Basic Information Race: Dhani-Viper Age: 102 Birthdate: Summer 45 409AV Height: 5'2 Weight: 103lbs.
Appearance
Human Form: Kalila is a small woman, only standing 5'2 in height, she is slim but sturdy. She typically keeps her features covered by her loose black robes and her black and white sheer veil. On the rare occasion that she allows people to see her face, they will find haunting golden eyes that are constantly watching their surroundings, and long, black hair that curls loosely down her back. Her skin is the color of honey and her hands are thin and delicate, which are more suited for seduction than inflicting pain. Her movements are lithe and graceful, which is typical of her race, like that of a predator....but she really isn't that at heart.
Dhani Form: Kalila in her Dhani form stands 9'8 feet tall, stand being used losely. She doesn't typically like to use this form since it makes her an immediate target and blows her human cover. However she is more prone to use this form when provoked by others who are not her own kind into a fight, although she typically tries to avoid violence of any sort.
Snake Form: When fully in her snake form, Kalila is roughly 7'5 feet long, relatively small for a Dhani but she makes up for it by being fast and has trained hard to accomplish that. Her scales are the color of cream, with honey colored diamonds adorning her back, typical of a sand viper.
Character History
Kalila was born last into her relatively small family, being the youngest from her group of three siblings and the only girl she was named "Precious One" or Kalila, a name that she greatly treasured since it was her eldest brother Nasim who gave it too her. She was never one for violence though as she grew closer to her coming of age, something that seemed to be a common trait for her race, but would fight mercilessly if her family was threatened, and eventually exceeded her brothers in her ability to move at a quick pace. She seemed to be the odd one in her family, turning her attention more towards herbalism and medicine, which was something that her parents worried about. Who ever heard of a Dhani interested in herbalism or taking an interest in healing? The only one who seemed to support her was Nasim, who encouraged her to do what she felt was right, even if he didn't have any interest in it himself. So she threw herself into her studies, becoming a bit of an oddity in the viper nest at Ahnatep....and a target as well. The others of her race didn't understand her and her gentle nature, to the point of forcing her to leave the clan, hoping to get rid of her ideals. Nasim didn't agree with this, vocally protesting against it but in the end it did no good, and so he voluntarily decided to go with her, shocking both the family and clan alike.
So on the eve of her 98th birthday, Nasim and herself left the clan and traveled through her desert homeland, meeting friend and foe alike and eventually traveled outside of the desert. Her homeland always seemed to call back to her though and after 2 years of traveling she persuaded Nasim to let them return home, anxious to see the rest of her family. Nasim reluctantly agreed and they both made their way back to the nest, letting their instincts guide them. Upon arrival to their home they were met with open hostility, which resulted in the interference of her family on her behalf.....and their brutal murder right before her eyes. Kalila and Nasim were forced to flee or be killed and so they fled, and this led to the parting of their ways. Nasim was bent on vengence while Kalila was left in mourning, not wanting to take part in his murderous ways. Before he left though, he gave her his jade necklace, which is something that she wears at all times unless she is forced to change. Now alone and without a family to go back to, she was left to wander the desert until she came upon a group of traders who let her travel with them all the way to Sunberth where she was left to try and fend for herself and try to scrape a meager living in the shady city. Everyone seemed to need a healer, and she did alright on her own with simple wounds and common colds, but she needed a tutor.....but no one seemed to be willing to teach a Dhani. Perhaps someone will finally try and see past her race and look for the person inside of her, and be willing to take her on as a pupil.
Personality: Kalila is rather timid, preferring to keep to herself over having any sort of interactions with others. She is softspoken, and people tend to think that she is weak when she is far from it. Her outlook is rather jaded on life now, her personality a bit darker than in her youth from her own personal experiences and trials that she has suffered through, and she often wonders what moral path she is supposed to tread, that of her people or what she believes in her heart. She is willing to be friendly to others as long as they are to her and her loyalty to her friends is fierce. She is often a charmer when she does interact with people, preferring to gain people's trust through flattery and finally offering friendship.....as long as they prove themselves worthy of being her friend. She also enjoys pretty things and will collect any odd or end that catches her fancy.
Ethics: Kalila does not believe in engaging in violence unless she absolutely has to and will go out of her way to try and diffuse the situation before things get out of control. She is not opposed to of course causing misfortune to those who deserve it, but will not openly attack anyone unless provoked. She has learned that it was far easier for her to practice diplomacy than to result to the natural ways of her clan, she tended to get better results with kindness. However there have been the few incidents of a knife in the back or poison in a person's cup, which she regrets having to do, if not the actual deed.
