Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Learning from the Darkness(Cailet)

The rogue patiently waited for Cailet to have her say until it was time for them to enter the tower. He had no regrets for what he shared, for indeed telling half bits of knowledge about his past was only dangerous if others could gain the bits they didn't have on him to create the whole picture. Perhaps it was merely this place, or perhaps he actually felt he could trust this individual, regardless of her oddities. The gods knew he probably had a lot more of them then she. Still, the fact that she saw fit to warn him about the dangers of such words spoke wonders to his soul, reconfirming that perhaps he was right about her. "I'll have a feeling you wouldn't betray such confidences, Cailet. As for being different, I can promise you that I actually like being around those who are different. I'll simply treat you as best I can , though tell me if the teasing becomes too much. I would not wish to harm your feelings if I'm merely trying to be social. Malice with you, is not my intent."

Of course, by only keeping the most important details closely guarded near his heart, Antar had learned to obfusticate some issues. Allowing him to put others at ease, in the rarest of occasions this one was such his only goal. He wanted Cailet to be relaxed in his presence, to know there was no direct threat to his being friendly, nor did he have anything to gain but hopefully pleasant platonic conversation with someone whose world view he found as fascinating as he had found Ulric's, Eridanus, Bob Barton's, or another of his acquaintances he might admit to actually classifying under the title of friends.

It was odd though, Shai had brought it to his attention that he had slowly been changing in how he classified things like danger. Anything which tried to kill him seemed to be made out to be 'annoying.' Yet, anything or anyone that attempted to harm those few he considered 'friends' might make him wear their guts for garters.

It was a skewed loyalty after all, but a loyalty nonetheless. Perhaps she had picked up on the subtle cues that Antar was not going to be 'wary' around her. It warmed the cockles of his cold black heart when he noticed her smile a bit. And he gave her a disarmingly pleasant smile in return. When she offered to allow him to take her hand he quickly moved to do so and let her begin to guide him into the tower.

The enshrouded realm seemed to cloak his eyes, stealing his vision and clouding the areas between the lights, and for a moment he was scared. But only for a moment, he did have a guide after all, and some part of him trusted her. So in this moment he allowed himself to trust her completely.Even if a small pit in his stomach made him feel as if he were about to walk off a cliff and fall into a neverending hole.

He tried to settle his fears. They were irrational after all (when had he ever been truly rational?) but only when he noticed her reaction to being within the tower did he manage to focus. At Cailet's gasp, he tried to gently squeeze Cailet's arm a moment in reassurance even if he could not see her face now. Eyes filled with a bit of concern looked towards where she was, hoping she was okay. Momentarily heedless of his own unease, Antar was focusing upon her in a rather unselfish way. His concern for her was mitigated slightly by her next words. "Wow. It's so powerful."

Whispering in reply, half to himself, and half to no one at all. "Yes, yes it is."

Taking a deep breath to compose himself, Antar let a bit of humor return to his voice. "Lead on Cailet and thank you for guiding me in this place. "

With just a moment's pause , Antar felt a tug on his arm as he was lead deeper into the Sanctuary that was the Night Tower. Cailet's grasp upon his hand pulling him along as if she was drawn towards some unseen place, or source. He merely allowed his steps to follow, like a leaf blown in the wind.
"I am the Shadow and the smoke in your eyes, I am the ghost that hides in the night."
