Casper Verselis Physical Description Name: Casper Verselis Preferred Name: Cass Race: Mixed Blood (Human, Dhani) Age: 24 Birthday: 21st Winter Character Concept Appearance: Hanging at a height of 178cm and weighing 72kg, Casper's build is average, though his muscle formation seems to favor brute strength over agility. His white, wavy hair is unkempt, hanging at mid length just above his hazel eyes. The dark skinned man has sharp facial features, with thin lips that curve into a smile at the slightest amusement. He wears studded leather armor, a long Tulwar sword hung at his waist, and a small shield about a foot in diameter on his right. He is dressed warmly, even in the summer, due to his natural sensitivity to the cold. Personality: Constantly conflicted in his thoughts regarding morality and ethics, Casper is a man who always feels the need to prove himself and acts dangerously impulsively when provoked. Even though his temper lights up faster than a match thrown into a volcano, he makes a legitimate attempt to suppress his more bestial urges to slaughter and/or torture his enemies. He is introverted by nature, and acts rather abrasive to the people he meets. However, he does not find comfort in being completely alone either. He is a fast adapter when it comes to the physical aspect of his environment, thinking quickly and resourcefully in a pinch. While he may have the intelligence required for more scholarly pursuits, he has neither the will nor the patience for it. Character History Nine months after miraculously surviving the assault of a Dhani man, a young woman named Cierra successfully gave birth to Casper. She tried to love the child despite his unfortunate origins, but it was hard to ignore how closely the boy resembled his father, and not only in appearance. He grew slowly compared to the other boys his age, and was isolated and bullied for his height and less than friendly attitude. He quickly resolved the problem by simply throwing harder punches and mercilessly beating his enemies when they were down. Cierra taught him all the morals she could think of, and while he listened, they never seemed to truly sink in. It wasn't long before she began to fear him as he grew taller (slowly, but surely), and she took to consciously keeping any sharp object in the house out of Casper's reach. Despite her efforts, every once in a while, Cierra would find a small animal, perhaps a rat or bird, grossly mutilated and hidden under the floorboards of Casper's room. Casper noticed the distance that his mother put between them as time went on. His mother refused to tell him anything about his father. He was painfully aware of the looks of adults and children alike whenever he said something out of line or just plain "evil", as they called it. He hated the people around him, and sometimes had colorful visions of slaughtering the lot of them, even if it would get him arrested before he could even finish the job. What truly kept him from snapping was his mother, and he did try very hard to be anything but himself to please her. She doted on him endlessly and made a conscious effort to love him more than she feared him, which was better than any other kind of attention Casper received. Even so, the occasional slip of the tongue or accidental beating of another kid would increase the distance between the two ever so slightly. While Casper's acts of violence were somewhat overlooked in the past because of his young age, they certainly were not when he was old enough to deal significant damage to a random drunkard in a barfight. He was promptly arrested by Syliran Knights and given a large fine to pay. His mother covered half but to pay the rest, Casper was put to work around the city with construction labor. He realized then that he best keep out of trouble, because he doubted the Syliran Knights would have such mercy the next time the lost control. While he was out working, his mother started frequenting a man, much to Casper's distaste. He didn't like the over friendly man's presence, especially when he started dropping in for dinner more and more often. He did not let the blood rush to his head around his mother, but he knew it would not be long before he snapped, and the last thing he wanted to do was upset Cierra, so he knew he had to figure something out to keep his desires in check. It wasn't long before he resolved that he would continue working construction (since it was the only thing he knew how to do somewhat properly) even after the fine was due. He would make enough money there to pack up and leave, travel to some other city that did not scrutinize his actions as closely. Though Cierra seemed genuinely sad to see her son go as she gave him his heirloom to remember her by, they both knew that she was also a little relieved to have him gone. Casper recently arrived in Sunberth where he would be staying for an indefinite period of time. |
