Age 19 Gender: Male Languages Language 1: Common Fluent Physical Description Martin is very tall, standing at 6'5" but is very lean at only 212 pounds. He has long, jet-black hair, and blue eyes. He is fair skinned and has a chiseled face. He has some scars on his chest and crooked teeth. He looks far older than he actually is. Character Concept Martin is very lighthearted and doesn't take things too seriously. While he can be naive at times he's still fairly intelligent. Martin's very optimistic and doesn't truly hate anyone or anything. He really loves music and the written word and will always jump at the opportunity to sing a song, hum a melody, or tell a story. Martin's morality is very strong. He has a clear cut sense of right and wrong. Martin's incredibly hesitant to break laws or resort to tactics such as murder or theft. Character History Martin was born and raised in Zeltiva. His father was a dockworker and his mother was a maid at a tavern. Martin lived a sheltered live until he was five and his father died at sea during a terrible storm. His mother then would have to raise him on her own, so the young Martin would accompany his mother to her job at the tavern. This was where Martin began to develop his love of music. Every day there would be a new bard, telling a new story, singing a new song, playing a new tune. Martin was captivated by the abilities of the bards and grew to idolize them and sought to follow his passion. He would always go to the university, getting whatever song books or stories he could find in the university library. He would read every story he got at least twice; he would sing every song near constantly. When he was ten, his mother got very sick and he thought that it was time for him to perfect his trade as a bard. This meant having to learn a musical instrument. While the bards would come and go at the tavern his mother worked at, one of the few regulars was a bard named Gaius Flynn. Of all the bards, Flynn was Martin's favorite. His ability was unmatched by the other bards in the tavern. When Martin asked if he could apprentice under him, Flynn was more than happy to accept. Martin studied under Flynn's tutelage and would serve as a sort of back up to Flynn during some of the more complicated songs. In turn, Flynn would give him a share of his earnings which Martin would give towards medicine for his mother. Sadly, the next year, his mother gave in to the illness that plagued her. This led to Flynn adopting Martin and Martin's studies continued. Martin finally finished his apprenticeship at 17 and was given a custom made flute by Flynn. Now a fully trained bard, Martin played at various taverns and inns throughout Zeltiva until he was 19 when he started to get bored of the town. He felt that, as a bard, he needed to experience the world and learn songs and stories from all parts of Mizahar. So he said his goodbyes to Flynn and managed to attach himself to a trade caravan heading to Ravok. Martin was able to survive by staying out of the way whenever the caravan got ambushed and using brawling techniques he gained from breaking up fights at the tavern as a last resort. Eventually, he managed to make it to Ravok, despite the wounds he received on the journey.
