Physical Description
In her human form, Kasai is about 5' 7" and weighs about 120 pounds. She keeps trim by hunting constantly, having no master or mistress and living off whatever she can catch. Kasai's long hair is light-colored, and her dark eyes are reminiscent of the forest that she comes from. The canine version of Kasai has the same dark eyes as in her human form, and silver fur.
Character Concept
Kasai is distrustful of others, confident of her own power, and keeps to herself, sometimes spending long hours hunting for food, or sitting in a tree watching the world go by. But if you get to know her, she is very loyal and can have rare moments of kindness. She doesn’t care what people call her, and she usually doesn’t give people her name. Kasai frequently has nightmares of her father and Nhaok getting killed. Sometimes, her mother appears, always disappearing before Kasai can see her face.
Character History
The cause of her relatively non-Kelvic nature and her independence is that she had to grow up a lot on her own. Kasai’s mother died when she was born, before giving Kasai a name, and her father, after teaching her how to hunt, was killed in his lynx form by a poacher. Six-month-old Kasai wandered to the nearest town, Lhavit, nameless and hungry. The beautiful archways and tall, crashing waterfalls amazed her eyes, which had only ever seen forests and mountains. However, she quickly forgot the scenery when her stomach growled again. An old man found her, gave her a piece of bread, and brought her into his bookshop. He told Kasai that he was a mage, and he wanted to take her in as his apprentice. He could see her potential, and he needed someone to carry on his legacy of Reimancy. She agreed to be his apprentice.
The old mage, who told Kasai to call him Nhaok, was the one who actually gave Kasai her name, which means hope in Nader-Canoch. He observed her personality for a few days before deciding to teach her water as her first element. After that, he initiated her (she still has the scars on her hand) and began teaching her Reimancy. Kasai’s progress with water over one year left her very good at Water Reimancy. However, before she could start learning her second element, air, Nhaok was brutally killed before Kasai’s eyes by a man who hated magic and those who practiced it. The murder was so traumatic for Kasai that she went into overgiving in a rage trying to kill the murderer. Her hands started shaking, and upon conjuring a giant wave of water, she lost control and it swept her away too.
She awoke much later, in the vast reaches of the Unforgiving, and began making her way towards Taldera, the "hunters' paradise" that her father had spoken of.
