Shena suspected there was more to this man. He seemed quite sound and not the soul-searching type he claimed to be. Everyone had their secrets – even her- so she supposed she couldn’t judge him on that alone. By far, he was the friendliest person she’d come across in a long time. Even for Benshira standards, he hadn’t become annoyed with her so called lack of respect for the greater sex. The though alone made her dark gaze flit skyward for the briefest of moments. ”I should hope not.” she said blithely, her brows rising slightly as if questioning herself. ”I’m not the type to cause trouble.” Her words were presented in obvious fairytale and she looked at him carefully. Perhaps he would leave now in hopes to avoid any trouble that might befall her as it usually did. Or perhaps he would stick around but not because he believed what she said.
The silence behind them deafened her ears and she grew still immediately. As though prompted by her stillness, a shrill shriek let out behind them and Shena threw herself into motion. Her gaze fell on someone, no, a group of someones trying to get away with Emi. A string of unladylike words flew from her lips in a slur of Benshira language and inventive slang. I spoke too soon it seems… she thought frantically as she picked up a rock and threw it at one of the men with surprisingly good aim. Though she didn’t stand still long enough to see the rock had cracked him in the shoulder; Shena was already scrambling for another rock.
She didn’t see who but someone made quick work of her and shoved her over and mounted Emi – who was still shrieking as though he’d been stabbed. ”No!” she yelled as she scrambled to her feet and batted her hair out of her face with her hand. She lifted her hand to her lips and a low pitched whistle let out and it took a minute for it to register but Emi lay down. By the time Emi hit the ground, Shena already had a sizeable rock in her hand raised and ready to hurl at someone.
