Character history:
Eric de Bedoux / Maius
Infamy, nobility, the question has often been asked if the sentient peoples of Mizahar are born with these traits or if they are inherited. I personally think that this question can not be answered in any way that will satisfy the scribes. Gather round as I tell you the tale of Maius. The bane of gods and mortals alike.
He was not always as we know him today. A cold ruthless monster. No instead Maius or Eric was born not twenty years ago Eric de Bedoux, a small time farmer outside of of Zeltiva. A peasant farmer of no note and no importance. He met the love of his live Marie at the ripe old age of eighteen. Together they had only one son. A beautifull boy named Tomas with hair like wheat and eyes like the earth, in this he took after his father. They had tried to enlarge their family but for some reason his wife just couldn't get pregnant again. Eric took this as sign that the gods had deemed them fit only to raise Thomas and that he would someday go on and do great things.
Marie and Eric loved each other like no one before in their small village and could they fight. Their neighbors, a good three miles away, could hear the arguments and they would always prepare a bed because they knew Eric would stumble a short time later down the road looking like a whipped puppy. Still it was said that only an fierce love could produce arguments this terrible to see, but the people of the farming village was not worried since they would only need to keep Eric with them a single night then he would be back in Marie's arms.
The family was happy beyond dreams. Marie was Eric's life and Thomas completed it.
Joy as is often the case doesn't last.
Eric took his wife and son with him on a special trip to to Zeltiva on the last day of winter. He went to the city to sell excess harvest. On this trip he took his ox cart through the small forest in order to save him some time on the trip. This time he should have stayed home. The wood was darker than Eric remembered and the animals sensing evil to come hid their faces. This supernatural quite made Eric slightly on edge. His wife seated next to him turned towards Eric. His smile all but disarmed her fear. Their son was in the back of the cart sleeping soundly.
That was the end of Eric de Bedoux and the birth of Maius bane of the living.
THis concludes my tale for this evening. Come back tommorow for the rest of the tale children.
