I’ve seen many other PC plotnotes use this sort of character diamond/trait map thing and it seems like an excellent exercise for getting into a character’s head so I’m going to do one too. I hope this helps me to flesh out Asha’s character and behavior patterns a little more and perhaps give other authors who have threaded with Asha some insight into her behavior or inkling into what direction I’m trying to take her. Constant Traits (+) Inquisitive – Asha is always investigating. If she sees someone who looks interesting or is doing something strange then she will ask about it. She has no problem immediately walking up to someone and questioning their existence or actions. Asha’s inquisitiveness stems from her intense desire to learn and gather knowledge. She’s constantly asking questions and cares more about learning then maintaining social decorum. Her family and culture in general encourage a life dedicated to learning so Asha doesn’t feel any discomfort with investigating something of interest. She can be quite relentless in her pursuit and those not familiar with her ways may become uncomfortable or suspicious but she is usually too distracted to even notice another’s discomfort. Her inquisitiveness is essentially what drives her; there is always something new to discover. The acquisition of knowledge is essential to Asha and she is constantly pursuing it. (-) Open – Asha can be very loose lipped and sometimes shares more then she ought with others. Her openness is related to her inquisitiveness. She wants to learn at all costs and doesn’t mind trading information. She also believes in sharing knowledge in general and is glad to encourage others to learn. Being so open about herself and what she knows can get her into trouble. It can expose her individual weaknesses and can put her in a disadvantaged position if someone tries to extract information for nefarious purposes. Asha’s openness can also be attributed to her innocence towards non-Jamoura sentient life. She is used to living in a culture that encourages learning and the sharing of knowledge so it is difficult for her to understand those who are tight-lipped and horde information.[/b] Situational Traits (+)Gentle – Asha wouldn’t hurt a termite. Well she would, but only to eat it. Violence is something that Asha absolutely abhors, and she would only engage in it if her family or her person were in mortal danger. Violence does not come naturally, and her first instinct in a tense situation is to reason with the opponent. If her opponent is incapable of reasoning (in the case of a predatory animal) she will try to use her size to scare them away. She is so uncomfortable with violence she hardly even understands her own strength or potential to damage. Asha’s gentleness is extended to all those around her, even the races or creatures that make her a little uncomfortable. (-) Under Development – Reworking, this doesn't fit her character like I thought it did. |
