[Wart's Scrapbook] Under the Looking Glass

*gasp I'm actually using my scrapbook template again!*

I really love Wart's model. Of course I really loved her first ones, back when she was a way-too-bright-rainbow-head... Then when I had to tone her down the images I'd used became too dissimilar and inconsistent. I owe it to Nixie for first showing me the image in chat I'd end up completely falling in love with.

The attitude, appearance, and general style was exactly what I had in mind when creating Wart. So I promptly gathered together these new images and edited the necessary eccentricities. Unfortunately I learned something pretty quickly.

The model, Ruby Rose, had gone through quite a few different changes, mostly regarding her hair. And this particular color and style apparently hadn't lasted long enough to show up in many of her photos, like her black-hair style did. So the one single source where I got the first images seemed to be the only source where I could get images for Wart.

This has been just fine with me. There's quite a few there expressing quite a few different emotions. But unfortunately, every single one is in black in white. This has been bugging me a lot lately.

I do love the whole color splash effect with adding Wart's color to an otherwise colorless picture and it really emphasizes it but... I wanted a colored version. Fully colored. I wanted her to really look like a person, as weird as that sounds. I'm so ridiculously visually oriented, and she just needed to be more real for me.

Well. It took me forever. But I found what I was looking for.

I realize the first and last image are the same image flipped, but I wanted to get one that focused on the tattoo and one on the hair. Ah and my luck of finding one with her hand in her hair - Awesome.
Next step? Avis signatures etc for next season. (If I can manage to be that patient)

Well I don't draw. That drawing literally looks just like the style of art I had when I was ten. I've never worked to improve upon it. Just not one of my skills.

And those new pics are awesome. The facial expressions most especially fit wart. I'm curious to see what the original pics looked like before you added the tattoo and coloration (not sure which parts you added and which were original).

And I'm not sure how far I'd go to pursue this because it is incredibly time consuming and rough but..... :)

She definitely looks best in color.

I'm learning a little bit about Photoshop in my internship (photoshopping medical photographs of orthopaedic procedures, etc). I need to get my own copy of the program for home, so I can start experimenting with it. Not sure how good I'd do at modifications and such, but I'm curious to learn.

I agree. I enjoy her not looking quite like a concrete statue.

I actually had a really hard time first learning Photoshop. I'd been using paint since I was a little kid, and when I first tried it it just seemed so ridiculously complicated. All these layers and adjustments and tools and brushes and only one ctrl+z?? :P

That's a good idea though, cause I've found just about everything I know how to do I learned just by fiddling around and experimenting. Now if only Photoshop wasn't so ridiculously expensive.....
I got lucky because my tech-saavy mother provided me with a uh *cough*special*cough*version*cough*

You can try ctrl+alt+z. hehe.
School just started and it's already killing me. I'll try to reply as quickly as possible, but I may be slow.

Looks like someone needs to get their video game character genders straight...
