NAME • • • Thomas O. Montgomery ALIAS • • • Tom AGE • • • 21 BIRTHDATE • • • 50th of Spring, 491 AV GENDER • • • Male APPEARANCE His features appear sculpted, with prominent muscles and a lean, strong body that worked numerous strange, tasking jobs in order to make ends meet. His creamy tan skin brings out the golden hue in his expressive eyes, and his pink lips are often curled into a seductive smirk. He keeps his wavy dark locks short and well-combed, and he walks, dresses, and carries himself with an unwavering charm. There is something about the mischievous glint in his eyes that tells you that he has something to hide, but it’s definitely something that he will willingly reveal if you can pay the price, or, if you can handle it. His chiselled jaw is occasionally covered in stubble, while other times he keeps himself clean-shaven. It will all depend on his mood. He is rarely seen without his spectral companion, Geoffrey, and his trusty flamberge. PERSONALITY He’s a man of mystery and mischief, and often he seems to be keeping rather vital and interesting information whenever he speaks or smiles. He’s rough and unfriendly to most people, but when he is in an incredibly happy, or incredibly sad mood, he tends to soften up and open up to others. He remains cordial to his friends, their friends, the elderly, and the youth. As charming as he is, he is not an entirely skilled conversationalist, due to his lack of knowledge and education. He loves to joke and tease, and keep things light and vibrant, as he was unable to have such a life when he was a child and still living with his parents. He has no faith, no religion, and hardly a drive to inspire him to do things properly and well. It takes a lot to strike fear or anger into him, but when it occurs that he becomes frightened or angry, it is an amusing and terrifying sight, respectively. He doesn’t believe in love and family, and so he often acts reckless when it comes to drinking, and attracting women. He values friendship and camaraderie, however, and treats his friends as if they were his siblings. HISTORY He was nothing more than an appealing man with an unappealing story. His mother was merely a simple barmaid at the local tavern, and his father was just another drunkard. It sounded usual, it sounded commonplace, because they lived in the lawless town of Sunberth, of course. The woman was naïve and unassuming, preferring to be kind to all the customers and trust them wholeheartedly. She had not, without a doubt, been born and raised in Sunberth. She came because she thought she could gain her fortune there, she thought she could succeed. Sunberth had its good points, did it not? And he on the other hand, was a frequent customer at the tavern, who paid for his orders, stayed out of trouble, and milked his charm whenever he could. A compulsive liar and an effective seducer, she fell to his advances before he could even attempt to ask her if they could be more than just friends. The irresponsible commit mistakes; he’d inevitably taken advantage of her infatuation for him. And she was a hopeful young girl, with dreams that seemed to never die nor wilt. She stayed, she gave birth to their child, Thomas, and she attempted to live prosperously with the man. But he was a lousy drunkard who refused to share his earnings or even be a father to their son. He refused to stay with them for long periods of time, and continued to sleep around and drink to his heart’s content, eventually even abusing the love of his wife by physically hurting her. Thomas watched it all unfold, and as he was a child, he deemed his father’s actions to be appropriate. No one else was there to guide him or tell him otherwise. Instead, he spent his time with his one and only friend, Saif, who thankfully had a less dysfunctional family than he did. Without his best friend, he might’ve ended up going insane. The two were inseparable, always playing about and wreaking havoc wherever they went. They studied together, trained together, and looked out for one another. He’d inherited his mother’s unwavering habit of establishing hopes and dreams, and he and Saif had both promised one another that they would one day begin a business together, a successful one, with legal-obtained goods and profits. They swore on it. Unfortunately, Saif’s family decided to move out of Sunberth and live in Zeltiva instead, when the pair were still young. They had promised to keep in touch with one another through letters, but they had eventually stopped doing so. Thomas had never once forgotten his promise to his dearest friend, and even when they were apart and not interacting with one another, he still valued the things he’d learned from him. If it wasn’t for him, his difficult upbringing might’ve turned him into a monster, just like his father. Despite Saif’s presence in his life, Tom was still heavily influenced by his father’s careless sleeping around, and a little bit of his drinking. Then years later, he had become a blurry reflection of his father. He frequented bars and brothels, and lived a life that lacked morality and propriety, doing unstable odd jobs in order to pay for his distasteful lifestyle. Eventually, however, the dreamer inside of him demanded that he fix himself up and meet Saif at Zeltiva. And so, he did. He packed all of his things and set off for the port city. He initially was unable to find Saif, and at first, assumed that he had fled for another city, or worse – had gone back to Sunberth to see him. Downtrodden and upset, he sat by and thought about his next course of action. It was then when he’d come across a ghost named Geoffrey, who was also looking for somebody in particular, a girl. Neither of them knew who the other was talking about, and after trading stories, the pair decided to stick together. Geoffrey ended up becoming Thomas’s conscience and voice of reason, and was the first one to begin calling him Tom, due to the fact that he preferred it over his real first name, claiming that it was far too long for him. He’d eventually decided to send a note to Saif telling him to meet at a tavern in the city, but when he’d arrived, he did not find him there. Instead, he found himself face to face with a peculiar, yet remarkably attractive woman, with features that he had never seen before. The pair hit it off, consumed far too much alcohol, and eventually did the unthinkable. For the first time in his life, he found himself attracted to a woman not only physically, but romantically. He’d fallen in love with her. The next morning, he immediately set off to search for her along with Geoffrey, only to find her with Saif. She was his girlfriend. He valued the unbreakable friendship that he had with Saif, and so instead decided to keep his attraction to the woman, his woman, Caoi, a secret. The pair reacquainted themselves with one another and together, along with Caoi, they sought to begin the business that they had initially dreamed of starting. SKILLS
