Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

“Fool.”

It was muttered for the seventh time in the last ten seconds. The city was large and strangely empty in this area. Or perhaps people were simply so absorbed in making sure the city was beginning to run smoothly again that they did not have to time to wander as she did. So not only was she lost but Apple couldn’t seem to find anyone to ask where precisely she was or how she was going to get back.

It was beginning to grate on her last bit of none existent patience and she was close to screaming, her teeth digging into her lip painfully and she sorely wished she had brought more than a crudely drawn map. Actually it was the maps fault anyhow. It was completely wrong!

Nothing looked familiar either not that she focused on much save for her feet. Constantly only watching her steps in almost a form of resignation, tired from walking and getting tired of being angry. Letting out a cry of frustration finally she ran a hand over her face tiredly. It was warmer than what she was used too and her pants clung uncomfortably with a dampness she would rather not name. Of course none of this matter when she opened her eyes again for in front of her was a very angry animal.

She forgot how to breathe for a moment; the dog seemed to be nearly as big as she was! Her legs felt strangely like a jelly dessert and her brain could not seem to make heads or tails of how to react. Her movement only seemed to come back as she heard the beast growl. Turning without so much as a sound she made to flee but it jumped on her back.

Unsure of what else to do she finally released her scream. Her etiquette flying out the windows a stream of words spewed from her lips that would make anyone cringe.

Damn Dogs! (Kadrath)

Kadrath was saddled with the unenviable task of finding --and more importantly, terminating all the stray dogs that had been affected by the season's Djed storm. They were a menace to the denizens of Riverfall and he was one of a half dozen others sent out to destroy the threats. So far that day, they'd found two very deformed and extremely aggressive creatures that were once recognizable as a purebred dog.

The seven foot Akontak, Rock and Chain all stopped abruptly, on right and left point with Rath as the base of the triangle. The pup (mastiff looking)lifted a paw and perked up his ears at a sound while the kit (cheetah) stared at something so hard her pupils were tiny pinpoints.

A woman's terrified scream pierced the air and the three moved swiftly into action. Rath gestured to the pair to take a pincer's strategy and the moment he saw the disgusting beast that could loosely be described as 'dog,' he made an overhead throwing motion which set kit and pup to pounce on the beast from both sides. This method involved Rock shoving a massive head into the beast's side to bowl it over and then Chain using her lethal claws and dexterity to hop on the thing's back and give the neck breaking bite.

Rock charged into action, his enormous weight lending a huge amount of strength to a fast, hard headbutt. The deranged creature snarled in surprise but had no time to avoid the well planned collision. Its bizarre five legged self was sent sprawling through the air, landing it nearly ten feet away from Apple. Chain unsheathed her deadly claws, opened a mouthful of sharp fangs, and pounced on the offending beast with a savage scream.

With huge strides, Rath ran up to where Apple lay on the ground in sheer terror at the near calamity. There was a tussle of buff colored fur and a flurry of growling and snarling that would make the bravest of people tremble at the ferocity.

The tall indigo skinned man reached down to help up the woman, asking,

"Are you alright? Did it hurt you?"

Damn Dogs! (Kadrath)

Postby Apple Cretshaw on May 21st, 2012, 6:47 pm

Her fear gave way to a sudden anger and though she took his hand thanks did not immediately spill from her lips. Her body still shook slightly and her teeth chattered and snapped adding venom to each word she spit out. Hurt me?! It tried to eat me! That vile thing—it wasn’t even—it is not even anything. What on Mizahar is it?! Deplorable city and its deformities and—“

She cut off with a sudden squeak at seeing the other two animals. Saviors or not. Her anger deflated and she quickly realized she was still holding the large indigo man’s hand and dropped it as if it were on fire. Also noting she had probably over stepped her boundaries within the city with her little tirade. Taking a few deep puffs of air she tried to right herself and her emotions. Caught between shaking in fury and shaking in fear. If she were more prepared she would have ripped the stupid thing apart—well, maybe not but it made her feel a bit better.

Inching away from the animals ever more she found herself back away, her eyes still wide and wild. Her hands up as if in some sort of surrender.

“I apologize and thank you. I’m just a bit,” she searched for a word but found herself unable to describe anything. Her shoulders slumping as her emotions finally settled on nervous relief. “My name is Apple Cretshaw.”

“T-those are your…pets?”

She could not help the last question any more than she could her stutter. First it was the birds and now there was whatever it was that attacked her. A dog of some kind or was a dog of some kind. Why was it every animal here seemed to want to eat her or peck her? Did they take her name literally? Sighing she realized she was being much too literal and quickly shook her head as if to shake the very thoughts from her brain.

Her shaking she now noted with some annoyance had not disappeared and she next tried a lame attempt at a joke as she gestured to the carcass. She didn’t flinch, well perhaps a little but only briefly before her eyes narrowed at it in anger. It had gotten what it deserved. “Well, that would not make any good meal for anyone.”
