Oluse rose early, much as he did every day. But, instead of trudging through the frigid snow to work, he made his way to the Frozen Falls Market. He had wandered through on occasion, but had never had much business there in the past. This day was different.

Armed with a mental list of the supplies he needed for the upcoming travel he moved with purpose through the quiet morning streets of Avanthal. His mind was relaxed, for he had slept well for once. No dreams plagued his mind, which left him to dedicate his entire attention to his acquisition of goods.

That was, his entire attention that was not drawn away by the sights around him. As always his mind was dominated by his physical surroundings. He went to the falls at the center of the market and stared up at them for some time, drinking in the sight, and reflecting on it's nature. How the burst and pray was much like the excitement within himself. Gushing out, but also turbulent, like the fear he held in his heart. Fear of what might happen on the road. Still, he could see tranquility and a natural grace within the spectacle, and silently wished he would, during his travels, find that within himself as well.

Eventually, he regained his focus on his day's tasks, and decided to head for the gadget shop first, to order the most important of the day's purchases. A beautiful ornate compass. It would have to be perfect, and he had deliberated a long time over the engraving he would put into it. And, had with careful thought came to the perfect conclusion.
