Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

35th Day of Winter 511 AV It was late evening and almost completely dark outside. An Isur with short black hair was looking out of the small window of a shop ran by his family. He was sitting behind the counter, waiting for customers, even though he knew very well, that nobody would come to the shop at this hour, but still he had to sit here until it would be time to close.
His left greenish hand was resting under his chin and the right was laid on the counter and fingers were drumming on the wooden surface. He was bored. Utterly and completely bored.
The shop was small, square room lit by a flickering fireplace in the right corner of the room and some candles that were placed on the counter which stood next to the fireplace. The shop was decorated quite plainly. The walls were simply white and various weapons were hanging there on display - knives, daggers, swords and axes.
These weapons were made specially for the shop by his mother. Like every item made by an Isur, these weapons were more durable than other weapons made by other races. The prices were a bit higher than those of ordinary weapons but people were coming to the shop, so Tainon's family didn't suffer.
Tainon yawned, He stood up and stretched his arms above his head. Then he sighed and slowly walked out of the shop. It was a little cold outside, but he was tired of sitting whole afternoon. He leaned against the wall and started looking around, hoping, praying that someone would come, so that his time wasn't completely wasted. |

Sometimes Ifran needed to explore the multifarious streets of Alvadas for new and surreal places. He had spent the vast majority of his life in Ahnatep, and knew its ins and outs, but after almost a year in Alvadas, he felt that he had barely scratched the surface. It didn't help that its surfaces shifted and changed with the flow of its own whims, or those of Ionu, perhaps.
On those streets in Ahnatep, one learned to watch for danger, and so his eyes fell upon the Isur by the door of his shop before he paid closer heed to the shop itself, a place that sold weapons. He wondered whether they sold khopeshes of their Isurian steel. Well, it was always nice to look, in any case. As he approached the door, he quickly towered over the well-muscled smith or, if not a smith, merchant of arms.
He nodded a greeting, slowing his progress. Perhaps this one was the gatekeeper.
"Are you open?" he inquired with mild politesse. |

As Tainon stood there in front of the shop, it was getting more and more dark. But still, he stood there like a statue, thinking that he was no better use sitting inside. At least I get a bit of fresh air, he thought.
He started to daydream about his plans for next day. He wanted to find some quiet place, far from the city, so that no one would see him, and practice some new moves. And no one will keep me away from it like today, he promised to himself.
With one last look at both sides of the street, Tainon resignedly shrugged and turned to open the door of the shop, but suddenly he caught a glimpse of something. He stopped and squinted into the darkness and saw a man approaching. A man with six arms.
Tainon's heart skipped with anticipation. He watched as the man looked at the shop as if contemplating something. Then he came closer and nodded at the Isur to greet him. Tainon managed to suppress a little smile that was threatening to appear on his face and returned the gesture with a serious expression.
"Yes, yes we are." he replied at the question. "Do you want to come in?" he offered and motioned at the door with his left hand. |

"Please," he said graciously, chock full of noblesse oblige.
When the Isur stood aside, he stepped up and through the door, eyes slitting down to grow accustomed to the light differential. He strode confidently to the nearest display case, attempting to get a feel for the level of skill. Some merchant selling second rate merchandise might hire an Isur to sit outside, drawing customers in with false advertising. Alvadas was all about seemings, moreso than most places, and Ifran knew better than to trust his eyes.
At least it was warmer inside. It was a mark of his strength of will that he ever left the Playhouse with the city in Winter's grip. Even when it wasn't very cold outside, he assumed Ionu or the City itself were merely playing a trick on the senses, and that if he went out without layers of clothing, he would die of exposure, a desert creature confused by real weather.
"Hm," was all he said. It was not a good idea to show too much appreciation; merchants were quick to tack on fees and whatnot to squeeze a few extra coins out of a man. |
