Justori, Mage of the Benshira Physical Description Name: Justori, from the tents of Marius, of the sons of Jeroab Race: Benshira Age: 20 Birthday: 28th Day of the Fall Season, 492 AV. Character Concept Justori is a kind hearted person with a sad, bleak past. He's optimistic and has a lot of hope for the world. All he wants it a peaceful world where everyone is happy. He is very protective of the weak and helpless, and has little mercy for truly evil, coldhearted people. Character History Justori was born without much anything of notice. He was raised normally all his life. At about five he was found to have a very strong liking to just the name of Yahal. Once he began to understand what it meant to worship Yahal, Justori immediately took it's practice to heart. At six years old, he returned a sewn goat doll he had taken from a neighbor child a year ago and burned one of his toys (a carved bone man) in the dinner fire. Whenever his parents prayed, he'd join in. And no matter what happened to him, his parents would ask "Are you okay?" or "How are you feeling?" and his response was always the same. "Yahal will lead me through wherever it is I must go." At age ten is when his life began to stand out from the average Benshira. He began to play with children and roam the city more. Though he had grown up speaking and hearing Shiber, he latched on the the Common spoken by traveling merchants and drifters. He picked up more and more and became quite good at it. By the time he was twelve, his parents began to pay a merchant who spoke common (one who had decided to stay in Yahebah rather than continue to travel) to teach Justori as much as he could. Over the next two years, Shiber took a back seat to Common. Justori's learning of common had not effected his day to day life much. He could still speak Shiber, and understand it. Justori regularly visited his old friend Sebaich's (the merchant who had taught him Common) house. One particular day, Sebaich had a friend of his over. "Come here, Justori, meet my friend Angaile. I wrote to him of this hospitable city and he has decided to stay for a week or two." Justori shook hands with Angaile and sat down with him and Sebaich for an evening of pleasant food and conversation. As usual, Justori lit a small fire and burned a portion of his food for Yahal. Sebaich did the same. Angaile held an inquisitive look on his face for a moment before remembering about the local customs, after which he too burned some of his food. Later that week Justori came to Sebaich's house to find Sebaich reaching for a vase which was surrounded by blue, water-like energy that Angaile was conjuring. As Sebaich grabbed the vase, Angaile dismissed the water-like energy and sat down. Justori had a look of suspicion on his face. "You....you are a magi, Angaile?" "I am. It comes into great use when traveling. And even in mundane situations as a vase falling." Justori, feeling conflicted emotions inside of himself, ran back home. He did not return until three days later. When he did return, he found Angaile and Sebaich talking a man who had been selling his house for the past month or so. "Sebaich, what is going on?" "Angaile is buying a house. He has decided to stay." An hour later the three were in Sebaich's house drinking cactus water. Justori had thought about it overnight, and was currently building up the courage to ask; he wanted to learn magic. He had been instilled with some dislike for magic, but when he saw the vase saved from shattering, his mind blew up the small incident into a big picture. What could he prevent on a larger scale? If he knew magic, he could do so much, and even in Yahal's name! Yahal loved goodness, and what could be better than protecting people and places from harm? It was another half an hour before Justori blurted it out. "Angaile, please teach me the ways of a mage!." Angaile set down his clay cup and was silent for a few moments, which to Justori, seemed like an eternity. "Very well." Angaile said. "Be at my new house everyday when the sun is at it's highest." And with that, Angaile left. And then everyday at noon, Justori departed from his house for Angaile's. Angaile taught him about Dijed and overgiving. He taught Justori about the psychological effects, about how to use Dijed to do the magic Justori wanted. He taught Justori about concentrating and the methods to clear your mind. Justori picked up on this stuff quickly, and eventually moved on. "I can personally teach you only Reimancy and Shielding, as it is all I have ever learned and wished to learn. But on that book shelf I have book an one or two other kinds of magic. Though the information you will find is not comprehensive, there is a basic level of learning to be had from them. I believe there is also a book in there on Nader-Canoch. And that began Justori on his path of using Nader-Canoch incantations to help him use his Reimancy (which he found himself commanding the earth), Sheilding, Projection, and Flux magics. He practiced everyday for six months before Angaile decided to call him a novice. But at this time, the other kids his age began to notice the small magical things he did. Justori thought of them as small, good deeds. But others saw them simply as magic, the evil thing. The thing that destroys people and lives. They began to pick on Justori. Sometimes he got in fights with them. He learned how to fight from how often these fights occurred, and as they kept happening, he only got better. This helped learn how to use his Flux at the right time and in the right area. Shielding also helped some too. But eventually, things escalated. One night, some of the more "courageous" teenagers broke the fence to Justori's family's small animal pen. Their whole livestock (two cows and two goats) got out. Hearing the commotion, his whole family stirred awake. His mother and father hurried out to return their livestock, telling Justori to wait and they'd be back soon. They didn't return. A search party set out the next day and found the little that remained of Justori's parents and their livestock. It was found that they were all attacked by a pack of Tsana. Some cracked teeth found at the scene implied his parents did not die as easy prey. That day Justori quit learning magic beyond what he already had. He blamed it and himself for his parents death. Being a child, he went to go live with Sebaich. Over the years, he took more and more comfort in Yahal, spending much of his time praying and sometimes burning whole meals to Yahal. By the time he was eighteen, he had more or less re-accepted magic into his life. He went back to live in his parents house. He got more livestock. He opened up Justori's Herbs, Healing, and Dairy in a stand out near the market and lived with some level of contentedness. But now he felt he we destined to do more than sell old women herbs to cure the corns on their feet. He decided he would redeem magic in the eyes of the Benshira. That he would become a mage who upheld justice, good, and all in Yahal's name. He decided he would help those who needed it, using the skills he had acquired in his few short years in Yahebah. After being marked by Yahal, Justori said goodbye to his friends and traded his parent's house for an Eyktoli Desertbreed and a tent. He then set off for Ahnatep where he has stopped briefly for rest and supplies.
