Name: Izra
Race: Kelvic, cat
Age: One year old
Birthday: 23rd Spring, 511

Physical Description
Izra is a rather unremarkable girl at a glance. Standing at 4'10", she is pretty, but by no means beautiful. Outwardly, she appears to be either thirteen or fourteen years old, while she is only, in fact, a little under a year old. Her human form is sleek and she moves with the grace borne of her feline nature, making no attempt to hide it. Her skin is without mark, tanned from time spent outside, and her hands and feet are thickly calloused after spending most of her life exploring Syliras' rooftops.

If she is in a city or any place she thinks it likely to encounter people, Izra wears only a pair of loose, homespun trousers and an equally loose blouse, both of which can be discarded in a few moments, if need be. She prefers to wear nothing at all if she is in a place where humans will not gawk at her, and sees clothing as more of an annoyance than a necessity in the warmer seasons. During the winter, however, she will concede to nature and wear a pair of sturdy boots and a woolen cloak.

Izra's face is lightly freckled and smooth, and her straight, dark-brown hair falls to dangle just above her shoulders, ending in a jagged line as if cut with a knife. Upon looking into her dark green eyes, the flecks of lighter green would be easily visible, as would her elongated, feline pupils.

In her feline form, Izra is a calico cat of average size, and just as unremarkable as she is in her human form. Her short hair is primarily a dark brown with patches of lighter brown and white covering her. The only unusual thing about Izra is her eyes, which are identical to those in her human form. Without either being extremely familiar with Izra in both forms or seeing her change from one to the other, it would be hard to notice the similarities between the two forms.

Character Concept

Izra is a stoic, quiet woman who may seem to be quite cold and mean, though she is anything but. Her behavior stems from natural caution and wariness, and she will generally consider anything unknown to be a possible threat until she knows otherwise. When she is comfortable with everyone and everything around her, Izra is much more relaxed and friendly, if not cheerful.

She is not one known for intervening in a conflict to help others without some sort of reason behind it. Without some sort of authority directing her to help, she would likely pass on by any sort of trouble, unless she had an emotional connection with one of the participants. This would be normal, if it were not for her unique definition of an emotional connection; if someone has helped her at all, or even been remotely kind in the recent past, she would jump to their aid immediately. She would not risk her life for someone who is nearly a complete stranger, though she would go out of her way to help unless someone she considers to be her authority has sent her on a task. If this were the case, she would walk past with only a small pang of regret.

In her rare playful moods, Izra can even be childish. When she was younger, she would often run through the city in either(or both!) of her forms, using her catlike agility to its fullest potential. Some of the best times were when she was being chased, and she enjoyed it immensely. As Izra grew older, she began to understand the danger of taunting dogs or humans into trying to catch her, and did it less frequently, though she is still known to cause a little mischief in her cat form from time to time.

Like all Kelvics, Izra is always seeking some sort of leadership and direction in her life, and will obey a stranger's orders if she has nothing to do of any importance. From her personal knowledge of the bond her parents shared with their human, she knows that a Kelvic can be loved as a loyal pet and not merely tolerated as a servant. Despite this, if one were to attempt to instill in her the idea that a certain person were her master, she would take to it quite easily, even if she did not like said person.

True to her Kelvic nature, she detests fighting anything that is equal or superior to her in combat ability. This being said, her combat ability is rather lacking, though she would be more than willing to use whatever skill she has to defend those she is close to. If she were to choose a preferred method of combat, she would likely choose to strike from a shadowy corner when her quarry was not looking. This would give her time to play with her chosen victim, not to mention being quite safe.

Character History

Born to a pair of sparrow Kelvics, Izra had an interesting childhood to say the least. Their bondmate, a man by the name of Naras, considered them to be little more than pets, though he loved them and treated them well. Soon after her birth, Izra began shifting into a kitten at random intervals, much to her parents' surprise and worry. Yaril and Era, the father and mother, realized that living in the small apartment they shared with Naras would become rather difficult, as he had told them not to revert to their human forms without good reason because of the space constraints. Besides this, Naras found the nudity that accompanied a Kelvic's shift to be rather unsettling.

After four months, Izra began to find it greatly amusing to jump up after her parents in an attempt to catch them. Unwilling to test exactly how far their daughter could restrain her animal instincts, Yaril and Era began to spend most of their time in the rafters and elsewhere. One time, Izra did manage to catch Yaril, and he had to quickly shift to his human form to avoid being harmed. Izra shifted soon afterward, shamefaced. After a quick apology, Yaril assured her that it was only natural, and they quickly resumed their animal forms before Naras could walk in and reprimand them for disobeying his orders.

Once Naras learned of this close call, he began encouraging Izra to play outside more often, as she had been cooped up in the house for nearly six months, by this time. From this point on, she would spend most of her day running through the city, enjoying the fresh air and the adrenaline that came from performing daring acrobatics on the rooftops. Izra could not jump or climb as impressively as other cats, as she was not yet fully grown, but she found it to be great fun, all the same. Soon after being permitted to leave their home, she had run about in her human form. Unfortunately, the humans did not take this well, as she had never paid much attention to clothing, thinking of it as merely something Naras always wore for some reason. Having not a scrap of cloth to her name(and being chased by a few very confused guards, besides), she shifted back to her feline form and quickly darted down an alleyway to escape.

After 11 months, Naras finally decided that having a cat in the house with two birds was simply not an option any longer. He had nearly lost one of his pets, had to feed a cat that was neither interesting nor productive, and was rather tired of putting up with it. He had never liked cats, anyway. When he announced to the three Kelvics his intention, the parents immediately protested. He knew they would obey his will, and they knew his mind was already made up. They simply asked that he provide a good bit of money and a set of clothing for their daughter. Being the good-hearted man that he was, he readily agreed, and had a set of clothing tailored for her, as well as provide her with six hundred golden mizas to tide her over.

After saying a tearful farewell to her parents in her human form, she set out with her new possessions. Following her parents' advice, she left Sylira in search of another city with better opportunities for someone such as herself. Unfortunately, they neglected to remember that she was not able to read, as they had never bothered to teach her. Had Naras not spoken to them often, she would not even be able to speak Common properly! Deciding that her course was already set, she began following well-marked roads to wherever they might lead her.
