Threnody for the Victims of the Valterrian :
Physical Information • Eypharian • 36th Spring, 479 A.V. (31) • Male Physical Description Ifran stands at 6'2", with short black hair and blue eyes. His skin is the color of aged ivory limned in pale gold. With six graceful arms, he is leanly built like a dancer; a sword-dancer. Broad-shouldered, wide-chested, and slender of waist. Elegant and sophisticated. With a Northwinds' eye for aesthetics, he dresses appropriately for whatever the occasion, but generally in deceptively simple clothes that are striking, but not overwhelming. Character Concept The Northwinds are a House of artists, academics, and captains of industry, but there are only a few who seek to be dealt a hand in the game of politics. Ifran is one such scion of the North Wind with plans for the future. Empowered by the idea that his grandfather almost single-handedly put the Pressorah Bashti on the throne, he has high hopes for himself that he might follow in Sadiki's august footsteps. He has the charm and wit to be a dangerous politico, and is an old hand at manipulation. Whether or not he could actually be called a sociopath, his goals for Ahnatep are benevolent, but great lights cast great shadows and he embraces those as well. Character History Ifran was born to Direnç, son of Sadiki, and Auset re Bisret of the Eastwinds, making him the oldest grandchild of the leader of the Northwinds. As the first of a new generation given light, he was fêted by the entire family, and even Pressor Teremun granted him the honor of being his godfather. His lusty yells were tolerated with a sense of humor, and jokes about lung capacity saw him in early training in the Eyktol Opera performance style. At five years old, he was taken on as an apprentice by the famed performer, Taharqa, and for seven years he lived apart from his family to train. For those seven years, he rose at dawn to practicing singing, sword-dancing, and gestures. Tutors sent by his parents gave him an extensive and liberal education. At twelve, he returned to the palace of his grandfather, took rigorous lessons with his tutors, and spent most evenings as an apprentice at the Royet Theatre, until his treble began to lower into a lyric tenor and he became a member of the company. The early separation from his family, though not complete, allowed him to grow through some formative years with a unique perspective among his kin -- from the outside. When he returned to the fold, he was able to ask about decisions made by Sadiki and learn the internal motivations, or at least the alleged motivations, what his grandfather wanted him to believe. The elder statesman was not unaware of his grandson's keen interest in his affairs, and indulged him to some extent, though Ifran seemed content with his role as an educated artist with a fascination with, if not an urge toward, politics. It was his childhood friend, Aru, who helped him learn to think logically. The boy became a member of the Ano Cult not long after Ifran moved into the home of Taharqa for a different sort of discipline. In spare moments in their various training, they would mull over logic exercises that Aru was assigned, and applied them to their young lives. This continued into adulthood, when they debated the logic of random things like the likelihood Sadiki would arrange a marriage between Ifran and the Pressorah or her sister, or whether the powers that be among the Cult allowed this friendship to continue because they saw something in Ifran or hoped to use the friendship for their own purposes in the future. They both learned to imagine plots within plots. As life continued, Ifran became more adept at his trade and more famous for his performances, but still he and his friend plotted. Whether they were mere mental exercises or real plans for the future couched in game theory and practice was anyone's guess. Most lauded Ifran as another in a long line of artists from the House of the North Wind. A few suspected that he harbored hidden depths. Nobody knew if his ambitions were as epic as the men he portrayed on the stage. Time would tell. Training Skills

Equipment/Possessions * Per Colombina: "Ifran has been granted permission to be a member of the noble house of the North Winds. As such he has access to but not private ownership of house resources such as communal servants, litters, chariots and the home of the Whatever Winds. His starting package clothing may be a little more ornate than standard Eypharians'. Reasonable starting jewelry is allowed. As long as he is in Ahnatep his living expenses are covered. Any personalized possessions must come from his pocket." * Skyglass Scarab Pendant from Zintila Skyglass Scarab Pendant :
