Afternoon, 17th of Summer, AV512

Lorelai was helped bringing her things from Dovah, her Mixed Blood, white mare that was now resting. Lorelai picked a spot near the outskirts of the base camp so that she could be close to the wildlife. Her main purpose for coming here was to see if she could work as a medic as well as be someone that the village could use as an interpreter to the fauna that might cause trouble at the camp.

Her Konti blessed gift is to be able to communicate with animals, but she had all of the other traits that came with being of the Konti as well. Lorelai was small and petite. She was only 5" 2' and weighed a slim 110 lbs. She thanked the Jomura that helped her and politetly shooed them away. Lorelai was very shy and quiet and she needed time to herself a little more before she began talking to many strangers. Lorelai seceretly hoped some would look past her shy and quiet dismeanor and accept her as a friend.

Of course in the Konti society her quietness was not something uncommon. Most Konti were usually soft spoken. Rarely were they bold and outgoing. Lorelai also chose to stay farther from the others due to her fate of being overrun by others emotions. If the emotions got too much they could make her ill. Lorelai wanted to at least have mornings and nights where she wasn't overwhelmed.

Lorelai breathed in deeply and looked around. Her spot was farthest out than any of the others but she didn't mind. She kept her hood up and slowly began to set out her tent. Her white her was long and wavy, almost touching the ground as she bent down. The hood concealed everything but her nose, mouth, and chin. You could tell she was a Konti, however, because her pale, iridescent scales and webbed hands were visible as she worked. As she continued to struggle with her large tent Lorelai began to regret not having the Jomura stay and help her.

Heavy footfalls encroached upon the ground as the large man explored the Base Camp. Ironclad boots leaving their marks upon the ground with each step, a light clink as the armour shifted on his muscled form. Adorning a dirty green coat, latched well and shut fully. The hood over his face letting only a slight glimpse at his eyes, what wasn't shadowed was covered by his white scarf. With blazing deep ruby eyes he gazed out at the world, a light cheerful yellow collected on the rims however. Turning his head to the right he saw the empty spot where his clay companion had once rested. He had left her behind to get acquainted with others. The large iron shoulder guards seemed empty without her perching there. At six foot he had to duck through what brush or tent lines that got in his way. Some almost taking off his hood, that would be quite undesirable.

As he stopped his walk he turned his head to the right now. Off a little ways was a young woman working with a tent. From this distance he only saw pale skin, as his eyes turned a curious orange he moved to investigate. The armour on his right arm clinked and creaked as he approached. Iron claw poised ready in case of threat he carefully approached. The leather that held his armour in place made more noise than he wished, and entrenched itself deeper into his large chest.

Observing her it was quickly becoming clear, she was having trouble with her tent. With a light sigh he remembered he had come to help, even if it was something small. Walking with more of a purpose this time, he stopped several paces from her. Gruff voice breaking past his white scarf, it was slow, almost sounding like it was painful to talk. "Do you, need some help? You look like, your having, some trouble."

Blunt and straight forward the imposing and brutish appearing man awaited a response. Folding his arms upon his chest, he was careful not to cut himself on the bladed claw adorning his right hand. With long and steady breathing he could feel some uncertainty building. Having grown used to speaking with a loud and outspoken person he had forgotten that the people here didn't even remotely know him. Anxiety crept in, mingling with his dwindling happiness. All minute to the rage held back behind these frontal emotions.

Lorelai blew out as some of her hair started sticking to her moistened lips. She sighed heavily then went still as she heard the clinking of armor and an emotion that grew stronger and stronger. She could feel slight annoyance but not at anything in particular. She jumped as a gruff voice rung out asking if she needed any help.

Lorelai gazed up at the enormous man covered in armor, a scarf and hood hiding everything but his eyes that were currently orange. Strage color for eyes. A Vanatha? Emotions from this man swirled and Lorelai choked out with a response. "A-ah...y-yes. I-I do need...some assistance..." Her voice was timid, shy, and slightly afraid. She had never been close to any other that wasn't Konti, let alone a male.

Her hood fell back as she stood a little taller so not to offend him, at least she thought that would help, but she had already shown fear towards him. Her pale violet eyes looked slightly passed his own orange pupils. She couldn't quite look him in the eye. She couldn't help it. She tried to focus more on not letting his anxiety press her more into hiding herself from him. She slowly put some of her white hair behind her left ear and swallowed.

"I-if you don't mind...could you help me, sir...?" She squeaked out then winced. Someone was here to try and help her and she was so frightened. How awful for her to do that. The young Konti shook slightly but quickly stopped. Be brave she thought. He only wants to help.

The young woman was shy, however she wasn't the only one presently shy. He could feel his own cheeks flushed from his uncertainty. Listening to the timid girl speak he had to crane his neck down a little to look at her. Once her hood was down she was very beautiful. The red dominating his eyes once more with yellow around the rims, his emotions calming. As he felt his mind focusing on the task at hand. She required help, and she had even told him so. His form was too large for a Vantha, and as he moved his almost Isurian muscles where squeezed by his coat.

Moving past her he saw that she hadn't properly put the polls up properly. And the pegs had yet to be secure, this may take a while. Setting them down he stood up and looked at her. Eyes swirling with the red, yellow outlining it brilliantly. The guff and graveled voice came forth once more. "By the way, my name is, Banir Ironwood. Nice to, meet you." He needed to pause a moment, a hand drifted under his scarf and rubbed his throat. It was starting to hurt a little from talking with the young woman.

He began to set to work once more making the front poll stand upright. All he needed to do was jam it into the ground, then the back one. Then the pegs and the lines to secure it. Stopping for a moment he shifted and looked over at her, his hand slipping from underneath his scarf. "Tell me, are you sure, you want to, set up your, tent so far, from the camp? It may not, be very safe." Though his voice was graveled and rough, despite his brutish appearance, thug like voice, and his mercenary look. There was quite a bit of concern in his voice for her.

Settling on one of his knees, his eyes carefully examining her. He knew little of Konti, however he felt that he was inferior. Konti, from what he knew of them. Where born of a god, and he was just a beaten son, scared and humiliated. Did he even deserve to be near her? He needed to shake his head, thoughts like that never helped anyone. Focusing on helping he made sure the pole was secure listening for her answer.

Lorelai watched the man carefully as he studied her tent. She took in his faetures. He was very muscular and strong. He didn't look like a Vantha she ever saw pass through The White Isles. Maybe she was wrong? Or was he mixed maybe? She did see his eyes change color so a part of him was definately Vantha. When he stood back up Lorelai quickly looked down at her feet feeling ashmaed about staring at him.

When he spoke she looked back up, this time into his eyes that were red and rimmed with yellow. Pretty colors like burning flames. He introduced himself as Banir Ironwood. He kept reaching under his scarf towards his throat. Was his thriat hurting? His voice seemed a little strained too. Lorelai blinked and tilted her head slightly to the side. She shook her head and cleared her throat to reply back as he set to work again. "M-my name is Lorelai. It is a p-pleasure to meet you Banir Ironwood..."

She paid more attention to what he was doing this time in case she needed to fix something herself. He stopped again and looked up at her once more. She could tell he was about to speak because his hand went under his scarf again. He asked her if it was fine with her to live so far away from the others. She could hear the concern and feel it as well despite his rough appearance and deep gravely voice. She smiled faintly and looked out at the trees.

"I am not afraid. If anything I prefer it. I can hear the animals voices. The Goddess Avalis gifted me with the ability to converse with fauna. If I feel a threat I can reach out and calm them. It does not mean I can chase them away, but it means I can at least deter them from their course. If not I have my Suvai. I would hate to raise them but I am very skilled at using them. I may not look it but if I had to I could protect myself."

She could tell he was examining her. But then waves of something emitted from his emotions. Something was bothering him as he looked at her. What was wrong? She pursed her lips but the emotions dispersed. He had rid them from his mind. Lorelai let out a soft breath she didn't know she was holding in. She walked a little closer to him. "I-is there anything I can do?" She didn't want him doing all the work. It was her tent. She should put in work at least as much as him.

As she spoke her talents doubt crossed his mind. The animals of Taldera where large, fearsome and dangerous even to seasoned fighters. And from what he saw, she was far from a fighter. Worse yet he strongly disbelieved she even knew how to handle a weapon, let alone posses the skill to use it. Even if she understood how to handle, properly use, and was trained well enough to not hurt herself. There was still the issue of if she could handle an enraged beast, or worse. Perhaps it would be a good idea for him to check in on her every now and then. Fighting was something he was at least good at, perhaps one of the only things. And here he could get paid for fighting, something he was in need of, Mizas where not easily come by someone like him.

What was her name? Lorelai? She seemed nice enough, stuttered a bit, a little too proud of her abilities. But she seemed kind, honest and helpful. As he began to set up the poles of the tent he heard her ask what she could do to help. A little ironic since this was her tent, and he was helping her set it up to begin with. As he fidgeted with the pole, still attempting to secure it he spoke. "Well I've got, the poles under, control." He needed to pause once more, the pain in his throat welling up quickly. With a few quick breaths he tried again, the pain was coming back quickly however. "You can try, to secure the, lines."

He got up and circled around to the back, the pole was set up and sturdy. Only the back one and the four stabilizers remained to be put into place. He was working a little slow, though he was trying to think of multiple things at once. So the slower pace was to be expected of himself. In all honesty he disliked thinking so much, it always lead to the same problems. Memories, the past, and his present situation.

Stumbling Banir fell forward, managing to catch himself with his hands he was in something close to a push up position. There was a little pain but it was nothing to bad. Getting up he brushed off the dirt, and set right to work once more. It was a little embarrassing to trip, but there was thankfully hardly any pain. As he understood it, being half Isur gave a few benefits in strong bones and muscles. He needed to shake his head, these thoughts where only distracting him from his work.

Lorelai could tell Banir didn't believe in her. She felt the doubt and concern rolling off of him like an ocean wave. She didn't really blame him. She was a girl, petite, and looked easy to throw around. She was 30 but looked like she was 16 as well. She had no muscles but was confident in herself to remain sturdy and strong willed. Banir was silent as he continued to work. Lorelai didn't think he would give her an answer but he proved her wrong.

He told her she could try and secure the lines. Lorelai heard the pain in his voice and felt concerned but she held her tongue. "I can do that..." She went to work on the lines making sure everything was done properly. When Banir fell Lorelai jumped up ready to help. "A-are you alright?" She was surprised at how quickly he caught himself. She let out a sigh of relief. She felt pain in im but he didn't seem bothered. He merely brushed himself off and went back to work.

Lorelai stared at him then blushed. A man like him should be fine over a mere trip. How silly of her to get scared so quickly for his safety. Children fall all the time and get back up with ease as if nothing ever happened. She felt his embarrassment and looked away before securing the rest of the lines. Her hair was getting in her face so she pulled it up into a high ponytail.

She then turned her attention to Banir once more. "May I ask...are you a resident here, B-Banir...?"

The hood that helped to hide his face, thankfully hid his crimson cheeks. His embarrassment didn't fade in the slightest when she asked if she was alright. With that he could feel his pride, what little there was, bruised. Slowly he could feel the injured pride give way to wrath was slowly creeping in. As his hands moved about aligning the poles and fixing the into the ground, his anger growing. Not at her, but at himself, he had made himself out to be a fool. He needed to let go of the poll, his fists where starting to clench around it, the last thing he needed to do was cripple her shelter. Calm down, that's what he really needed, long slow breaths, calming thoughts.

Through his rage he could barely hear her question, however he needed a few moments before he could answer. And as they trickled away he thought of a sentence, picking and carefully choosing his words. When he was ready he turned to her, eyes now purely a deep ruby red. "I am not, I'm a traveler, here for the, mercenary work." Short, sweet, and to the point. Though he disliked conversation, a very annoying and small girl had him accustomed to how to at least indulge in a response. However he still chose to keep them short, besides the fact that it hurt to speak sometimes.

No no no no!

That was something that wouldn't help calm him down, he thought back to better times. Talking with his friends, enjoying his days with them, drinking back in the Tavern. It was good fun. With these memories and his slow steady breathing he was able to at least re-restrain his rage. Something he didn't want this kind young lady to see, was his violent side. And what's worse is that if he got to angry, he would be the biggest threat to her. Once he started to berserk its not possible to stop until the anger runs out. And though he was a poor man, rage was something he was quite rich with.

Lorelai could tell that her concern had reall embarrassed him more than she thought. She felt ashamed of herself even more now. It didn't take her long to feel his growing anger. Her eyes widened and she stumbled back. The feeling of rage boiled deep inside him. His hands gripped firmly at the pole he was holding and Lorelai had to close her eyes as her head began to pound. It was a migraine unlike any she had had before in a long time.

Lorelai gasped as the emotion slightly choked her. She tried to calm down, take long deep breaths. Thankfully his rage began to subside and she could breathe regularly again, but her head still had a dull pain that was pulsing behind her eyes. Such rage. Why did he get so upset like that? Lorelai straightened herself up slowly as she watched him. After a few moments he finally turned to her his eyes a deeper red than before.

He told her he was simply a traveling mercenary looking for work. The same as her it seemed, yet she wanted to be a healer and not a mercenary. The very idea made her scrunch up her nose in disgust, but not all were like the Konti and she must remind herself of that. There was something else about this man, Banir Ironwood. His emotions seemed to be in turmaoil. She couldn't quite get a feel for him. She rubbed her temples for a moment to try and remove the dull ache. Maybe she could help this man in some way?

"I-I'm also a traveler. This is this first place I've been outside of The White Isles. I am nervous and a little afraid but I wanted to help those in need. That's why I came here. I want to be useful to others not just connected within my race. I don't have any friends yet and I'm so shy and quiet...I doubt I'll have any..." Lorelai sighed and squatted down. "I-I really do appreciate your help, Banir. Th-thank you..."

When she spoke of why she was here he felt an eyebrow raise. Though her response was a little strange it was similar to his own ideals. A minute spark of kinship was growing, and a small pang of envy. She was able to help people and heal him, all he was able to do was use brute force. Go into a rage, a blind frenzy to assault anyone unlucky. The only thing he was good for was destroying and hurting others, what he created he often ruined. Irritation was growing, he closed his eyes and focused on his work.

Walking around to the front end he set up the support polls at the front end. Lashing the polls securely and making sure they where firm in the ground he nodded. Pegs where next, he set it in the ground and pushed it in a little, he used his boot to push it the rest of the way. He had almost forgotten that she thanked him. That was a little rude of him, but better late than never supposedly. With a long a and deep breath he began, bracing for the pain in his throat. "You are welcome, I thought that, the Konti rarely, left the cities."

It was light conversation but it would pass the time, with a little hope he could keep questions away from himself. His long slow breaths almost perfectly silent underneath his white scarf. Moving onto the next peg he took it and pushed it into the ground some, slamming his foot onto the peg. Three should do it then she'd be set, so long as she secured the lines of her tent. A light pang of hunger was growing, he'd stop by The Mess Hall after this was all done. He may come back and visit again tomorrow, make sure she was still alive at the least.
