Goal She wants to attract Leth’s attention. Subsequently, she needs something she can do for Him. Asking why He let her slip is a little further down on the list. Because her profession is telling stories, she is especially interested in the Celestial language. Even though a little voice says it’s impossible, she tries to recreate it so that she can address Leth properly and thus get Him to answer her. In other words, she searches for the right words in her prayers. Character Diamonds Positive Constant Trait: Spiritual of or belonging to a religion; sacred Albireo’s existence is built on her relationship with Leth. She loves Him and turns to Him in happy, sad and angry moments. Every moment and every happening she relates to Him and how He treats her. She is deeply religious, but the Gods are more than people or concepts for her, they’re a mixture of both: the principle that moves the world – or so she thinks. Negative Constant Trait: Doubting to be undecided or skeptical There is no explanation for the reason of her existence, the fall. Driven by such frustration, she doubts everything and anything. What has happened once is bound to happen again, so she doesn’t swallow explanations easily. She frequently doubts the Gods, other people and even herself. Asking question is a persistent pet peeve. The age-old question is “why” – why did it happen, why her, why at that time, why is He silent. These questions are a large part of her personality. Positive Situational Trait: Tenacious holding or tending to hold persistently to something; stubborn Once she has made up her mind, it’s hard to keep her from pursuing the path she has chosen. She will go to great lengths to fight anything, even herself, if she thinks it’s necessary. Even in the face of an overwhelming enemy she never gives up on what she has decided for herself. If it brings her down, she’ll rise again and again until she has mastered what stands in her way. Negative Situational Trait: Cowardly lacking courage; ignobly timid and faint-hearted Albireo is afraid of many many things. Various experiences in a barbaric world have hit her hard and etched several rules into her subconscious. She’s afraid of everything that has ever hurt her or is directly related to it (eg. Zith fear leads to Symenestra fear as both have claws and fangs). Staring in the face of one of those fears paralyzes her body and mind. She goes into shock and is easily influenced, hypnotized by the predator’s gaze like a rabbit. Ethics, Morality & Values Albireo is a Relativist: “A person that thinks that ethics is entirely relative and subjective– either relative to each person who individually determines what is right or wrong for him or her – or relative to a specific culture.” Her ethics are closely related to the way she perceives her place in the world: isolation. As an Ethaefal, a spirit banned from communion with their God in paradise, she believes that everyone is, first and foremost, alone. People can relate to other people based on similarities in opinion or experience, but being close to another person is impossible in her mindset. Consequently, everyone has their own set of ethics and values that determine a wide range of actions. She doesn’t try to understand others – and it saddens or frustrates her when others try to understand her. She’s also a bit of an Emotivist, but driven by emotions rather than rational decisions. Fear leads to certain decisions she wouldn’t have made otherwise, same with her deep faith in and love for Leth, so she thinks it natural to be guided by emotions. Fear Fear is a significant force in her life. The first thing she felt between heaven and water was fear. As she took step after step in a different Mizahar, it experienced gradual growth. During the two years since then, she’s been running from various sources of danger (Hai, Zith & glassbeaks, Kalean wilderness and Djed storms) without a chance to stop and reflect. As a result the vague fear of the changed world has split up into various concrete ones. If she wants to conquer them, she’ll have to pick them up one by one and put them together to see the bigger picture, not unlike a puzzle. Fear of Change: This is the one looming over all the others, the origin of everything she’s been going through. Albireo doesn’t admit that though, it’s present only in her subconscious. Fear of the Foreign: Because Mizahar has changed into something she has no clue about, everything she doesn’t know is a potential threat. Sometimes this fear makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t. Fear of Dirt: Ever since she lost her Ethaefal virginity in the depths of Hai, she is afraid of staining her body. At the same time she knows all attempts to keep herself clean, wash regularly and care for her body are futile because her purity has already been tainted. Her efforts are only a charade to comfort her and make her forget her past among sluts. Fear of Magic: A result of the Djed storms and its consequences she experienced around Lhavit. Its actual origin is the fact that she witnessed Suvan and Alahea destroying each other with magic, although she only remembers that on a subconscious level. Fear of Wilderness: Having traveled half the continent and several landscapes including desert, grassland and mountains, she got a taste of wild animals and other dangers in each of them. Therefore she avoids wilderness whenever she can and prefers living in cities where hiding and running for shelter is easier. Fear of Savage Races (aka Everything with Claws, Fangs, Fur and Wings): Connected to and result from various other fears. If she sees Zith, Dhani and especially Symenestra she either runs or goes into a state of shocked paralysis. She is unable to trust them or see them as equals. |
