Night falls like it always does. So does divinity. Like a snake fresh out of its skin, Alpheratz is confused at the loss of his legs. Strange things grow on his back and he remembers them while calling out their name. His tongue disobeys and he is struck with childish curiosity. Why won’t his language work? Refusing to give up there, he inspects his fur tail, naming parts of his body in the human tongue he despises. The ethaefal can already be presumed as lost. This feeling does not linger very long as his body finds purpose in self exploration. Hands moving along the awkward figure he notices some parts of him have shrunk. Leaning over and examining his face in a puddle, he certainly feels lesser – ugly and short. Quick on his tail, his body propels into the air. The wings obey silently as he remembers how to hold himself steady in flight. Aiming somewhere in the distance, the akvatari starts humming a long forgotten melody. He is soon gone, but the echoes of his song remain a brief witness to his former presence.
Still in flight, Alpheratz races back into the dawn. Slowly losing strength his wings don’t uplift him and his body feels heavier somehow. Like cold iron he falls down to the ground, failing to grasp first rays of light. Surprisingly enough, the man falls back to his feet. Noticing he has something sensible to stand on again, this sunchild simply lays back into the grass, smiling. If something bothers him, he doesn’t show it. Smiling instead, he reaches his hand out to Syna. He can still feel her even this far away, but like him, her glow is lessened so far from Ukalas. Tracing fingers across the torso, Alpheratz is pleased with what he touches. He is tall again. Feet celebrate this metamorphous triumph by the wiggling of toes. Wings are truly a small price to pay for such beauty. He would do it again and again and again until time claimed him. Wait – has he been he nude the entire time? |
Being one of the few individuals brave or stupid enough to seek out the rift for his own musings, Alpheratz is unquestionably an adventurer by heart. Fascinated with everything new and foreign, this son of Syna is lead by desire. Stopping at nothing once interest is sprung – he gets what he wants when he wants it. He isn’t a malevolent soul per se, but his desires do get the best of him nine times out of ten. Control is quite possible; he just doesn’t want to bother with it. No matter how bad he wants something, he’ll try and find a peaceful/resourceful way of problem solving before resorting to more nefarious means. Even when taunted by desire beyond measure, the sunchild won’t go beyond stealing. Like many of his kind, he too has seen too much to harm someone physically in anything other than self defense. Unlike his former life as a child of sky and sea, Alpheratz is quite optimistic about his exploits. Something in him begins to shift every time his wings grow back and an old, familiar instinct for melancholia kicks back in. Not to say he becomes someone depressed at night. On the contrary, night time doesn’t faze him much and even when it does, his usual calm demeanor facades it well.
Unlike many other ethaefal, he doesn’t consider his fall to be anything terribly tragic. Sure he has served Syna faithfully and sure he misses the Goldenlands from time to time, but he thinks he had a fun run and the fall is just another chance for adventure (albeit with a shocking start). Alpheratz doesn’t resent the Goddess nor does he feel sad for falling through the rift, but certain nostalgia is slowly taking hold of his spirit. The view he has over his brothers and sisters in both light and the fall doesn't discern much emotion. This fallen considers them depressing, if anything. His mind isn’t used to the mortal existence anymore and it’s easy to excite him with even the most usual of Mizahar’s wonders. In a certain light, this child could even be called a beacon of hope. Alpheratz’s love for storytelling accompanied with his nurturing of beauty in the world and adventurous spirit are all cause for immeasurable passion. And the man uses this passion to invoke hope, cheer and joy in others. If he can make them forget about their day to day worries if only for a chime, he’ll continue to have a purpose and the world will be a brighter place for it. |

- No starting money - Yes I understand what this means and no, I don't feel it needs change. Simply put - ethaefal falling through the rift are rare, but ethaefal falling through the rift and landing on a fortune sounds maddening.
