Aerika's confrontation with Kelwyn:
Feeling the wind caressing her body, Aerika was standing on top of a stack of boxes, her eyes closed and arms help out, simply enjoying the cool breeze of the weather. Aerika had not a care in the world, not a single plan was made, she merely wished to enjoy the simplicity of the day. Her Pit-name had continued to grow as she was found in fight constantly throughout the street, having a day to herself was enjoyable, no fights, no cares. Her coin purse was full to its brim and her stomach was full from meat previously eaten. The little girl was on the outside of the walls of the city, trying her best to stay away from the constant drama of being known as the Blood-Stained Fox. With not a care in the world, she took off on a walk, stretching her legs, do nothing more than enjoying the coolness of the wind and the clearness of the sky.
Aerika ventured out to a pathway the lead someway out into the forest, the forest was giving a beautiful sight to her as the light trickled through the branches. Aerika's thoughts began to race as she started humming to herself out in the middle of the pathway, waving her arms from side to side and almost skipping with each step. Her eyes closed and and her voice sang out with closed lips, filling the forest with a beauty matching its own. The air around her began to warm-up slightly and her child-like skip was growing faster, moving her down the pathway at a rather quick pace. Completely losing track of distance and time, a couple of hours passed before she was brought out of her trance and noticed she had ventured far away from the city.
The air had warmed to an almost unbearable heat, the nice calming wind had disappear long ago. Her joyful singing gone, leaving the forest completely silent. No creature was heard moving or calling out, the leaves were still and her body had begun sweating. Aerika's white dress was clinging to her skin in a most uncomfortable manner, and her face showed distaste for the heat. The arctic fox shed her dress and pants in an attempt to cool her body down. With no wind, her body simple continued to sweat in discomfort as she was now forced to walk the long path back toward her adopted home.
Aerika continued down her path, and luckily to her surprise, the weather was finally cooling down once more, the wind had picked back up, and several clouds moved into place blocking the merciless sunlight. The sweat the trickled down her body delivered a wonderful cooling sensation as the wind picked up. Eventually, the wind continued to run, growing stronger and stronger, rushing past her bare body hard enough to obscure her view in front of her; hurting her eyes forcing them shut. The clouds above had grown dark and the sky began to rumble, a sound that the little kelvic surely did not enjoy. Such a simple day with a simple walk turned into a most fearful event.
The sky grew louder and darker, making large crackling noises and suddenly pouring with rain. As the rain touched her body, she shivered from the cold, causing her body to develop goose-bumps all over, and holding her chest tightly with her arms. Thoughts of grabbing her clothes to put them on once more passed through her head, but the thought of having to let go of her body's remaining warmth kept her from doing so. Aerika's body began to shake so violently that her foot steps slowed down and she was stumbling about. The clouds roar grew to the point of causing the small child to jump at each crackle that left them. The clouds even began to sprout spears of light that struck all around her, each being followed by another roar and the girl eventually having to stop, struck by fear itself.
The storm grew powerful, pushing and tossing the girl around so that even were she were on her knees, she found she was getting pushed over to her side. Aerika merely cried to herself, wishing that she had never left the city, but obviously, could no longer return under the current circumstances. The girl simply laid there, in the pathway, until a large bolt of lightning erupted from one of the clouds, striking a tree nearest her. The spot began to glow red with embers and the tree itself began to creak and moan as it slowly began to tilt toward one direction. With one careful examination, Aerika understood that the tree was indeed falling toward her. Frantic, the little girl tried to get back to her feet, but found the ground too wet to get to her feet again. The large tree continued to fall toward her, crying out into the already loud sky, as it fell straight toward the kelvic girl. Without any hope remaining, the tree landed directly onto her, causing severe pain throughout her body.
The tree had crushed her body, pinning her to the ground, keeping her legs from moving. Only one of her hands and half of her chest still remained in view, as she cried out in pain, calling for help knowing no one would respond. Beginning to give up on all hope, the girl curled her arm back to her remaining body, wishing for the pain to just end. "Well it would appear to be that this little fox is trapped with no way out," a voice called out in the middle of the storm, the voice appearing female and quite easily audible even amidst the storm. "I do believe you are correct my sister!" another voice called out, this one appeared male in domain yet was even more jokingly than the last. Aerika looked up to witness two people staring down at her, both had their opposite hands on hips, not a drop of water touched their skin as the rain continued to pour. "I do wonder how this small fox could get out of something as horrible as this," the female's voice spoke once again, clearly the present matter was not as terrifying to them as it was for the little girl, "What do you think Wyn?" The man known as Wyn looked at the identical looking female and spoke back "Perhaps, with a small amount of our help, the fox will learn to spring the trap Kel."
Aerika's face continued to tear up as she started trying to reach out for the apparent siblings, hoping for her life once more, wishing to receive any type of help that she might be given. The sister, Kel as she was called, nearly frowned at the pitiful look on the girl's face, "Perhaps," she started, standing back up to looked back down at the fox next to her brother, "But perhaps she will remain trapped forever." The twins lifted their arms to the sky, light shot from the sky to the ground, clearing the storm to nothing more than a soft breeze, like it had been long ago. The clouds turned from their dark, angry forms to a soft, white, friendly appearance, the girl watched in amazement, completely speechless at the events that were occurring right in front of her. Once the sky was calmed, the two took their attention to the large tree, without moving from where they stood, simply reached out with the palms open. As they stood there for a moment the tree began to shift in its appearance as well. The tree twisted and turned, eventually showing a whole new form all together. The skin of the tree shifted into actual, slithering skin, several new patterns took to its surface and eventually began to expand as though it were breathing. Aerika looked to one side to witness the head of the tree turn into the head of a giant serpent. Fear struck her body once more, but this time, she was able to move and there was no cold, only warmth from the re-inviting sunlight. Aerika stumbled back to her feet to face the large snake, words of the people behind her echoing throughout her mind. Were they correct? Would she remain trapped? Trapped in her own fear? The girl stood in the face of the serpent, her eyes discarding all of the fear she felt, and instead show only bravery. The serpent looked into her eyes, neither of the two blinked, staring only at one another, waiting for one to move. As only a few moments have passed, Kel flicked her arm, pointing to the area where the tree had originally fallen from. The serpent turned away, almost completely ignoring the small kelvic all together, it moved to where the tree were rooted once before and curled up on the ground. Its skin started to change once again into the bark of a tree, slowly slithering up into the sky. Once it has taken its spot fully, its body too completely returned to the tree it once was. The shape of the tree was different however, twisted and dark, looking as though it had grown in a never ending, shifting land.
Aerika stood facing the tree for a moment longer, taking in how it was once a large serpent, ready to devour her, but instead turned away. She turned around to face the twins as they had a smile stretching across the both of their faces. “That is a job well done,” Wyn said to her, kneeling down to look the kelvic face to face. His sister soon followed and said “I knew you would pull through for us.” The two then lifted their hands out together, reaching for the small girl, touching her on her right shoulder, "Take this gift," Wyn spoke to her. "May it aid in your future." The touch was soothing, making her close her eyes from the feeling, and relaxed her body and took away all other feelings. When she opened her eyes, the twins continued to smile, “May you remember this day, the day the gods Kelwyn saved your mortal life and gifted you with our mark.” Aerika looked at her side, noticing a small cloud presented itself on her shoulder, underneath the white cloud were six small snowflakes, each decorative and beautifully different from one another. The flakes danced on her skin, seducing her attention and dancing with grace. As she began to fall in love with their appearance, the flakes appeared as though they had disappeared from her arm. Just underneath, however, she noticed the snowflakes have moved to her side, trying to stay below the cloud that took her shoulder for perch. Feeling a certain amount of amazement, Aerika looked back up to thank the gods for such a gift, but they were nowhere to be seen.
Aerika looked at her side once more to witness the snowflakes move once again to her arm, only a few actually staying on her side. Her body, still wet, but no longer cold, still felt the pain of the large tree that had crushed her body before, but she held no fear for the pain. She turned back around, back toward the path that would take her to her home, and walked with a small limp down the pathway. Aerika's body had luckily not broken anything, yet just some large bruises to mark her white body. Feeling that her life was almost taken, felt the sunlight in a whole new way, the very kiss of its light aroused her, and the dirt between her toes felt like walking amongst the softest of clouds. The young girl had just experienced near death, yet she was strong enough to return even stronger than before. She vowed a silent vow, one only she could hear, 'By the gods Kel and Wyn, I will stay strong, and I will feel no fear!' |
