[Pash'nar's Scrapbook] I Make Things Look Pretty

Apologies for the continued extended absence and lack of posting. We moved, we finally got internet, but we aren't entirely settled. We didn't realize our landlord would be an absentee one and have been busy doing work she should be doing. Renting a fixer-upper was not on my to-do list in my second trimester with a full time job, so things have been frustrating. I've also had 2 very big print projects that have taken up a lot of my evening time not spent over a meal or with the toddler.

All that to say, things are slowly clearing themselves out of my schedule and I can and will be back to posting shortly.

Ugh.

Oh hai.

Um.

Er.

Whatsup?

I feel like I should have a lot to say here. Let's see ... In this moment of pregnancy insomnia despite the yucky cold all three of us in my house are fighting, I will try to catch up. Since everyone else has the advantage of some form of cold medicine but me, at leastt I am coherent. Heehee.

New city, new house, new job are all good. Took a while to iron crap out with our rental house, but that is finally behind us and our landlady could actually be cool if she didn't work 90 hours a week not being a landlady. We have managed to get into the DIY spirit of things and pretend we own instead of rent. It makes things go smoother when stuff needs fixing. Or at least keeps us in a more cheerful disposition ...

Currently, my job is ridiculously busy until mid-December, so I haven't had a spare moment to do anything non-work related at work since August. I am responsible for designing and building three major websites by December while being constantly bombarded with swarms of sporadic email templates. Fun times but I can't complain about the paycheck.

Speaking of December, there are less than 10 weeks left before our second baby arrives. I'm kinda feelin' that whole third trimester now.

Whoot.

That's the easy stuff. There has been some hard stuff that has really drained my insporation and kept me from visiting. I miss yous guys.

Our 1800lb letterpress did not survive the move. Well, okay, it made it all the way to our garage only to smash to pieces on the concrete when a chain unepectedly broke lowering it off the flatbed truck. No one was hurt but it was indescribably heartbreaking. We are in the process of recovering what we can but without a letterpress-savvy welding company around, our press is now a parts machine for others. So, that was a big blow for us.

There has been a surprisingly awesome amount of support from the letterpress community and just this week we have found a second press to start over with.

I suppose that's all more good news than bad, but it's all been just enough to drag me away from anything resembling the recreation of Miz.

I hope you all are doing well. Say hi here, okay? I do miss you folks and I miss writing. Perhaps come babymoon time when I am up at all those crazy newborn hours, you'll see more of my Pashface around and I can ease back into posting again in the Winter once my work deadlines are met and my brain is not weighed down by WordPress custom queries, CSS, and email templates.

So. Hey! I'm not gone, just buried a bit under unexpected things. I can see some of the clouds lifting, though, and that makes me happy amd hopeful to return and spend some time here.

Alistair Finley Smith was born happily at home on December 31st, 2012 at 9:24pm. Tax break baby. Huzzah. He weighed 8lb 10oz and was 21.5 inches long. He's an awesome babe and his big brother Elisha loves him very much.

I figured there were at least a handful of you wondering. :D
