The ancient West Wing of the Zeltivan University is one of the most prestigious places in Mizaharian Academia. Housing the College of Applied Skills, it is the location for the teaching of the traditional subjects and arts. History is the focus, but lessons on literature, mathematics, and the natural sciences are also taught in full force. Art, theatre, music, and dance, are all taught here on a smaller scale too. In the past few years however, the West Wing's popularity has plunged - superseded by the more modern and experimental East Wing.
The West Wing is governed by tradition, and steeped in ritual. There is a large Ball held at the end of Winter, heralding the new year. It is always a sell out, full of music, dance, and refreshment. It is not only exclusive to West Wing students either; students in other parts of the University, and even non-academic Zeltivan citizens are welcome. Other events are frequent through the calendar year.
The building itself is pre-Valterrian, constructed from local granite. Half of its prestige is due to the fact it is one of the only buildings still standing following the divine cataclysm that destroyed much of Mizahar. The decor is ornate, and gives off an 'old world' vibe.
The West Wing is a standing stone; a testament to a bygone era.
