This is Falyndar at its finest. Danger lurks everywhere - in the ground, in the trees, in the bush. Only the strongest survive...

Despite the Dhani's callous attitude toward the two Myrians, this was not the easy battle she had been expecting. Slitted eyes watched her prey warily, flicking to Kilith, back to Revy, then back to Kilith, and Revy had timed her attack correctly a deep gouge slicing apart shining black scales above the hip and raking downwards to the base of the female Dhani's tail.
The snake hissed, a muted noise escaping through razor teeth at the deepness of the wound, rotating towards the human and snarling in fury. "Ssspeak up, ssslime, I didn't catch that."
The hooked sword flew towards Revy like a sledge hammer, grabbing the edge of her tower shield, and it was clear the full strength of the Dhani was coming to bear upon the human warrior. The pull was great, straining her arm. She had two choices, to go with the shield or let it go, either way the control was in her opponent's hands and not her own.
However, though one of Revy's defensive advantages was disappearing like Syna's light at dusk, Kilith took advantage of the Dhani's focus upon the human. Her sword clattered to the ground and in both hands appeared gladius sized daggers. Tanned and muscled legs took two steps back then performed a running leap, jumping off of one of the rotting barrels and slamming both knives into the Dhani's neck, a scream loud and piercing, as well as trapped in the tight confines reverberating from all walls and bouncing back upon the combatants.
The female Dhani twisted and bucked trying to loose the Myrian from her back, but Kilith wrapped her legs around the female's torso.
"Come on Revy, now!" She screamed, the serpent's stomach exposed. It was the first time she had called the human by name...

Seeing her sword cut open the Dhani, was so gratifying. That high and mighty monster was so confident she could beat these two, yet now she was losing. She had her tail cut open and now a part of her front as well. Could she really win like she thought like this? Not if it was up to Revy. She was going to finish the job, and finish it quickly.
Attempting to do another attack, she didn't see the move made by the Dhani. All of a sudden the hook of that sword was around the mercenary's shield, yanking hard at it. It brought Revy off balance and she quickly had to let go of it, or risk getting her arm dislocated as well as being flung around. She wasn't happy that she had to lose her protection, but if it meant survival, it was alright. As a reaction to losing her shield, she drew her dagger instead.
Before she knew it, Kilith was on the Dhani's back, her daggers dug deep into the neck of this creature. The scream of pain from the Dhani went through her bones and almost frightened her enough to make her stop. However, this proved a golden opportunity to finish the job as the Myrian wanted. It was better not to waste a breath and just finish her off. They had to get to the others fast. Who knew what kind of trouble they were in.
She lashed out with her longsword, forgetting the dagger in her left hand for now, and thrust it up into the Dhani's belly, angled toward her face. This way, she would bury it all the way to the hilt without having it stick out the other side. It also was sure to damage multiple vital organs. And if that wasn't enough, she also twisted it, making sure that wound would never heal properly. |

"Petching Monkeysss, I'll kill you I'll kill you a- hrk"
The tirade ended abruptly as Revy's long sword buried itself in the Dhani's stomach, eviscerating the snake's insides in one swift and fluid motion. Yellow eyes gazed down in mild surprise as blood black and brackish flowed like a waterfall out of her chest, hot on Revy's hands so close to the gaping wound she had just torn asunder.
The human could hear hoarse laughter from Kilith's position on the Dhani's neck, a sucking sound heralding the female's daggers being pulled out of the serpents back. "Monkeys move faster than snakes, bitch." She said coldly, then as the Dhani's form began slumping forward, drew one of the blade's across her neck, finishing the job.
The Dhani's corpse toppled to the ground, giving Revy just enough time to retract the blade from her insides before the heaping weight of it collapsed with the rest of the dead bodies in the room.
Kilith looked tired and weary, as if in the span of that afternoon 10 years had been added to her age, which was certainly possible with at least half of her fang gone. A rumbling sound echoed in the cavern making the two women start, turning toward the sound which revealed itself as the stone door moving slowly upward.
"Kilith?" An equally tired sounding voice called out hesitantly after about a foot of space had been created. The Myrian female breathed a sigh of relief. They were not all dead then. Kilith strode forward, sheathing her weapons and helping raise the door, kicking a few sections of wood into the slots on either side of the door to help maintain the weight once it was upright.
"Who still lives?" The fang leader asked, no nonsense.
"Kalsa, Terrin, and I" said a stout female who if Revy recalled had been referred to as Gyva before the stone door had split the fang apart. Kilith inclined her head sadly at the deaths of her fang members, but her dark eyes held a fierce amount of pride. There were two Dhani bodies among her fallen brethren. "And who...lives on you end?" Gyva inquired hesitantly.
"Only Revy and I." Kilith said shortly, pain hanging at the end of 'I'. Mournful silence followed her appraisal, before it could draw on too long the fang leader continued. "We were foolish, but I know you fought well, as did Kazca and Firit, few fangs could ever claim to take on Dhani 2 to 1, yet we have, and our fallen comrades are being guided by Dira even now back into the bodies of new Myrians, to rise again as even more potent warriors. They will be remembered, they will be mourned, but they served Myri till the last, and she will know that." Nods of agreement came from all heads, Kilith glancing from one room to another.
"We cannot risk getting caught in another attack, we will have to leave them." No one questioned Kilith's wisdom, and the remaining members of the fang formed up behind the studded female as she guided her pack out of the tunnels back up through the ground and into what had become a warm Falyndar night. Just as they had come the fang spread out instinctively making a smaller half circle, and began their trek back through the jungle, slower now for the cover of darkness. Kilith beckoned Revy close to her, since the human didn't know the ins and outs of Falyndar's terrain, and they began their trek back to the capitol.
OOCA little time jump will happen after your next post, time for some closure!

The remaining fang were as silent as the grave that night, their progress slow, their steps cautious. That cavern was far away from Zinrah, but it didn't mean there couldn't be more Dhani lurking in the shadows. The idea that so many of those blasted serpents had snuck their way so close to the city galled the fang members, and it would be a mistake soon remedied once they reached the city.
That night was a long one filled with mournful bird calls, each crackling of the leaves signalling a potential enemy or creature that ruled over the night. Despite the paranoia of the entire party, no vicious assault came from Dhani or any other potential enemies. They stopped only once to relieve themselves and take a water break before continuing, and exhaustion wore upon the senses as the walked. Finally, and slowly Syna's light curled over the horizon, inch by inch illuminating the jungle around them, and cresting over the canopy just as the procession, tired and worn out reached the entrance to the City of Bones.
Two guards vigilant with their massive tigers, looked with concern upon the half fang, but did not question them as Killith led them through the tunnel and out into the city. They tromped down the well worn pathways, already bustling with traders, workers, and an occasional Tskanna. Killith led her fang to the military complex, the trail of warriors walking slowly through the massive wooden gates and into the barracks. Here she turned, metal studs glowing in the faint light leaking through the windows.
"Everyone grab a bunk and rest, you all need and have earned it, I'll report our find to the Scout's and get it ferried up the chain of command." Too tired to protest the fang slowly sidled through the hallways, Revy able to follow anyone she wished until she found the rooms containing simple cots and hammocks strung up and all empty waiting for her tired muscles and exhausted mind.

Seeing the walls of Taloba seemed to invigorate the human a little. Her tread became a little steadier again and she seemed to perk up a little. Perhaps it was because soon she was going to be safe again. After all, that little adventure in those tunnels wasn't particularly something she wanted to remember. She felt as if she failed. After all, they lost far too many good myrian fighters.
Yet despite having gotten back a little of her vigor, she still walked like a zombie following the rest of the fang. She didn't even react much to what Kilith had said. Right now she just wanted to go to bed. She followed the rest of the fang to the bunks. Oh how she wanted to just fall into them. However, she first had to get rid of her weapons, still strapped onto her.
Once she had dropped them next to the bunk, she didn't even bother getting out of her armor and just dropped into it. It didn't take more then a few ticks before she fell asleep, only to be haunted by nightmares. |

Snakes throwing Myrians like ragdolls slowly faded from Revy's mind as she rested in the infirmary and drifted into consciousness. The pain came first. She had gotten away from her exchange lightly compared to the others, but her ribs were bruised, and her body felt like it had been squashed under a massive boulder, head throbbing. After a chime the human realized she was utterly alone in the sparsely furnished room, a half used roll of bandages and wooden cup of water sitting upon a small table next to her bed.
"You fought for my people, and found a nest far too close to Taloba for comfort, human."
The voice was female, though deep, and if Revy strained her eyes she could see it was coming from a shadowed form in the far corner of the room, standing straight as a post in the relative darkness of her corner.
"Kilith said you fought well...." Her pause almost indicated the unsaid (for a human) yet it was not spoken.
"So tell me why you have come to my city, Revy Hiroe, what do you seek within our wall of bones, and the deadly jungles that surround it?"

She shouldn't have woken up. Then she wouldn't have felt her whole body aching. It took a while, but she noticed she was all alone in the room. Why was she all alone? Where were the others? Ah great. Apparently she still wasn't as strong as the others. Why else would she need to rest longer then them? What would she have to do to get as strong as these Myrians? That still remained a question for her.
And then she heard someone talking. Female, judging by the voice. Revy almost got angry at those words. Another myrian looking down on her? But she didn't say the last words at least. And now she had to explain herself. Though she didn't quite understand why. After all, what other reason could one have for coming to the myrians other then becoming stronger?
"What I came here for was training and fights. I live for a fight and wish to die in one later. I want to become stronger, so that I shall never lose again. I came here to have fun.", she said as she started to smile, "There's no greater enjoyment then a fight. The feeling of having your blood boil, the smell of sweat, the clash of steel on steel which is like music. What other reason could one have for coming here?" |

"What other reason, indeed." There was a short thoughtful pause, then the figure stepped out into the slanted and dusty rays of sunlight filtering in from the training yard outside. Even in the partial shadows she was a sight to behold. Her skin was the color of copper, her eyes two hawk like black coals. Her face was all angles, sharp yet fine. Ebony locks were wound into a complicated series of braids, and trailed down over her shoulder into the cleft between her breasts.
She wore the simple cloth of her people, yet a border of gold thread around the edges of the one draped around her hips and chest suggested something of her power. Several belts wound themselves around her body, containing daggers, a sword so long its hilt nearly touched the ground, and a shortbow over her shoulder. Myri took another step forward and there could be no doubting the power in her lithe frame, even if Revy could not grasp her true identity.
"It is not often an outsider gains my attention, but I see your heart is forged in the fires of battle, just as mine own, and the one's of my people are. That desire brought you here, and you've had just a taste of the monsters we fight to eradicate. One more question I will ask of you. Where will your life lead from here?"
A strange aura emanated from the Goddess of War. She seemed almost like a tiger, patient, but dangerous, as if she could pounce upon Revy at any moment for no reason at all. Yet even as that gaze bored down on her, she could feel...almost a sense of pride in it as well, as if whatever her answer was it would be the right one...

What she saw was nearly unbelievable. It was a myrian who stepped out of the shadows, but.... this person, she was so much more. She was gorgeous, dangerous, strong. What drew her attention more was the number of weapons that woman carried. And as she took another step forward, the human knew that even if she were to challenge this myrian, she wasn't gonna last long at all. It wouldn't be a fun battle. It would just be short and a complete humiliation.
She felt rather proud that she had drawn this woman's attention, though she didn't quite get why. However, she hid this because she thought that something like that could make her appear as weak. If you're proud of attracting someone's attention, it'd mean that you wanted to serve that person. Or at least, that's how Revy viewed it for now.
"I go where ever there are contracts. I'm a hired blade. There where they need my sword, is where I'll go. I don't sit still often. I don't spend more then a few seasons in a city if it's possible.", she said, "Pretty much been traveling my whole life, so don't see any reason to change that." |
oocIf Revy gets her mark, could it be on the left shoulder? Thanks in advance
