OOCI'm self modding this purchase due to the STs busy schedule. He was here almost every day, but his path always brought him through one of the side entrances and right to his master's anvil where his activities involved hitting things with a hammer. And cold, hard drudgery. What was worse remained Ros himself. He met the men once before, years ago when he had first showed up at the forge. His father had known the man - after all, the Naravane family had been smiths inside Syliras for at least two generations, three now, but he was a legend among the community and his very presence was enough to send the apprentices into a scramble. Nevertheless, Rhuryc approached the clattering and clang of the main smithy and waited, patiently, for someone to finish their activities. He knew that interrupting metal once heated would ruin some poor man's product.
When the opportunity finally arrived Rhuryc stepped in with a quick hand and drew the attention of an apprentice. "Would you mind fetching Ros for me? I need to place an order." He spoke with a light tone, hoping that the uncustomary form for a request would be disregarded due to his station. With a curt nod, Rhuryc placed his hands inside the pockets of his coat and busied himself with a few observations, mostly going over some of the products that had been left to cool by the air. Maybe he'd even get a discount. Doubtful.
The conversation with the Master Smith was simple. In fact, it was much less confrontational than he imagined. There was a brief exchange where Rhuryc requested the items in question, a large, steel shield, a sharpening stone - one that the weapon smiths used for regular maintenance on individual blades - and a large, if rustic, set of leather armor. While the Smith gave the apprentice a few quizzical looks the deal went down without a hitch. Rhuryc found himself paying for the necessities at standard price, much too unwilling to haggle. Armored, he went off with a somewhat satisfied poise. Why had he even thought it would be an issue?
