The Lovers’ Bridge Where other bridges may seem bleak or daunting, this one has somehow gained a reputation as a place of concentrated luck and happiness. Connecting the Southern Quarter to the Central Square, the Lovers’ Bridge has become a popular location for couples to meet, to stray from the world’s evil and their own harsh lives, if only for a few minutes. In fact, many sit against its sides in order to mediate and attune with the energies of youth and joy. Though it is not immune to the terrors unleashed by the crevice it crosses, the people always call such an occasion a mistake, or the result of a lovers’ quarrel. Though not as intricately designed as others, there is a tenderness to its simple lines and smooth arc that is said to inspire a smile in even the most hardened monk; its pinkish color seems less like a blood stain and more like sweet color of infatuation. Some believe that leaving a token of love in one of these holes, be it a gift or a note or some other sentimental thing, will bring luck to a relationship. Some hope that their worship here will attract the favor of Cheva, the Mother City, or even the Heart of the World itself. Each addition to the bridge’s walls pushes the one before it further to the other side, and occasionally some gifts fall into the Aperture. Whether this brings good or bad luck is a subject of ongoing debate among the lovers of Nyka. Photoediting by Ink |
