Built high in the massive branches of Taldera's bloodwood forest, The Spires is a city crafted by the peaceful and scholarly Jamoura. Considered a haven for scholars and sages Mizahar-wide, The Spires is a mecca of philosophy and science that draws people from far and wide with its promise of deeper thinking and higher reasoning.

As a writer, what would you like to see be built in The Spires?
I'm super curious to see how the Meditative Petal gets fleshed out so that's one thing I would love to see some development on. Another thing I've been contemplating is the way knowledge is stored. As a predominantly oral race the Jamoura keep their knowledge in their heads and share it verbally, however since the events of this Spring has undoubtedly caused many deaths it would be prudent for the residents to begin a massive project transcribing their knowledge into the written form. You know... to prevent losing knowledge in the future if another catastrophic event should cause deaths as any knowledge gained by those dead individuals would be lost if they hadn't passed along every single little morsel.

What would your Spires PC like to see built in the city?
Blargh... hate this idea now. Never mind.

Would this PC like to assist in the building?
Definitely! Not that she has any experience but she will probably have the enthusiasm to help rebuild.

Would this PC like to create their own business, if so, what?
No, I can't see Asha being a great business owner. Shop helper maybe, but not an owner. Not yet anyway. Who knows what the future holds.

The signups for May Syna Smile on the East are now full. However, we may need alternates if not everyone is around when the quest actually gets started. So if you still wish, you can sign up for it, then put a secondary quest in case there isn't room.

There are now 2 and half weeks left in the season of Spring before summer hits. Please try to not start too many threads during this period because they will become grandfathered.

Also, I've reduced the work thread requirements from 3 threads, to two. You still should be about halfway done with them to collect seasonal wages from them.

IF you do not do your 2 work threads for this season, you will be expected to deduct Poor Seasonal Wages from your ledger, since only those who make themselves useful get to stay for free in the Base Camp.

Now, I'm not a fan of place holders, so I will ask, if you would like them, at least do 1 starting post, with a proper title. I will rage on anything titled "Placeholder". Keep in mind that all parties wanting in on a placeheld thread need to post in it.

If you have not signed up for one of the 3 Summer quests, please do so before the season changes, if you wish to join. Signups will be closed come summer with very, very few exceptions.

[The Spires OOC] Tree's Company

I recently asked Gillar for some details on the unwritten, Jamouran magic of Reminiscience. I am posting his replies here for public record, with his permission. Keep in mind this information is subject to change and none of it is set in stone at this time. If you'd like to ask a few questions, feel free to post them here, and I will relay them.

1) Is there anyway to unlock Reminiscience, aside from a few centuries of meditation, that is feasible for a PC?

Indeed, there is a way to unlock Reminiscence without the extreme amount of meditation. One may unlock it spontaneously through a sudden realization brought on by a traumatic or otherwise influential event in their lives that mirrors an event that occurred in a past life. It would only be the one past life that you would connect with but it would awaken many of the memories, feelings and personal aspects contained within that past life to be used in the present. (Note that no Jamoura would have a past life as another Jamoura as they are a relatively young race in grand scheme of things. The past life would be from before the Valterrian; before the Jamoura were born as a race).

2) If a PC obtains it, would they get to pick and choose their Past Lives, or would that require Moderation?

Indeed, the PC could choose their Past Lives. Moderation would only be needed if asked for or if a player wishes to have a Past Live of a character already mentioned in Lore AND/OR developed within Lore or elsewhere. Such a Past Life would require a Help Desk request.

3) Is it considered a Personal Magic? And if so, what are the possible side effects of using it?

It will be a Personal Magic and will only be available to long-lived races such as the Akalak, Eth, Konti, Nuit and Isur. Other races may be able to attain it however it would require a Help Desk request. You may be able to have it as a starting package addition however it would require a Help Desk request as well. It can only be learned by Jamoura or from Jamoura. Using it will not bring about access to skills from that Past Life, only memories, knowledge and the ability to learn skills from scratch without a teacher or present/existing source of learning as they already had the skill in that life; they just need to relearn it. Lores may be possible however.

A drawback of Reminiscence is that sometimes the character feels that they are in two places, in two times at once. It can be very disorienting and confusing especially to those who are not very skilled with it. It can also cause some amount of conflict if the Past Life was drastically different from the present. Those without much skill and experience with Reminiscence may find themselves feeling more confusion and struggle with thoughts and feelings that are quite different from what they are used to.

4) Is this information considered Public OOC, meaning can I share it with others?

You can consider this public knowledge however note that it is all open to change and further development as I continue work on it. The basic principles of what I have laid out will remain but the details may change somewhat...or they may not. As I work on something, it develops, grows and changes.

I will be doing this as a full Personal Magic discipline with four ranks. The more skill you have in it, the more control you have over how the lives merge and how many lives you can access. While I don't have a set number of Past Lives that can be accessed, I do know that 1 rank will grant a single Past Life though confusion, disorientation and the like will be prevalent. Rank 2 will all for more control, greater access to memories and less confusion. Rank 3 and 4 are still unfounded but I will get them detailed as I develop the magic overall.

I just want to make it clear though that this is all still open for change and further development so keep that in mind.

Any other questions, I welcome them as it will help me better develop the magic.

Gillar recently posted a very insightful read into the creation and minds of the Jamoura. You can find it in his scrapbook in the following link, and I strongly suggest everyone playing in the city read it.

1 Week Left until Summer is here! So get those Work Threads done, remember, I hate placeholders. Also if you haven't signed up for the Summer Quests, this is the last week to do so.
