Considered one of the most mysterious cities in Mizahar, Alvadas is called The City of Illusions. It is the home of Ionu and the notorious Inverted. This city sits on one of the main crossroads through The Region of Kalea.

A small smile lit the woman's lips at this man's words. Serenity adjusted her spectacles and looked Indryio up and down, taking in his scraggly beared and confident smile. Tapping her finger once on the papers before her, she spoke with a voice that showed only slight amusement, "I see the light of day often enough, though I do wonder if what I see is truly the sun or some other creation dreamt up by the city."

She would shrug and stand, turning to open one of the many filing cabinets behind her desk, speaking over her shoulder as she began flipping through folders, "If it is work you are looking for you have come to the right place." The woman's eyes would turn to meet Indyrio's, "Have you any skills, and what did you have anything in mind already?"

A Place of Employment (Indyrio)

A slightly overzealous smile indulged the lean sides of Indyrio's face, strangely comforted to hear that the woman was not chained to the desk as he half suspected. Far too often in his travels he had seen the toll one’s service took when it provided inestimable value to the community. And many of them had been good, virtuous people filling some misguided sense of duty. When her tongue began hatching riddles, however, his smile slowly waned. Since when was the sun, not the sun? Glancing pensively out a dust splotched window to his right, Indyrio sighed with just a touch of fascination and fear minced together.

“I’m afraid I’ve never been apprenticed in anything,” he began with just the hint of sorrow buried beneath a mask of indifference, gaze still turned towards the window for another lingering moment before spinning back to catch the gentled craze in Serenity’s eyes. It was a lie he‘d need to practice, but the skills he offered seemed hardly worthy of repute. “I do enjoy working with people, and I’m quite dedicated to the task set before me. I know perhaps a few tricks of legerdemain that could grasp the attention of a few small children, but other than that,” an embarrassed laugh building in his chest. “I’m quite inept!”

Having only learned the very basics of artifice as a professional venture, Indyrio had yet to be given the chance to put any of it to practice. Standing where he was now hardly seemed the proper forum to address such potential, but earning an honest living came before plowing daggers into men’s backs.

A Place of Employment (Indyrio)

Serenity would pause a moment in her shuffling of papers, turning an eye to look Indyrio up and down. She appeared in deep thought, contemplating any possible positions that he may be useful in, but when none suddenly came to mind she sighed and turned to look Indyrio in the eyes.

"Have you any experience in hard labor, or do you prefer to work within a building of sorts?" A finger would tap her cheek for a moment as she returned to the filing cabinet, taking out several folders and returning to her desk, "There are several position opportunities that do not require previous experience. Simply give me a few or your personal preferences and we can go from there."

The folders she would plop down on the desk and fold her hands over, looking up at Indyrio for his response.

A Place of Employment (Indyrio)

His fingers absentmindedly brushed along a small varnished space between stacks of parchment on the desk, eyeing the papers she had accumulated with a blank stare that made no attempt to read them. Instead he was wrapped in quiet thought, tips of pearly white teeth gnawing away flakes of dead skin from his lower lip. He got the sense that if he didn’t show an interest in something soon, this polite exchange would become less than cordial. Prying his softly lit eyes back up into the grip of her stare, a small nest of crows feet darkened when he smiled.

“I’ve been told there is a high stakes gambling house in this city, where the bets can be as steep as one’s life. Are such rumors true? Do they have any positions available? I can deal cards well enough, serve drinks if they require it. Hells, I can even put on a show to ease their moods.”

Finding himself postured slightly over the table by the time he had finished speaking, Indyrio apologetically took a step back and folded white linen covered arms across his chest. A place like Ionu’s Wager would be the perfect breeding ground for idle gossip and dark secrets, surrounded by men whose craft was alike to his. All he had to do was restrain himself from appearing too desperate.

Serenity smiled and moved all but one folder to the side, the one that remained was a dark red with they symbol of Ionu etched on the front, "Ah, you must mean Ionu's Wager."

The woman would gently open the folder and leaf through a few pages before pulling out the one she sought. After scanning a few lines she would continue, "Yes, that establishment is run by one Thorren Belvare. An interesting man, and very good with his words too." Her eyes looked over a few more lines before looking back up at Indyrio, "I believe he is in search of someone to clean the tables and do the dishes in his establishment at the moment. I am certain he will offer a chance for advancement though." Setting the paper down her nails clacked against the table, "Does this sound like something you would be interested in?"

OOCShe is offering a position with a chance for advancement. That means Indyrio will have to work his way up and gain Thorren's trust before he is allowed to do any form of gambling there. This offers a lot of room for character development as well as the chance to gain some interesting skills.

What interest he had spared himself from showing before to the documents in Serenity’s possession now glimmered with a distinct regard in the violet saucers of his eyes. The dark red cover of the last remaining folder embraced a symbol that had already been etched into the threads of Indyrio’s dreams, his heart skipping a rhythmic beat as he leaned in attentively. Following each page she touched with the curiosity of a small child, he folded his slender hands behind him and peered down his slender nose.

Listening in stark silence brought with it a gentle reminder that he had been standing in one place longer than stiffness could bear, his legs exchanging the weight of his body while trying not to appear too obvious. Unfortunately for all his discretion, the seasoned floorboards groaned against his cringing toes. Dolefully rolling his eyes, he quickly recovered with a tooth filled grin and unwound his hands from behind him.

Cleaning boy didn’t sound ideal, but neither did jobless scoundrel of the street. And that was as much as one could hope for in a city that did not cater to the sort of lawlessness Indyrio’s training had provided. At least there was the opportunity for advancement, and always the potential to be a nameless fly on the wall. All that remained was a meeting with a doubtlessly unscrupulous manager, who by Serenity’s reckoning, was a master weaver of words.

Dipping his chin in brief consent, the same slender smile he had exhibited before flickered through. “Sounds perfect,” he spoke with eyes beginning to wander back to the many catalogued books, snapping back not long after as he quickly recalled another basic need. “Oh, and if you could give me the name of an inn with a vacant room, I’d be much appreciative.”

A smile touched her lips as she looked back down at the sheet of paper, ["Excellent. I am certain you shall fit in very well at the Wager."

From her drawer the woman produced another piece of paper and a quill and ink well. Dabbing the quill a few times in the ink Serenity began writing in a flowing script even as she spoke, "Mr. Belvare is open to any walk in applicants. All you will need to do is show up and politely request to fill the open position within his establishment." With a final flourish she signed her name at the bottom of the paper. After folding and sealing the letter in wax Serenity would hand it to Indyrio, "Please present this to him when you arrive. I have personally recomended you for the position, and so you should have no troubles at all gaining work."

Sitting back in her chair, Serenity would fold her hands in her lap and recross her legs, "Now, as for a place of lodging Alvadas has a couple of interesting locations that I think you might find accommodating. The Cubacious Inn is a very nice establishment run by Miss Gregoria Delner. The rooms are nice, the cost mild and the service is excellent." Serenity's fingers came up to steeple before her face as a slight grimace lit her lips, "The other is known as The Wolf Cave. It is home the resident Kelvic wolf pack in Alvadas. The inn is... quaint, and the prices are a bit cheaper."

Serenity smiled up at Indyrio and leaned forward once more, "If that is all then I believe we have reached the end of our time together. Please do not hesitate to return if you have further need."

OOCAt this point Indyrio can simply walk out if he wishes. All formal matters are attended to, and I will be sending you a PM shortly with a link to the next thread in your series. Good luck :)
