Kujyaku walked off the boat, and looked at the city. The dock smelled of fish, but it was exciting for her. She trampled a bit, then regained her balance, as the minor sea sickness came to be. It was the latest boat to arrive, thus it was nighttime as Leth came an took is claim. She was human at the moment. She decided it was best to be human when I arrived. Walking down the dock, she gazed at the immensity of the city. It was bigger then she ever would of thought.

Seeing mostly humans walk off the boat, with only a small percentage of other species she was getting nervous. She heard from the people on the boat that other species were excepted rather well though, as even Nuits come here.
She walked, looking at the city aglow then found her little cottage. Unlocking it, she quickly fell asleep, wondering what would happen for her tomorrow.

2nd of Summer, 513AV

Arturo was asleep below deck when the ship came in to port. The shuffling above was just enough to rouse him into a somewhat groggy state. He was already on the dock before he fully took notice of his surroundings, blinking the last of a bad night's sleep from his eyes. He stood bare-chested with his meager belongings tied up in his tunic over his back with his quiver and arrows at his hip, his longbow in hand used lightly as a cane. It had been a ling trip from Syliras, it felt like several years had been spent seaborne... It felt nice to have a sturdy ground underfoot once more... Almost a relief. Despite the sturdiness of the ground, it still felt foreign to him, this city was foreign to him... With a sigh he moves inland. "If I were a pub, where would I be..." He mumbled on his path.

Yumi looked at the island apathetically as the ship neared the island. It didn't look it, but she couldn't wait to get off this boat and onto solid land; sea sickness was beginning to creep up on her.
As the boat slowly sailed to the dock she was about ready to jump off-the dock was teasingly close-but she held herself still; she didn't want to risk falling into the water and needing to be saved like some idiot.
Once it docked she walked off and looked around. Ignoring the fish smell she walked off to figure out what to do now. "Maybe I can find somewhere to eat first..." She muttered, the sighed realizing she had no idea where anything was. After contemplating the thought of buying a map she shrugged, "I'll just wing it, a pub can't be that hard to find."

42nd day of Summer 513 AV

Low mountains lined the sides of the Mirahil pass. Halfordine looked down to Zeltiva from the top of the pass. The rhythmic crunch of the grains and soil beneath her feet was strangely reassuring. She mulled over the courses she would take and wondered if she may have troubles catching up on classes since most have already begun.

As the main city loomed closer into view, she felt the tiny knot of fear start to tighten in her stomach. She was confident in her way-finding skills, but the uncertainties that come with starting out on her own in a new city still chipped at her outer image of calm. Her expression betrayed none of her emotions. Years of travelling had taught her that much. There was no greater target than girl looking scared and alone.

Stepping off the pass into Zeltiva, she could see a few small blocks of houses. The imposing structures of the university and the Old Quarter quickly came into view. The musky smell of parchment and books intermingled with the faint salty scent of the sea. The mid-afternoon sun beat down heavily as traders moved past her to get to the docks and market. Two students ran past her, cloaks flying and parchment ruffled, and through the main doors, looking slightly panicked. She quietly surveyed the aged façade of the main building, and entered.

37th Summer 513AV

The approaching land was a more than welcome sight, it had been a very long trip and Serena was glad to have finally reached her destination. She couldn't wait to get off the horrid ship that she'd been stuck on for the past weeks, the crew didn't bathe nearly often enough and the food wasn't much better.
It seemed the only person who had enjoyed the trip was the captain of the ship, who was under the impression that his deeds would win him the heart of the beautiful Serena...Ha!

The man was little more than a drunkard with a ship in her eyes. If only he knew that not even the IDEA of winning her favour by providing her with free sea-fair was his own. Still, he had been rather compliant to her manipulation(unbenounced to him) and she had barely had to lay a finger on him to convince him his plan(her's actually)
was working. Meanwhile, the closest he'd gotten was kissing her hand.

All that aside, the man's uses had finally been exhausted and she had arrived at her destination, Zeltiva...a new city full of people, ready to give her whatever she desired.

There was the dock, coming ever closer to her. She didn't like being on a boat, she felt wobbly, and sick for the whole trip; seasickness no doubt.
When the boat finally hit the dock, she hopped off it and on to dry land. She breathed in the nice fresh air, and felt much better. She didnt mind the smell of fish in the air, all it meant to her was that there was food somewhere.
She stretched out her arms, happy she was able to now without fear of tipping over her boat. Her bright eyes flicked around from sight to sight, wanting to find a place to eat.
"Can't be that hard to find a good pub around here." She said, still looking around.

[Entrance] The Rolling Waves

Postby Ceira Everwood on July 16th, 2013, 1:09 pm

7th Day of Summer, 513 AV

The sound of gentle hoofbeats and the creak of the wagon accompanied Ceira’s entrance to Zeltiva. The rowdy caw of seagulls could be heard in the distance, the white-feathered beings spiraling up and down on the thermals above the crystalline ocean. Both Ceira and the merchant beside her had long ago slipped into a comfortable silence, rarely making anymore idle conversation. The wagon rounded the mountainside and crested over Mirahil Pass, allowing Ceira to take her first glimpse of the sprawling and bustling port-side city. From here she could see the multitudes of coloured boats floating on the water, some with their sails drawn and others about to leave.

“It’s a nice sight, 'tis it not?” The gruff voice of the merchant made her snap back to attention, now noticing they were approaching the checkpoint. A guard could be seen walking past, just keeping a wary eye on any travelers passing through. The merchant put up a hand in greeting, to which the guard only gave a curt nod and a stern eye to the pair. Ceira just ignored them both completely, still taking in the sights of the city. Her eyes darting everywhere, trying to gain the most out of every glance - she valued every sight. The cart rolled down to a stop at the bottom of the Pass and Ceira took this as her cue to leave. Turning around, she addressed the merchant whilst examining her purse, “So how much did I owe you for the trip?”

The merchant spat to the right, before shaking his head. “You don’t owe me nothing. You caught them rabbits last night and the company was welcome.” He smiled, showing yellowed teeth whilst he extended his hand, “You don’t get talking to many people on the road, ‘specially in the Wilds.” Ceira allowed herself a small smirk before politely shaking his hand, “You saved me a great deal of walking. Thankyou.” She glanced at the doe-eyed horse who pulled the cart, giving it a pat on its chestnut neck before shuffling away.

“If you're looking for an inn, there's one about... that way!” She heard the old man yell across to her. She noted the direction of his outstretched arm before turning around to give him a mock salute, walking off to explore.

[Entrance] The Rolling Waves

Postby Dastino on July 23rd, 2013, 12:19 am

The waves on the side of the boat made him vomit profusely. "'Ey, throw your insides up OVER the damn boat," yelled an angry shiphand. Dastino groaned and nodded, his guts not used to this type of torture. He looked up from his overflowing puke bucket to see Zeltiva docks. "Aaah... home," thought Dastino. He gathered his things and called for his loyal pet owl, Horn. The small ship scraped against the dock to a screech. Other travelers gathered their things and brushed past Dastino. He ran towards the exit, rushing to get to the University to claim a dormitory. Sailors were looking him up and down in the most menacing ways, muttering under their breath. He could jinx all of them, but he was calm and collected as his boots thunked against the wooden dock floorboards. Then he saw it: Zeltiva University.

[Entrance] The Rolling Waves

Postby Koth on July 23rd, 2013, 12:50 am

Day 17, Summer of 513 AV
Mid-Afternoon
Mirahil Pass

The pass is quiet today... Brayn thought as he nodded to the driver of a small cart on its way into the city. A heavy canvas covered the back of the wagon, its center bulging nearly to the height of the driver's balding head. Probably carrying crates of wheat or corn from some farm beyond the city. Brayn tried to peek through the cover as the cart passed, but the canvas was pulled taut by thick ropes around the rim of the wagon. Nevertheless, the mere thought of freshly boiled and buttered corn caused him to salivate.

Brayn leaned back against the high rock wall of the pass, eyeing the slow rolling clouds as they passed overhead. He looked over at his companion who was squatting on the other side of the pass. He held a little cloth sack in his lap that his wife prepared for him every morning, and his pike stood nestled against the rocks in the wall. He was staring intently into the sack, picking out oats one by one and popping them into his mouth. The man’s lazy demeanor made Brayn wonder what would happen if an army suddenly marched down the pass. What could he and that squatting fool possibly do against that? Brayn closed his eyes and dismissed the thought. What good would it do to worry about these things on such a day? He felt a small breeze touch his skin and he drifted off to a place where there were no such worries. He smiled at his peaceful contemplations as cloud rolled overhead, shadowing his closed eyes.

"Excuse me?" a deep voice rattled Brayn's insides and caused him to jump. He turned toward the source of the sound and immediately wished he hadn’t. He shuddered again, twice startled, and dropped his pike. A huge beast towered above, casting its shadow in a wide expanse around him.

Koth looked curiously at the startled guard. He had come to expect that reaction from the Humans he met on his long journey from the Spires. Too few sentient beings in this world had ever met a Jamoura. He couldn’t blame them, most of his kind spent their days cooped up in the Spires, telling stories and sharing knowledge. Not that that was a bad way to live, he enjoyed his years in the Spires immensely, even now he missed it, but the knowledge he wanted could not be found at home.

“Excuse me,” he said again in his slow, lumbering voice. He put on a mild, tight-lipped smile, and made sure to move and speak as slowly as he could, which was generally quite slow. The Jamoura found that smiling often and moving slowly was the best way to deal with the nervous races he encountered.

“Y-yes?” the guard stammered with such apparent effort of will that Koth could not help but feel some sympathy for the poor man.

“Could you direct me to the University Registrar’s Office?” he continued in a heavy and deliberate tone. “I am to meet the Registrar as soon as I arrive and I am afraid I do not know my way around the city.”

Koth offered his best and toothiest smile. It was the one with which he had the most success, often eliciting smiles in return, and even the occasional giggle or laugh, though he was not sure why. The guard appeared to be genuinely relieved by Koth’s simple request. He pointed down the hill at a collection of buildings near the exit to the pass.

“The University is there right as you enter the city, you can’t miss it,” the guard spoke quickly and in a higher pitch than one would except from his lips. “The Registrar’s Office is the building with the stone lions at the door.”

Koth thought he could make out the building the guard described in the distance. He thanked the man and bowed his head slightly then moved down the path. Looking at the cluster of buildings ahead, he was beginning to understand why the University of Zeltiva was spoken of so highly by those who visited the Spires. The city itself was massive, housing many times over the population of his home. He imagined the University must be sized accordingly. He smiled as he neared the first buildings of the city. There was so much to learn here, and he had all the time in the world to learn it…

Summer 513, Day 36
Hmph. This city seemed too bright, even from high up in the pass. Athinar rode his horse down the rocky path to the city, trotting at a decent pace. Whistling to his dog, Harvey, he motioned for him to follow him closely. Riding along the right side of the street, with Harv following behind, he headed towards the World's End Grotto, grumbling at the general brightness of the city.
