Race: Symenestra Age: 21 Birthday: Spring 9th, 491 AV Physical Description In certain lighting, the pale Navisya could be described as ghostlike. Her tall, willowy frame measures about 5 feet and 7 inches, long-limbed and delicately put together. The gold in her eyes is vibrant and curious, resembling the translucent hue of crystallized honey. Pouring around her V-shaped face, Navisya's wispy hair rolls in stubborn waves. It is not actually white, but an exceedingly light gray, the color of old cobwebs. Unless braided and tied for hunting, she usually leaves it to hang free over her narrow shoulders. Character Concept Stronger than she looks, but perhaps more fragile than she realizes. The hunter carries with her a feigned air of indifference to mask her good will and common sense. She typically will not involve herself in conflicts that don't personally pertain to her, but is not above lending a hand if someone is in need. Although she is, in truth, quite virtuous and kind, she is also pragmatic and won't apply effort when she is wise enough to know that it could be for naught. Applying hunting strategy in many aspects of her life, she shies away from undue risk and poor odds. Within her family, Navisya Curare might be considered the most level-headed, but certainly not the most experienced. She is even a bit sheltered, having spent the majority of her life tucked away in Kalinor and preoccupied with family drama (the worst of her problems involve love affairs and clashing philosophies). Outside her home, the world secretly terrifies her--she is educated enough to know that it can be perilous and unpredictable, and so are the azo who live beyond the cavern. Yet, it may be less the violence and more the unknown which makes her hesitant to leave to confines of the Kalea mountain ranges. Character History During her childhood, Navisya often found herself becoming the mediator between her two sisters. Kelswyn, significantly older, headstrong, and often callous, was a complete opposite to the younger Aessila, frivolous, self-centered, and frequently defeatist. Her parents, Tevander and Lissith, had their own frequent battles. As the children grew older, they began to spend more time apart from each other, both claiming that it was only natural to desire privacy and personal space. For the most part, the Curare Web was functional and happy. Each of the children were supported and cared for by their parents, even when Aessila became outspoken toward the Esterian movement (just a phase she's going through, everyone said). While Aessila and Kelswyn were close to their mother, Navisya was her father's favored daughter. When she was only an adolescent, he began taking her to the surface to show her hunting and mountain survival. It was a quiet sort of friendship, deeply valued by the both of them. Navisya never heard the end of her sister's fighting, and Tevander kept few friends especially after drifting away from his wife. Both of them were in need of stable, easy companionship. Neither one of them were fond of talking about themselves, so this worked out very well. Tevander had a habit toward brevity of speech, and Navisya now seems to understand him more clearly than anyone else in the family. Kelswyn became married at the age of 19 to Reverin Safou, a quiet, but intelligent man remarkably similar to Tevander. When Navisya was 14, the 21-year-old Kelswyn left for her first Harvest in Syliras. She used a two-week-old puppy as a calming instrument to lure her human surrogate back to the Nest, and later gifted the dog to Navisya as a hunting companion. Unfortunately, the surrogate's pregnancy ended in stillbirth, devastating the parents. It would be another three and a half years before Kelswyn had the heart to perform a second Harvest, producing a young Lhavitian astronomer. The pregnancy went smoothly this time around, producing a lively, scarlet-eyed boy named Dacydes. More recently, Lissith Curare passed away after a succumbing to a virulent disease that left her bed ridden for the last months of her life. The family is seemingly holding up in light of the tragedy, but if one took a closer look at any of the Curares, the scars and anger caused by loss are deeply rooted and more powerful than most people would guess. |
