Tock's house A mural of a seascape scene covers one full side of the house. The bright colors contrast with the plain dull wood that makes up the rest of the simple cottage. Piles of wood are stacked up outside, covered to protect them from the weather. The lawn is covered with scattered wood chips, and footprints from a variety of creatures that can't be human. Strange tracks are scattered around, some from a creature with four legs, others with five, and yet others with eight. Inside, the house is an elaborate mess. Sawdust, screws, nails, and other dirt and debris cover the floor, except for the right side of the room which is dominated by two large chalk circles, connected by a blood-stained line. Faded runes of a mystical nature surround the circles. Near the door, a series of wooden blocks are nailed in a strange pattern onto the floor. Pairs of blocks are nailed down like bridge posts, with thick boards attached across them. A thin layer of ash dots the floor underneath them. The walls are covered in papers that take up every inch. The pages climb the walls from floor to ceiling, some of them even tacked up on the ceiling itself. The papers are sketches and diagrams of a wide variety of things, from tools to animals to people. Many of the drawings include images of gears and other mechanical parts, some of them mixed with the bodies of the physical creatures. One entire wall is heavily dominated by sketches of both living and mechanical wolves. In the back of the house, a stone statue dominates one corner. It depicts a man in ragged clothing with a frightened look on his face. The form is frozen in mid-step, with a sword half-drawn from a stone scabbard. The level of detail is so life like that it almost looks as though the statue is about to come to life. Standing in the house gives you an eerie feeling of being watched, and there are occasional scurries of movement from the corners of your eyes, along with the strange sound of wood clattering against wood. |
