have enough joy. Quietly he brought the cleaned basin with water back to the desk and set it beside the Pycon. Then picked his pestle and mortar back up, to continue his work.

By the time she had been taking out of the jar she was breahting hard and clung to his hand for a minute until she realized that she was out then looked around. She let out a sigh of relief as her body quickly fixed itself without much conscious effort. Then she looked over at the Vantha who was getting a kick out of her dilehma. She couldn't help but turn slightly childish and stuck her tongue out at the man. Which only brought on another round of hooting and laughter from the man. she puased and thought about it for a minute. for whatever reason she had managed to entertain the man and kept him smiling. she got a brilliant idea and smiled proudly. She wuickly cleaned the garbage off of her moist clay skin and cleaned up a little but before she shook the water off then she went over and jumped on Oluse's shoulder again and whispered something to him that the other man wouldn't be able to hear. "I have an idea...I know from having heard people talk about it that getting stitches into their skin can be painful and hurt...how about I entertain your patient since he seems to think I'm funny already that way I can keep his mind distracted from the pain while you stitch up his hand. By the time your done he won't even know that you did anything since he would have been too busy laughing." She then hopped down off his shoulder again and landed back on the desk so that he would be able to see her expression and her his.

She thought that it was truely a great idea, remembering what he had spoke of earlier about the patients emotions and the man already seemed to be in good spirits so why not keep it going if it kept him from having his suffering prolonged anymore than it needed to be. She also thought it was a good way to keep the pateint still and not to think too much on what was going on with his hand and the needle that would soon be slidding under his skin and fixing up the wound.

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 22nd, 2012, 3:30 am

Oluse smiled with adoration toward the Pycon. She truly had a bright and infectious sense of wonder about her. He nodded in acceptance of her plan. He wanted to teach her how to stitch, but figured there would be plenty of other opportunities. So, when the equipment finished it's work he blew out the candle, and gathered his oil. Before he walked off with it he gave a wink to Falix, and grabbed a fine bone needle.

From the vial display he gathered some very fine organic thread, and went to his patients side. "This may sting a little, but at least it wont be cold. You just go ahead and keep mercilessly making fun of my friend over there, ok?"

The man gave another hardly laugh to this. "Oh, I don't mean to be rude. She is just awfully cute!"

"Yes, she sure thinks so anyway." Oluse replied with a smile and firmly grabbed the man's hand. "Now hold still, or you'll end up with your hand sewn to your nose." Even Oluse was starting to feel quite jovial about the whole thing, and he got quiet, listening to what Falix had to say.

Skillfully, obvious that he had sew sutures dozens of times before, he applies the numbing salve, and dipped the needle into the same concoction. It would help fight infections and dull the pain. He then carefully coaxed the skin together, and began sewing and tying one stitch at a time as he listened to the little one.

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

She smiled taking the hint from Oluse, then she just let her natural self come out holding little conscious control over herself. She paced back and fourth across the desk pretending to bedeep in thought, then she snapped her figners like an idea had just come to her.She quickly ran behind one of the items on the table that was large enough to hide herself behind then with a bit of grunting she came out again, having taken a form that was completely different from the form she had had ebfore. She no longer resembled a human girl at all but rather, she resembed an Akvatari. The change had been painless to a degreee but it had been somewhat uncomfortable. When she had the form she moved out from behind the jar and having grabbed a small ball of vloth used to stanch bleeding she sat down laying back against her hands and started to use her "fins" to kick the ball into the air only to have it land back on her tail and throw it up again but this time she turned flipping over so that it landed on her head then she let it roll down her back and kicked it again with the fins. Then as she continued to do silly tricks moving around with the ball and flipping it off her tail or "wings" she began to sing a silly song, that had nothing to do with reality, but why not she was trying to be funny right?

"and on the back of the Akvatari rides a little turtle, and this little turtle one day desides that he wants wings too! so he travels 'round the world going sea to sea, and what does he find? but a little crocodile who was sad. The turtle went to the crocodile to see what was wrong. The little crocodile said that he was sad because he didn't have a friend. The turtle smiled and said "I'll be your friend!" the little crocodile was so happy that he jumped into the air and shouts "hip hip hooray!" the turtle coldn't help but laugh then got an idea. he told the crocodile that he was on his way to get his wings. The crocodile smiled a big toothy grin and told the turtle he would come along! The two travelled together and soon who do they find? They find a seagull! The seagull was sitting staring into the water. "No fish biting tonight" he says and is about to fly home.

the crocodile and the turtle call to the seagull and say "hey if we bring fish for you will you take my friend flying?" the seagull agrees and the crocodile and the turtle swim down below to get some fish for the seagull. The seagull his bill full and his tummy sated smiled and took the turtle off to fly! The three become friends and played games together all the time!"
at the end of her song/little tale she leapt up into the air still looking like an Akvatari, and caught the little ball of fluff in her hands and gigged before plopping back down landing on the tips of her fins and giving a galant bow.

Preperations and a new friend (Oluse)

Postby Oluse on January 22nd, 2012, 4:38 am

Oluse's face, though he distantly listened to the tune, he remained devoutly concentrated to his work through the song. The man he struggled to keep steady, however, was entertained at the beginning. He was chuckling part way through, and by the end he was uproariously laughing. Oluse was afraid he might go to clap his hands together is Falix's presentation got any funnier. Or that the Icewatch guards might come in to see is something was wrong.

One thing Oluse could commend was Falix's endurance. She drew the presentation out for all four stitches, and Oluse got to watch the end of her presentation with a smile. He was horribly lost on the plot, but he laughed anyway, more from the infectious mood of his patient than anything. Oluse did clap, and even grabbed his patients healthy hand and clapped once against it.

"Very good my little apprentice." He said with a smile. "Very good indeed. I think you've got him crying." Oluse said looking to the Vantha man, who abashed gave another chuckle.

"Wow, you two are quite the team do all of your patience get this kind of treatment?"

Oluse just smiled and looked to the little Pycon. "I sure hope they do from now on." Oluse then wrote up the man's bill with a smile, and sent him home, happy with the clinic's service.
