Spring Day 53, 512

John had his den of course, but lately it was just starting to get crowded with all the shiny things he took to collecting. Following this train of thought, he had to think of a way to securely store human sized items, and have it disguised. Deciding to browse for something, John climbed out of his recently purchased fur cap, and dragged his shirt and then his pants out of the den. A quick flash of light, and then he stood there in human form, pulling his pants on and slipping into his shirt. He then reached down into the den and pulled out his fur hat, which he then filled with the shiny things merchants like, the gold mizas. He wasn't sure how much they were going to want, so he took out a lot.

Carefully he went to the business area, and found something that caught his eye in a stall on the opposite end of the block he started walking down. It was a hunting store, and he was about to skip it until he saw the forest tree blind.

"Perfect!"

He exchanged over a rather large amount of the shiny things, almost in pain, to the man running the store until they gave him the blind. Apparently it had to be constructed at the place, and took only an hour. With any luck, no one would notice what he was doing until it was well camouflaged. Thinking of that made him trade over a handful of coins to buy a camouflage tarp, which he could put on top so no one could see what was inside either.

Talking with glee, he then decided to take the tree stand and the camouflage tarp to his den. Once there, he put the hat with the coins back safely in his den, and began to set up the tree blind in a tree that off the park paths, but still close to his den. It took longer then an hour to set up, because John had no experience in building things. However, once it was properly set up (He had set it up several times improperly before then), he put the camouflage tarp to cover the bottom of it, and it looked like it was just a large expansion of brush and greenery on the tree. Following these happy thoughts, he decided to begin purchasing the actual items he had originally wanted.

Instead of returning to the first place he had searched, he went to a specific store on the opposite side. This store catered to street artists and the phony magicians, where John could get more interesting supplies for his juggling act. He had his hat of coins again, and set about buying a shiny set of dice, which of course enchanted John. He also decided in buying a hemp rope, which he had a purpose for some of it, and was sure he would find another purpose for the rest. Following that, he found a speaking horn, which said it would make him sound louder. He wasn't sure if he could use it or not, but he thought of some funny uses for it. The man there then talked John into buying a fine lock-box, designed to protect his new purchases. Nodding in agreement, he then bought that. After taking those, he found the thing he really wanted. It was a trampoline, which would be most excellent for John to practice his acrobatic stunts. Checking it over and finding it most acceptable, John handed the 80 gold coins, essentially emptying his hat.

Once he returned to the tree, he stripped quickly and changed into ferret again. Then he bit down on the end of the hemp rope, and climbed up the tree into the blind, bringing the rope with him. Once at the top, he flashed back and tied the rope to a secure hook inside the blind, making a rope he could climb up and down as a human. He took the trampoline back to his new forest blind, where he put the trampoline kit in, under the camouflage tarp. Next to it he put his fine lock-box, where he put in the silver dice and the speaking horn before closing it and locking it. He would carry the key into his den, keeping it safe. After a few moments thought, he took the trampoline kit back out and set it up right there in the park. In a state of almost giddiness, he took the time to make sure he did it right, and then happily jumped onto it, bouncing higher and higher.

Loving the feel as he bounced up and down, moving around and learning how the trampoline reacted, John then moved to the center, bouncing up and down, going higher again. Once up there, John flipped forward and bounced in a hand stand position, before continuing the flip over and bouncing again. Finding that easy, John went and practiced different things, from side bounces, to full flips, which he didn't do so well in, to more hand stands. After doing the basic things, he made up his own tricks, bending and bouncing in more interesting ways, not always making it work well. More then once he landed wrong and hurt a muscle or few, but continued on in sheer joy. After doing this for quite awhile, he decided he ought to sleep again, and rest his now slightly sprained muscles. Fortunately, the trampoline, once built, was easy to fold into a compact box shape, which he then took up into the forest tree blind, under the safety of the camouflage tarp.

Figuring that he would climb to the blind in ferret form and change there into human when he decided to go out and about again, he took the clothes off and just left them there in the blind. After making sure the rope was pulled up inside the blind, he flashed into ferret form, and crawled down the tree, into his den a little ways off, and into his fur hat, after he moved the few remaining coins out, and promptly fell asleep, with happy dreams.

A small shopping spree (Solo)

Just before sunrise, Dex awoke. With a quick ferret stretch, and a yawn, he sat up and crawled out of the den into the outside. It wasn't dark, but it wasn't bright either. Thinking about the sunrise, he decided to go watch it from his newest hangout. He turned around and scampered quickly across the grass, up the crevices in the tree bark, and through the small hole he left open to enter the tree blind, under the camouflage tarp. Thinking that he really ought to get the tarp up off the ground some, he crawled through, around the compacted trampoline and over the lock box, up to a small opening in the tree blind, giving him a new view of the sunrise. It slowly climbed higher and higher, just lighting over the tops of the trees and the buildings. After seeing the first light, Dex raced down the tree and went hunting. It never hurt to work on his skills, and besides, mice were tasty. After a somewhat successful hunt, resulting in catching and eating one small mouse in an alley, he returned to the forest blind.

Having completed his morning ritual, he crawled off the opening and flashed into human form. He slipped the shirt on over his head and the pants on before grabbing the compacted trampoline, and carefully letting it drop to the ground. It really was a sturdy thing, not likely to break. Then he jumped down carefully, landing next to it, stumbling a little. Standing up and dusting himself off, he then went and reset the trampoline up such as he had last night. Then, another idea struck him, so he went to his den and reached in for his heirloom juggling balls from his father.

Having worked on his juggling with just plain standing, he wondered how well he would do juggling on a trampoline. Turns out, not well. After just a few minutes, he soon realized that he was no where near up to par to be able to accomplish both at the same time. Best to hone both talents, and then maybe bring them together. He did take the time however, for a small exercise with the juggling balls, starting off with just three. Starting them off in a basic juggling pattern, he would juggle them in a medium size arch, generally the easiest. After comfortably juggling them as such, he would make the arch rise higher and higher, getting to a fair height above his hands. Then he would lower the arch, past where he had started. This required faster movement, and also more control. After that, he would raise it to a medium arch, stop, and then redo the whole sequence with an added ball. Generally he could only get to 5 total, trying to get them all moving at once when he had the arch at it's smallest. One time he succeeded in that, and practiced with 6, but never more then that.

The whole exercise did take some time, trying to go as far as he could repeatedly, but eventually stopping when he failed more then 3 times on the same round. It built up his juggling skills in general, while also letting him think on things. Mostly he thought about his juggling, but every so often his mind would wander to other things.

He woke to someone tapping his shoulder. Having drifted off, all the juggling balls were now on the ground in a small pile at his feet. He shook off the fog on his mind and looked at who woke him.

"Hello?" she whispered quietly. She looked over the man, who was sleeping soundly. She was somewhat unsure of whether or not she should have tapped him, or, what he would do after she did. She blinked, and watched him look up at her. She grinned, at the boy-man-boy... she did not know whether or not to think of him as a man, or as a boy, or... or what. She was very close to his face, as when she was curious, she usually did get close to the things that were intriguing her. His eyes looked sort of blue, sort of green, sort of... ah, she couldn't really tell. She was flashing her sharp teeth at him, she knew that well, and so she quickly closed her mouth, and instead smiled with it closed.

"Hello," she repeated herself, although more happily than spoken before. She found that this boy--... male, she'll just say, looked friendly. Not mean. "I'm Dallisetria," she held a hand to his, and without anything, took his and shook it, then let it drop like a rock. She backed up a little bit, then sat on the ground, looking at him, head slightly tilted to the side. "What's your name? What are you doing here? Why do you have juggling balls?" she said, now pointing to them. She was often very childish.

John shook his head lightly. He had apparently started day dreaming, standing up. He found a girl who looked not much younger then he was in front of him, standing close to him. His eyes flashed around quickly, gathering his surroundings and remembering where he was. Then he looked back at the girl, who had closed her mouth into a smile, and then told him her name was Dallisetria

"Hi. You can call me whatever you like. And I'm just practicing juggling out here. What about you? What are you doing here?"

While not happy that he had fallen into a day dream, he was happy that he was meeting someone new.

She shrugged her shoulders, not really knowing what she was doing there. "Eh, I guess I was just bored," she sighed. "Or I was on a walk, or.." she trailed off. She shrugged, again, unsure of what to say. "I don't really know. And if I did, I sure don't remember now that I've met you. I seem to have a one-track mind, and I can't keep track of things very well." she paused. "Oftentimes, I forget." she yawned, and then laid back, her legs in a lotus position. She stretched her arms back, and when she spoke again, it all seemed strained.

"Why would you practice juggling? It seems like such a waste of time," her voice sounded amused, and she went on carefully. "I mean, you might find some fun in it. But in my opinion, it certainly does not seem essential to anything whatsoever." She managed to sit back up, and she then stood, her legs spread apart, and touched the ground. It was quite clear, the Kelvic was stretching. She looked at him. He seemed fairly human, but then again, so did she.

"What are you? Human? Kelvic?" she didn't know of too many races, which led her to only know those two options of what he could be.

Dex smirked slightly. This was a story he never got tired of.

"I'm a kelvic. My mother was a kelvic dog, and loved to chase balls. So I would toss the balls around, and I eventually learned how to juggle a little. It would drive her crazy, watching the balls just go around and around. So of course I kept on practicing it and learning it, even when I left."

He watched as she did stretched on the ground some, in different patterns. Realizing it for what it was, he thought about it. Some people he knew stretched before they did something to loosen up the muscles. Dex really had no patience for it, so he just did his acrobatics or whatever he was practicing as his way to loosen up. He bounced backwards on the balls of his feet, raised his arms up, and did a cartwheel to his left, managing to land on his feet and stand up without falling like he sometimes did.

"So what are you stretching for?"

"I'm a Kelvic, too," she though aloud. The second Kelvic she ever met was a juggler. Not exactly something she'd brag about, but at least the backround story for the reason he did it was somewhat interesting. "Dogs," she muttered under her breath as he had explained what his mother had been. Her head raised as he did a... what would she call that? She didn't know. She had watched intently as he did the circular.. thing... and she breathed out. It was almost in awe.

When he asked why she was doing warm-ups-- or, stretches, she pressed her lips together, and then pressed air out, which made a funny noise. Then she stopped, and laughed. "I run, I climb. I hunt mice," she waited to see his facial reaction. "And I just do different things that are considered athletic. I dunno. I don't really see why not stretch, it does help, doesn't it?" it was a rhetorical question, and she hoped that this boy knew it. She looked him over. Now that he was up, she could see his eyes better. They were dark, black beady things. Not at all, really, like human eyes. They were just as obvious as her golden ones, that were large, no whites(some), big pupils. She forced a laugh.

He was taller than her, by what seemed to be about half a foot, more or less. She eventually asked another question, which was: "What kind of Kelvic are you?"

Dex was almost estatic.

"I love climbing. And mouse hunting. I'm a ferret."

He wondered what type of kelvic she was. He noticed the abnormal golden eyes, but couldn't think of an animal to place them to.

"Your not an owl are you?"

He remembered back to his feral days, when he'd had some serious trouble with birds. Well, it was more like they'd had serious trouble with him. Quickly, he diverted his mind from those memories. They were painful, and he didn't like them. Maybe some day he would be able to think about them without panicking.

She thought about his question. You're not an owl, are you? that only raised questions in her head. He must have had a bad deal going on with them or something. She simply shook her head, although either way, her being an owl- or the animal she was(an ocelot) she figured she would still find ferrets tasty. Although she does not like a lot of fur.

"Nah, I'm not an owl." he might find the truth worse, though... "I'm an ocelot." she breathed, and adverted her eyes away. "I won't eat you though, I promise." she held out her hand, as in to shake on it. Which, was all in all, her intention of the gesture.

Dex scratched his head, feeling confused. Apparently she wasn't an owl .... but something called an ocelot.

"What is an ocelot?"

Apparently though, it was something that might eat him. Noting to stay away from large unknown animals who might accidentally eat him, he waited for her reply. He tried imagining what an ocelot looked like, trying to figure out if it had feathers or fur, claws or paws, but he had no idea.
